It's a light week for me, personally. But what I read was pretty good.

JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #21: An awful lot of talk, but the action comes in the second half. As promised, it's a prelude to Final Crisis, but it's a good one. And for those fearing they're really going to kill off Martian Manhunter...well, this issue won't ease your anxiety any. Thumbs up!

ROBIN #174: We get the new Spoiler's identity revealed. It's...

It's the genuine article. Apparently, Leslie Tompkins pulled a switcheroo with her body and Stephanie's been hiding out in Africa since supposedly being "killed" by Black Mask.

Now that's good exposition with a satisfying result and explanation. Thumbs way up!

CAPTAIN AMERICA #38: There's another guy running around as Captain America and it ain't Steve Rogers. This is also another good satisfying plot development and Brubaker's arc looks to be heating up once again. Thumbs up!

Yeah, that's it for me. I'm sure Cerebus can cover for me on the others I missed. Final Crisis begins next week!

I hope that the Stephanie Brown Needs a Memorial in the Bat-Cave zealots can finally go away.

Did either of the stores you folks frequent get the second issue of "Perhapnauts" or the re-issue of "Walking Dead" #1? I didn't see either of those at any of the local shops. The shop I go to regularly is hit and miss on some of the non-Marvel and DC stuff.

It is a good rule in life never to apologize. The right sort of people do not want apologies, and the wrong sort take a mean advantage of them.

Does this make me your pinch reader?

ROBIN #174 was decent. Again, as I've mentioned before, I never gave a crap about Spoiler, but her 'death' ruined another character I liked in Leslie Thompkins and I'm glad they've redeemed her with this. I hope they bring her back from Africa soon as well.

CAP #38 didn't do much for me. I see Brubaker is trying to make Arnim Zola a character to be feared and turn him into less of a joke... but he's still a goofy robot with a fat faceed chest and it isn't working for me. Also, when Grant Morrisson or Geoff Johns brings in obscure characters from the past, at least they have potential not to suck. This fake Cap will suck. I'll admit the cover for #39 is kinda cool though.

----------

You missed out on...

FANTASTIC FOUR #557: Reed Richards built an Anti-Galactus suit and (conveiently) has never used it? A robot that can take down The Sentry? Millar and Hitches run on this book can be summed up in two words... EPIC FAIL. This has been the worst run on the book since Heroes Reborn. Just total crap...

ULTIMATE FANTASTIC FOUR #54: ...which, I think, might be why I really liked this issue of UFF. Agatha Harkness is total hotness and Ultimate Salem Seven looked pretty interesting. Can't wait to see what happens next.

INCREDIBLE HERCULES #117: Amadeus Cho figuring out Athena is a Skrull? That's kinda surprising, for some reason. Also, this whole 'God Squad' is kinda kick ass.

JSA #15: The JSA versus 'Gog'. Nice fight with a finish I certainly wasn't expecting, though in hindsight, I think I should have. LOVED the last page showing us what's coming up in the next year with Black Adam taking over the Rock Of Eternity, Alex Ross's Gog, Earth 2 (JSA Annual I think...), and lastly we see Dr. Midnight proclaiming someone has died who is a male character and who isn't Mr. Terrific or Jay Garrick. Oh boy!

AVENGERS-THE INITIATIVE #13: Good issue. It's kind of a reboot with all new recruits. Prodigy from SLINGERS calls Hank Pym a wife beater, which NEVER gets old or unfunny in the slightest bit... you know, because it's such an obvious insult coming from a loser who was part of the Slingers!

X-FACTOR #31: Peter David really getting back into a groove here after the cross-over nonsense. The bit with the shitty comediene giving a show to one person and that one person is a heckler is damned funny. This felt like a 'closure' issue. I'm guessing the team will probably be moving to a different place now.

Forget it Josh... it's Cerebustown.

The JSA annual is all about PG going to Earth 2. I honestly can't wait to see this, growing up with the PG/Huntress team-ups and see how they handle this.

I am sure no matter how Smallville it gets, a show almost universally laughed at by Superman fans, the cult of Morrison will love it. This makes Brand New Day look like Sandman.
