ABC has released their 2008 fall schedule. Bottom line is most shows are coming back, with very few new series (understandable given the writer's strike).
http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news.aspx?id=20080513abc01

First off, 2007's canceled shows (not all of this is new information): Big Shots, Carpoolers, Cashmere Mafia, Cavemen, Miss Guided, Notes From the Underbelly, October Road, Oprah's Big Give, Women's Murder Club. The only one there that surprises me is Oprah's Big Give. I thought that did fairly well.

Returning in fall: America's Funniest Home Videos, Boston Legal, Brothers & Sisters, Dancing With The Stars, Desperate Housewives, Dirty Sexy Money, Eli Stone, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Pushing Daisies, Samantha Who?, Supernanny, Ugly Betty, Wife Swap, 20/20, Saturday Night College Football.

Returning mid-season: According To Jim, The Bachelor, Lost, Primetime: What Would You Do?

NEW FALL SERIES:
Life On Mars-drama based on a BBC series. A police detective suffers a car crash and finds himself living as a detective in 1973.

Opportunity Knocks-game show that travels to a new location each week, giving a family the chance to win prizes right from their front lawn.

NEW MID-SEASON SERIES:

The Goode Family-animated series from Mike Judge (King of the Hill) featuring a family who always tries to do the "right" thing (environmentally, politically, socially), and it always has unintended consequences. It says Mike Judge, Nancy Carell, David Herman (I'm guessing the guy who played Michael Bolton in Office Space, as he's done voices for a bunch of Judge cartoons), and Abby Elliot voice characters. IMDB has no one in their database named Nancy Carell. I'm wondering if it could be Steve Carell's wife, Nancy Walls. Or could be a newcomer of course.

Scrubs-as reported earlier, Scrubs is moving to ABC.

Untitled Kutcher/Banks Project-that's Ashton Kutcher and Tyra Banks. It's going to be a "beauty pageant unlike any you've ever seen."

Eli Stone is returning! Me am so happy!!!!!

Not sure where they're going after the sometimes-confusing and unexpected season finale, but I enjoyed the show so much I'm happy to go along, whereever it is.

Miss Guided getting canceled isn't entirely surprising, but it is a bit disappointing. It was really funny and a good showcase for Judy Greer and Chris Parnell.

Pushing Daisies coming back makes my week, though.

Lemme see here...I watch "Lost" and..................hell, last week I even forgot to watch "Lost." I had to find it online.

Wasn't Cashmere Mafia a big deal? Or was it a big deal for one week? Or am I totally mismembering?

(ditto "Samantha Who?" above)

For the purposes of online betting, what was the final number of aired episodes of "Cavemen?" I know the "over" won, but by how much?

I'm of two minds about the remake of Life on Mars. Sam Tyler and Gene Hunt are such great characters, and John Simm and Philip Glenister are so good in their roles, that I don't know how the US remake could possibly stack up to it. It's a great concept that could translate well to the US, but I don't know if there's enough there to last a typical US TV season of 22 episodes (the original show was only 16 episodes over two series).

According to the ever-so-reliable Wikipedia, six episodes aired from October-November 2007, which was probably about six too many, IMO.

Welcome home, men of the 2nd Bn, 127th Inf, 32d "Red Arrow" Brigade, WI Army Nat'l Guard! Good luck to those down south.

"Scrubs," eh?

Makes sense...ABC produces the show, anyway.

I'm glad Scrubs will be getting to wrap things up. We can't go on as a nation if the show were to end without revealing Janitor's name!

There are rumors that ABC might pick up "The New Adventures of Old Christine" from CBS as well if CBS chooses to drop it.

I really don't get it. I guess it's just me but other than 30 Rock nothing that has somebody from the past 10 years of SNL is funny at all to me. I watched this show a few times and didn't laugh a single time.

Thrilled to see Eli Stone come back. That and Pushing Daisies were my favorite new shows. I think it was the ratings increase they got after Desperate Housewives that finally did it for them so I guess Housewives is good for something. Also it's on Tuesday nights which is usually really empty once the inevitable Idol boredom sets in.

Only show that matters in all of this to me is Saturday Night College Football returns, with the highlight being the early season Ohio State/USC tilt. Only question is will they revert to the 3 man booth of 2 years ago, or just leave Brent and Kirk alone?

Because there are those who really enjoy it.

Like the Missus and myself. I don't have time for sitcoms, but I love this one. Yes Dear and Two and a Half Men (along with According to Jim) are must-see TV here.

Saw this on the AOL homepage. According to this article, Oprah was the one that pulled the plug on the show and not the network.

Oprah Winfrey giveth and she taketh away!

The talk show titan has canceled her own show, opting not to bring back her debut reality series, 'Oprah's Big Give' for a second season.

In a shocking move, Winfrey, 54, asked ABC executives not to renew her weekly primetime show about charitable giving.

"We loved that show and absolutely would have loved to bring it back," ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson said yesterday during an upfront press conference. "But it was something [Oprah] didn't want to do."

Despite winning its time slot each week on Sunday nights, critics pretty much panned the feel-good series.

I wonder if anyone knows the likelihood of putting 3D versions of movies on DVD? I am a bit bummed I never got the chance to see Harry Potter at Imax. I seem to remember Jaws 3D on network TV and buying my glasses at 7-11.
