This weekend, Dale Jr. won his first race in what seems like an eternity, or 76 races to be exact.
There's a great article on Yahoo's NASCAR page. Seems Dale was driving on fumes toward the end of the race. Pretty gutsy move, I think.
On the other side of the spectrum, there's an opinion piece from Bonkowski on Yahoo, basically saying that Junior saved NASCAR after a weeks' worth of scandal, that the world is a safer place, etc. etc.
Kudos to the man for breaking a really bad streak, but it's interesting to see that switching teams hasn't really done much. Then again the field has been really strong his year...Kyle Busch, Kasey Kahne, and Tony Stewart have been doing very well, among others.
Coincidentally enough, it was about a year ago Friday that Dale announced he was leaving DEI for Hendricks.

I don't know about THAT. He's basically been third in points all season, which would qualify as his best season ever in that regard. And he's definitely been the best Hendrick car all season, which is a pretty interesting development by itself.
I'm glad Junior and Danica have both won, if only so we won't have to hear about them "never winning" for a while, hopefully.
Holy fuck shit motherfucker shit. Read comics. Fuck shit shit fuck shit I sold out when I did my job. Fuck fuck fuck shit fuck. Sorry had to do it....

Well its about time! Dale Jr. seemed to be the victim of bad luck in many of the races coming so close. Now Jeff Gordon need to get the monkey of his back.
I wouldn't say I'm a big Junior fan, but it's good to see him get the monkey off his back. And at Michigan too, a track I don't usually think of as favorable to him. I got to say though, it's funny how people are screaming conspriacy b/c he won on Father's Day. Yeah, NASCAR forces him to go winless for over 2 years just so that he would win on one of their lesser watched races. If there was any real shenagians going on, he would had already been handed a cup title or two, not boring ass racers like Kenseth or Johnson and certainly not jackasses like Kurt Busch.
BTW, I agree with you, CajunMan. Jeff Gordon & Tony Stewart, you're now the ones who gets to be asked when you're going to win a race again.

Paterno actually did win SOTY back in the 80's --- the worst of the 'sketchy in hindsight' winners (Pete Rose, Lance Armstrong, McGwire/Sosa, Brett Favre) that seemed good at the time.
