Opening of the episode was really affecting. This might be the closest thing to a "they all get home" scene we see in the series. Once again Hurley shows his worth by introducing poor, lonely Sayid to his parents. Great to see he and Nadia finally get back together (though we know how that ends). Hey, remember when Sayis was in love with Shannon? Me neither. Maybe he'll start seeing her spirit like how Jack sees Christian and how Hurley sees Charlie.

Aaron, Sun, Jin, Desmond and Michael are all stuck on the freighter o'dynamite. I don't like the odds for Jin and Michael, unless Jin goes back on Daniel's raft and Michael survives since 'the Island won't let him die.'

In summation, Grey's Anatomy sucks and I wish we were seeing the rest of this episode next week.

“How is it that I am a good actor? What I do is I... pretend to be the person I’m portraying. You’re confused. Case in point: in Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson comes to me and says ‘I would like you to be Gandalf the Wizard,’ and I said ‘You are aware that I am not really a wizard?’ and Peter Jackson said ‘I would like you to use your acting skills to portray a wizard for the duration of the show.’ So I said ‘Okay’ and then I said to myself ‘Mmm.. How do I do that?’ And this is what I did: I imagined that I was a wizard, and then I pretended, and acted, in that way on the stage. How did I know what to say? The words were written down for me in a script. How did I know where to stand? People told me where to stand." -- Sir Ian McKellen, Extras

Obviously Aaron and Sun are safe but that still leaves Desmond. If you think Desmond is going to live then Michael and Jin could just as easily survive the same way. Personally I think the reason that it was so hard for Sun to say that Jin had "died" was because he actually didn't and is stuck on the island.

I enjoyed that after all this time of bickering and fighting the "teams" going into the finale have Sawyer and Jack together and Ben and Locke together.

Even though Jack's character is annoying sometimes, Matthew Fox has been great this year. The expression on his face when he looks at Aaron realizing for the first time it's his nephew was wonderful.

The ending was great, incredibly dramatic. Even though I knew there was no way it would happen I was almost convinced they were actually going to shoot Ben.

Also, I try not to remember Shannon.

The fact that Jack finds out Claire is his sister AFTER leaving the island strongly suggests to me Claire isn't long for this world. I'm not sure if the writers feel there's enough mileage to be gained from her reunion with Aaron (although, if Jack and Kate shouldn't raise him, who would? Ghost Christian?) to ensure that she'll survive.

If you follow the non-canon ARG's, Paik Industries made the Freighter. Could Sun taking control of her father's company be the beginning of her constructing a second freighter? Sun's power play was awesome.

Good to see the re-emergence of the Others. Took em damn well long enough to leave their temple, but the whole "drop your gun cuz your surrounded by more people with more guns" trap is starting to get old.

I like how Jack is all "I need to get everyone" and he keeps getting pulled further and further into the island. I don't know what he and Sawyer expect to do to save Hurley. I know they like the guy, but 1) He chose to go with Locke, and 2) even though they are armed, Sawyer should know that the mercenaries are better armed. It will be interesting to see how Jack's wound plays into his survival leading to his getting off the island.

Even though we've seen Ben in the future, when he surrended to Keamy, I kept thinking that he was going to die and the show would pull some sort of resurrection swerve. This show is insane and its awesome!

It makes me wince to see Ben take shots to the face these days. The guy is always getting hit.

This was an excellent episode. It's going to be interesting to see how those six people, who are now spread out all over the place, end up being the six that made it back.

Also the Others are back into play. There is going to be an all out war. It should be great.

I agree with John Orquiola from last week's thread: Claire's already dead.

I kind of thought that Ben could NOT be killed, sort of like Michael, since perhaps the island was not "done with him" on whatever level...he and Widmore.

Sun turning on her dad, laying the smackdown - awesome! The numbers on the odometer - spooky. Sayid and Nadia - not quite a Rose/Bernard reunion, but nice. Richard Alpert and Ben - they seem to have ZERO fear of dying.

Not only are the Lost seaons finales great, but the penultimate episodes have usually been awesome too. The slo-mo scene at the end was really good stuff.

By the way, I'm losing my friggin mind. It started all the way back at Eggtown.

*Jack testified at Kate's trial that 815 crash-landed on an island in the South Pacific.

*The official story from the press conference is that the plane crashed in the ocean near Indonesia.

What the hell is going on?? How and why is Jack able to say the South Pacific without being questioned?

US Citizens are awful at geography (or at least the ones who wrote that.)

Sun's scene was great.

I keep waiting for the moment where all Six are together to start to explain why they made it out and no one else there, and it seems like they've been working hard in the opposite path, trying to separate them as long as possible.

The preview sure made it seem like they were going to get the Six together, which makes me wonder what weird teaser they'll have for next season.

Having a week off is dumb.

I'm a little confused by the Sun deal. How big was the settlement from Oceanic if it allowed her to buy a controlling interest in her father's company? It doesn't make a lot of sense to me, because its always seemed like a fairly large and important company so controlling interest couldn't be cheap. But, if the company is as big as I'd assumed, then where did Oceanic get the money to pay each of the survivors enough to buy controlling interests in large corporations? For that matter, do only the Oceanic 6 get settlements or did they pay off the families of all the passengers?

So I guess either Paik Industries is smaller than I thought or Oceanic is doing way better than any other US airline.

choose your own adventure

1) Sun's father and associates perhaps controlled 55% of the interest in his company, and Sun made a pact with the other 45% and bought out enough of her father's associates to get control. It wouldn't unnecessarily require buying 100 or even 51% of the company, especially if the other owners think she's doing them a favor by going against her father.

2) How rich is Charles Widmore again?

I agree with the Claire is dead theory too. Either way it doesn't matter though. With all that is going to happen next week we're not going to get the answer to whether Claire is dead or alive and neither is Jack. Either way Jack is leaving the island only knowing that Claire wandered off in the middle of the night and could be alive.

Exactly, there is enough money to pay Sun enough to have control of the company because Widmore is going to be pulling the strings behind the Oceanic settlement. And he has enough money to sink a fake plane and a bunch of dead bodies in the ocean for the hell of it, not to mention sending a freighter full of mercenaries with tons of expensive weapons to an island. I don't see his cash being too limited.

Plus, remember just before Sun confronted her dad, Mr. Paik was angrily talking to his employees about some problem involving 'five different banks.' Maybe this was a hint about Sun had the rest of the Six chip in some of their money. Or, we know Hurley and Sun are close in the future --- maybe he gave away some of his $150 million to him. OR, Ben has recruited Sun just like he recruited Sayid in the fight against Widmore.

Bottom line is that if Sun is in charge of a massive company that, as others have pointed out via the online game, may already have ties to Widmore and the Hanso group, this will explain how the Oceanic Six can get back to the Island. Freighter Two: Electric Boogaloo (except this time, they should do more background checks on their janitors).

I'll be seeing a midnight showing of At World's End. Also, nothing could get me to go see Bug. I don't care if it was directed by William Friedkin. It looks terrible. And that's an awful title.
