So I guess the only way for CM Punk to get a clean win now is if it leads to him getting pinned cleanly on the same show. Funny! He gave it a good shot, though, escaping from the chokeslam not once but TWICE. It was actually a pretty good match, too.
I marked out like crazy for Matt Sydal because I'm a huge dork. I marked out even more when he busted out offense and the crowd actually started getting interested in the match. But no, then he gets press-slammed fifty times and thrown at Kofi.

Granted, he at least got some offense in and only officially lost the match by count-out, but I fail to see how he was protected. I mean, he wasn't destroyed like he was a Mike Bell jobber, but at best he came across as a Jim Powers jobber.
But it was his first match on TV, and that's just fine. We all know how it works by now, guys have to "earn it" when they come into the E, and honestly as much as I like the guy he is a dude they brought up from developmental, ROH or no ROH. I'm just saying I think it's a slight exaggeration to say he was protected against Shelton Benjamin.

Has WWE finally desensitized me to the poor booking of Punk (though last night wasn't nearly as bad as say everything else since Wrestlemania), or am I maybe resigning myself to the fact that this guy I was sort of into in ROH really does run his mouth too much backstage? Either way, it no longer bothers me.
Scratch that - it bothers me that they have a guy win what has been a prestigious Money in the Bank shot and then proceed to bury him. But the fact that it's Punk specifically doesn't bother me. Sad.

I like how they treated it as such an afterthought. Rather than do anything like an in-ring promo, just another short backstage segment where Teddy says "Heya playa, I'm the new GM and you're in a match with Matt Hardy holla holla holla Happy Holla Days."
Granted, with Regal still being name-dropped and mentioned as the source of the feud between Burchill and Kennedy on RAW, it's possible they decided they'll somehow just pick up where they left off when his suspension is up (stipulations be damned!). But still, show some effort people!
Also, Mike Adamle's insane and whacky and intentionally bad, then he's back doing play-by-play and they're acting as if nothing ever happened. What the H (not Triple)? Was there some sort of explanation for this? Maybe I should actually watch this show every week.
Goofy Mike Adamle is about as far removed from the spirit of mid-'90s ECW as mid-'90s ECW was removed from the spirit of WCW and the WWF at the same time, but if they can make Maria into one of the more endearing female characters* after she messes up a few times, they can do it with Adamle too.
Enough creepy fantasy booking. On with the creepy analysis of Professional Wrestling. Let me change into some sweatpants. VISUALIZE IT~! WHAT WORKED- - AWESOME! I missed the Anti-Indie hug! I love that shit. Eddy comes out.
