Hurley taking the snickers bar out of his pocket, starting to unwrap and deciding the ethics of sharing your candy bar with the mass murderer you're traveling with is perhaps the greatest moment in all of television history.

The other 95% of the show was massively confusing. Even though the final episodes of the season shape up to be really great, they've really established a dividing line: either you have complete and total faith all the mystery threads will be resolved greatly or you're watching something else at 10 ET on Thursdays. There's no in between, though maybe there's an alternative group who just misses David Lynch on TV.

The first reveal of Alpert was great. The reveal of the Abaddon, not so much, being it the third time they did it on the show and they were so going out of their way not to show the orderly upper body until the reveal. Christian was another one you could safely guess once you heard his voice, but Claire was completely out of existence.

The whole "pick the option that's yours" was much easier to follow when it was an amulet or a sword.

Here in VA we are having a tornado warning,so they kept minimizing the screen to show us this every five minutes which was kind annoying. Anyway, the only part I didn't see was a couple minutes when local channels faded out becasue they wanted me to goto another channel for weather info.

So, I saw the commando guys getting ready to take off again, then one of them tells the bald doctor that he got a morse code message that the ship doctor washed up on shore with a sliced neck. To which the doctor responded "But I am the doctor." And the guy says something like "Exactly".

So now the screen cuts out for our tornado warning.

It comes back with the ship captain and the head commando guy with guns pointing at each other and the ship captain dies. And of course the copper takes off again.

So can anyone fill me in for that small missing part. Is that when the killed the doc? And if so, did they say why?

The head psycho commando slit the doctor's throat before the captain showed up and was shot.

I have a theory about Claire: She's dead. She died when that rocket blew up the cabin with her inside two weeks ago. The Claire that walked out of there is an island construct like Christian is. This is explains why she left Aaron in the middle of the jungle and walked off with her dead father. The Claire established in the previous 3 seasons would never leave her baby. But a dead Claire would know Aaron can't follow her to Jacob's cabin.

I have utter faith in the writers of Lost and the story they're telling. They know what they're doing. It's not always clear what they're doing and how they dole out information, but the joy is in the journey, at least for me.

To add some more info, Keamy said he would kill Frank if he didn't fly them to the island. When Frank pointed out that he was the only pilot, Keamy decided to call Frank's bluff by killing the doctor, then threatening to kill more people if Frank continued to refuse to fly.

Okay, so going back several episodes when Locke first looked into Jacob's cabin (was this the season 3 finale? I can't recall), several people including myself thought the VERY brief glimpse we got of Jacob looked a whole lot like the actor that plays Christian Shephard.

Now that we have actually seen Christian in Jacob's cabin, and we still haven't seen Jacob himself, is it possible that all along it actually WAS Christian Shephard that Locke saw way back when? And by this I mean the actor was supposed to be playing Christian Shephard and NOT Jacob.

And how about Claire? She looked creepy as hell, and there's definitely something up with her. Also, is this the first time someone on the island has seen "dead" Christian other than Jack and Claire? I suppose Miles saw him too.

And now I'm wondering what the "right" answer in Alpert's test was. Maybe the vial of sand/ash/whatever, since that one seems the most incongruous, and it's the first thing Locke picked up ...

(Comic book geek that I am, I thought of Captain Britain too ... but then, it's also been pointed out to me that a similar test is how Buddhists locate the reincarnations of the Dalai Lama, which is probably how it was intended.)

I'm not sure about the compass but I'd say the vial of ash contains the same ash/sand that surrounds Jacob's cabin. The first time Locke found it last season, he crossed the ash to get to the cabin.

Alpert in Locke's flashbacks as having met him as boy and being present when he was an infant adds a lot more oomph to last season's scenes where Alpert gave Locke Sawyer's file and got him to trick Sawyer into killing his father.

The only thing keeping me from totally buying into this theory is that Miles was with her the whole time in the jungle. He should have picked up on that, no?

Alpert's reveal at the hospial was classic - I'm bummed CANE is off the air but he means so much more to this show.

I think the answer to his test was actually the sand/ash as it was a piece of the island, the compass for how to find his way to the island and the so obvious it was hoped to be dismissed comic book with the same cityscape skyline as is in the reflection in the water under the title.

and Hurley gave Ben the bigger half of the Apollo bar - loved it.

and Claire had the beginnings of an evil or knowing grin creeping across her face.

This has been bugging me all morning.

Events leaving frieghter
- Sayid takes the Zodaic boat to the island
- Hour later, Doctor gets slashed, dumped
- Helicopter takes off no more than three minutes later

Events on the island
- Doctor, floating there, shows up dead
- two days later! helicopter appears
- Sayid nowhere to be seen.

Huh? I know there are time issues between the island on the real world, but I'd think the time difference would be consistent. It's been shown quite randomly.

Forget all these questions about time and death and the purpose of the island. The REAL question is, where are Ben's eyebrows?

I just figured they saw that one episode of "King of the Hill," too.

I have no idea, and I'm awful with connecting things like this on the show, but does the heading of the helicopter/zodiac matter? Maybe the only way to get to the island "on time" is if you follow the specific heading. I'm sure the doctor's corpse went followed the random ocean currents, not the heading that Sayid and the helicopter were supposed to follow.

I went back and watched the episode again, and I think I may have caught something. Ben's line to Locke about destiny, which I thought was just an innocent little humorous throw-away line, may be more important than I thought.

Ben told Locke that destiny is "a fickle bitch." Does that make any sense, though?? We think of destiny as being something that is pre-set, unchangeable, and unavoidable. Ben, on the other hand, seems to think that your destiny may change over time (and he seems none too happy about that, too). Does this mean that Ben (or Jacob or the island or somebody else) has the ability to alter destiny? I suppose that, practically speaking, that would be roughly equivalent to the ability to change events in the past, thus altering what happens in the future.

Or it could all be nothing and I could be reading too much into LOST. Wouldn't be the first time I've been accused of that.

The thing is Ben isn't really that out of the loop at least from the flash forwards. I think the real throw away line was when he told Locke that he made Hurley do exactly what he wanted without him telling him too. Is Ben doing this with Locke? Locke has played the puppet all his life especially with his father.

I noticed that too. I think that most people don't know that Angela has a power or that she uses her "hands on face to get you to do what I want power" to make people forget that she has a power.
