I missed the first ten minutes! Apparently there was a Homicide vs. Brother Ray match which ended in DQ when Devon ran in with a Singapore cane, and then 3D + Booker T bloodied up LAX and left them laying.

In the back, ODD explains to Lauren that her bosom is ALL NATURAL and then makes Lauren feel them. There's no silicone in those -- it's 100% VODKA. BAM! ODB is awesome.

ODB vs. Angelina Love: Velvet Sky is out too, of course. Don West is having trouble concentrating because he's still thinking about breasts filled with vodka. Angelina doesn't do too badly, but ODB out-muscles her and gets her on th ropes. Sky cracks ODB across the face with ODB's own flask and Love gets the pin.

After the match the Beautiful People break out the hair clippers and Roxxi comes out to chase them off. She wants to cut Love's hair, but ref Rudy Charles confiscates the clippers. VOODOO DROP for Charles!

Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash are in the ring to announce Joe's picks for the King of the Mountain match. (Jim Cornette picked four last week, and Joe will pick his four now; we'll have four one-on-one qualifying matches [starting this week] and the winners are in the KotM match at Slammiversary.)

Joe's four are AJ Styles, Rhino, Christian Cage, and -- Joe starts talking up the last guy and how many titles he's won, while Nash is stroking his beard and making "gosh, yeah, who COULD it be?" faces -- "Booker T." Nash is all "wubba huh?" and grabs the mic. He tells Joe that he doesn't like it when Joe doesn't do as he's told. He walks off.

Kurt Angle and Frank Trigg are here and they are BFFs. Kurt wants to go hang out after the show -- Frank thinks maybe Kurt should spend time with Karen. Kurt explains that she'll be too busy anyway: cleaning the house, doing the laundry, mowing the lawn.

"Black Machismo" Jay Lethal, SoCal Val, and Sonjay "Third Wheel" Dutt are backstage, and the Rock n' Rave Infection is auditioning to play at their wedding! (Yes, "Rock Band" guitars and all.) Lethal gets in the line of the night: "I hear a piano, but I don't see one!"

Things go from bad to worse, with Rn'R insisting their guitars are real, and Dutt shrieks that he's getting "Ace Young" (?) to play the wedding instead. Rn'R has had enough and attacks the faces, and...scene.

Abyss is coming back: so says Abyss.

Robert Roode vs. Matt Morgan: This is the first qualifying match for the King of the Mountain. I still have yet to see anything from Morgan worth getting excited about, and this is no exception. He blows his chance to be in KotM by letting his problem with authority figures get the better of him, picking up and dropping Earl Hebner. Roode takes advantage by rolling Morgan up and using the ropes -- Hebner doesn't notice (hmm!) and counts the pin.

Eric Young is looking for Elvis in Memphis. Harmless.

Kurt Angle is in the ring and brings in Karen. I skimmed through this, but it looks like Karen doesn't want the second chance after all -- she walks away while Kurt is on his knees.

Video package -- Petey Williams is taking on Kaz for the X title at Slammiversary. Wow, is Petey going to be wearing a face mask?

Lauren is with AJ Styles -- Tomko is here, too, and AJ tells him he's his own man now. Tomko is all "fine," and walks off.

More of Mike Tenay interviewing Sting and I buzz right through it. Did you hear the reports that TNA is looking into bringing in Ultimate Warrior?

Jeremy Borash is in the ring hyping the KotM match and is interrupted by Awesome Kong and Raisha Saeed. Kong is issuing an open challenge -- $25,000 to anyone (female, 18 or older) who can beat her. They get a "volunteer" from the audience -- Melissa Wilford? -- and Kong KILLS HER DEAD. Just tosses her around and, finally, Awesomebombs her on the back of her neck, with her own knee hitting her in the face to boot.

Booker T vs. AJ Styles: This is the second KotM qualifying match. During AJ's entrance, he picks up his "prince" crown (bestowed on him by Kurt Angle) and tosses it away. And the face turn is complete. Styles does alright when he can keep moving, but Booker overpowers him when he can keep AJ grounded. Tomko is out and grabs Styles' ankle when he's attempting a springboard, and AJ CRASHES AND BURNS. BOOKEND finishes him.

3D comes in and AJ briefly holds his own against all four guys but they finally take him down. Tomko wraps a chain around his hand and punches AJ in the head and BUSTS HIM OPEN. The four heels beat him down mercilessly, and Ray smears his own face with AJ's blood -- yech.

Karen Angle comes down to try and protect AJ, but the heels chase her off. She returns with Kurt, who has a steel chair -- he fends off the bad guys while Karen tends to AJ. Ray points out what Karen's doing -- "that's the problem, right there!" -- and Kurt gets jealous -- he CRACKS AJ in the side of the head with the chair -- AJ's head bounces off the mat and leaves a bloody faceprint.

Team 3D holds Karen -- covered in AJ's blood -- and force her to watch while Kurt holds up a crimson AJ and screams, "THIS IS YOUR FAULT, KAREN! THIS IS YOUR FAULT, KAREN!"

And that's the show. The wrestling tonight was pretty much nothing, but I appreciate the forward movement on some of these storylines.

Yeah, pretty lacking on the wrestling tonight. Homicide/Bubba was pretty good simply because Homicide got almost all of the offense, which 3D seems to be okay with in their last couple of feuds.

I still liked the show though. If nothing else AJ is finally a face again and is away from Angle. I liked the Angle/AJ team but it's time to pull the trigger on the match before Kurt is too crippled to wrestle.

I also love the slow burn on the Nash/Joe feud. I just wish it was a match I was looking more forward to.

This week Sting talked about Jeff Jarrett. They teased that next week he'll talk about Ric Flair.

I'm interested in Kong's challenge since this usually leads to a new wrestler and the women's division has been so good lately that I have faith in their choice of women wrestlers.

No Christian makes me sad. :(

It seemed that we were getting away from huge factions centered around Angle or Jarrett, but after tonight there looks to be another huge one forming, very similar to the last "Angle Alliance" only with Booker T in it now. I hope that was just for the night.

Was Christian the last guy to eat a five-minute beatdown? It's been a while.

Noticed also that Brother Ray used a splash on Styles, which is a smart recognition that he's now very un-slim.

True. I like Booker/Team 3D alliance but they don't need Booker AND Angle. Also Tomko should go on his own. Hopefully this was just a case of them all having a common enemy. I'm sure some people won't like that it's all ex-WWE guys too.

I'm getting rather tired of the build to every TNA event consisting of wrestlers having matches to qualify for other matches. What is this, like the fourth PPV in a row that they've done this with?

I think they're trying to drive home the message that TNA wrestlers earn what they get, instead of having title shots and PPV matches handed to them because, say, they're banging the boss' daughter or their dad was a big deal (actually, a 3rd string lackey) in the 80s.

It also seems that they are at least TRYING to make their product different than the WWE, even if I don't really agreee with some of their ideas. But I think they are trying, so that's something. I do think the show and company are much better than they were 3-4 months ago.

The key here is that they've done this two months in a row but it's different divisions. Last week they did this for the tag division. They don't need to do it again because we have an idea of how the tag teams rank

But they DO need new heavyweight contenders since Joe dispatched of Steiner and Kaz. And really how do you decide who gets the title shot? Tomko has been gone. Cage, Rhino, Booker, Roode, Storm and Morgan all just lost in the first round of the tag tournament last month. Just choosing random guys wouldn't make a whole lot of sense since nobody has done anything to separate themselves from everybody else. So it makes sense to make people wrestle for the title shot.

All the video packages were really well done. I don't watch TNA all that much, so maybe I just don't see them usually, but I think this was some good stuff.

I thought the last hour of the show was especially awesome (minus the screaming segment for this week of RnR and Jay Lethal).

I wonder if this is how they'll transition Raisha Saaed to Cheerleader Melissa -- Kong ups the reward again and again, until it's so much that Saaed goes for it herself.

Hart-Smith was done in by having sub-Ted Jr. charisma and them killing the Hart Dynasty for no good reason. Masters has become kind of an awesome babyface worker 5 years too late. His career was long since ruined by being brought up too soon.
