Let me check my calendar really quick....huh, not April 1st?
Bryan's website has seemed to really help the profile of his newsletter (and himself), and the website has always been the weakest part of Dave's stuff. This is a natural combination, I just didn't we'd see Dave put the WO on-line. It gets stolen a lot from just in print, how are they going to swing it online?
I really hope it works because this is is how I want both newsletters. The audio's nice too.
* I've been on F4Daily a few times and get thanked in the newsletter so I may be biased

for now.
I am torn.
I gave up the Figure Four stuff, largely because I didn't think I was getting value for my money (even if it was cheap) -- not much chaff, not enough wheat.
Now, with Dave being large percentage of the equation, it seems like it should be worth it, even at a higher rate. Also, lots of Dr Lucha is another strong positive.
However, part of me is happy with just getting the Print Observer (which I've gotten for almost 20 years now).

My F4W subscription had lapsed, and I was really thinking about whether or not it was worth it to re-up, basically for the same reason that you said, it had gotten to the point that all I was using it for was the newsletter, and occasional glances at the less-insane areas of the message boards. Getting access to the Observer now (and perhaps, a bigger thing- the Observer archives, eventually, or at least the archives back to 1991), for $2 more is a pretty damn good buy, I'd think. That's a bunch of audio and content for still like 10 a month.
The one thing they have to be careful about is that if both newsletters are online (and I'm going to preface this by saying that I've only ever really read F4W) is that they can't overlap too much, and it may wind up changing more, with the Observer being a more news/feature thing, and F4W doing more show recaps and stuff.
I wish the Observer archives were planning on going back farther than I've been a subscriber (1990).
Apparently, if someone just wanted to keep getting the print Observer and nothing else, you can just deal with Dave and I guess it will be like none of this on-line stuff has happened.
All I know is that if I did go back, I would not set within 1,000 feet of the board. And would advise anyone thinking of joining to do the same.

It's a crazy good deal. F4 itself had only been $8/month, and for folks like myself that subscribe to both, it's double good.
As a general rule, the Figure 4 newsletter is somewhat weak, especially if you listen to the audio shows (which I heartily recommend; I love the Bryan & Vinny shows), because Bryan will repeat himself a fair bit.
It's definitely a great thing for anyone who already subscribes to one or the other, and for anyone who's not, I give it my recommendation.
The board is a very scary place.

Apparently the archives are only planning on going back to 1991 because everything before that was typewritten, and I'm guessing, isn't on computer anywhere.
The F4W board's no more scarier than any other message board on the 'net. You kids are just spoiled by CRZ's watchdogging. Yes, that's a verb, because I just decided it was.
FWIW, I'll take the weirdos on the F4W Message Board over the kids on Sherdog.com's forums any day of the week.
At this time last year I was subscribed to both. If you're under that plan, this is an awesome deal. I really only subscribed to F4W for the podcasts - in addition to "The Bryan and Vinny Show", I absolutely loved "Adam & Mike's Big Audio Nightmare" (which covers Japan primarily) and the F4W Daily podcasts (particularly the ones with Meltzer).
And really, the only reason I let that subscription lapse is because I had a couple weeks where I got busy and didn't get a chance to listen to the shows, which as I said was the only reason I was paying for it. With the Observer as part of a packaged deal, however, I'm rethinking it.
The F4W board is the worst board I've ever encountered on the net, and that includes comics boards. I believe I had over 100 people on ignore and once the board had to be rebooted and Bryan wouldn't put it back in, that was enough for me.
I also gave up on the Bryan and Vinny show and most of the Figure Four Daily shows - too many guests about which I didn't care.

Yeah. I was a subscriber during the typewriter days. if you think the WON looks minimalist now, you should see what some of the really old ones look like.
The Boards at F4W are not for everyone. You have to know what you're getting into. They are not moderated. And they're not typical of pro-wrestling message-boards (ie, you will probably be ridiculed for life if you post a "Triple H is holding back X Wrestler" thread).

He ain't? Aw hell
I just re-upped for another year of the paper copy - right before it's a fucking giveaway. It's the best thing I get in the mail. The downfall is that I think it's done on Tuesday, which means online Wed., which means spoilers. I'm lucky to get the WON on Saturday...by Monday, things change.
Meltzer just turned into Keller. Did Mitchell invent everything? Anyone have a FREE password yet?

Demonstrations are a drag. Besides, we're much too high
Am I just being thick at 7:22am, or is there no link to log in anywhere on the F4Wonline site? I even tried the links in the email confirmation I got yesterday and neither work.
edit: So I was being thick, kinda, but it was completely hidden in the picture at the top of the screen.

Don't forget all the rampant racism and homophobia there. That's a selling point to some people -- "the wild west" nature of the board.
The board was a wonderfully irreverent place when it started and cool for maybe 6-8 months. Then it started the slow descent in the morass.
It's too much of a "morass" for me to read more than a tenth of it, but there's a handful of really funny and creative people there (like for instance the very man in this thread), and I don't mean the ones who make the shitty Khali songs.

How dare you. The Great Khali songs are better than penicillin.

Hey, fuelinjected, I saw a ECCW show a couple of years ago when they came down across the border. It wasn't good, with the possible exception of Tony Kozina.
