Get them to allow you to downgrade. You should be allowed under the licensing agreement you have with Microsoft.

I won't use Outlook 2007.

I am a serf to my company's IT policy. At this point, I'm just thankful (1) they put XP on here despite all the VISTA! stickers still affixed to the chassis (2) I managed to figure out how to get both external monitors working (the SECRET is to use the nVidia control panel and not the Windows one).

The only solution that Google provides readily is the moneycost variety. From the Wikipedia article on Outlook 2007:

It is not possible to remove the Ribbon, modify it, or replace it with menus with the normal Office 2007 functions. However, the Ribbon can be minimized simply by double clicking the active section's title, e.g the Home text in the picture below. There are third party add-ons that can bring menus to Office 2007.

I didn't find 2007 to be all that different in terms of Outlook itself. Some nice changes for sure, but not the major ones like what they did with the Ribbon in Word, Excel, etc.

Though really the ribbon is better than the old way, just takes some getting used to. Several other programs are changing to that style(the new AutoCAD I saw last week does) so I think it's here to stay.

Well, I don't know what any of you people are talking about. I just want the stupid window to look like all the other windows and not have some ugly-ass font that isn't what I'm used to.

Turns out we DID have Office 2003 available, so I did the ol' uninstall/reboot/reinstall. What's another hour of unproductivity? I'm saving myself all sorts of grief later (until I'm FORCED to use something that isn't at least seven years old...)

Not that it matters now, but if that was the problem, you probably can mess around View->Current View->Customize Current View (or something along those lines) and tinker around there.

Wordpress absolutely allows users to do this, as I do it now. That's all I have to add.
