I stepped into a comic book shop for the first time in...ever! since I've had disposable income. I am just absolutely overwhelmed by how much stuff there is!
Anyway, you can get some free promotional comics today, so check that out! I honestly don't read comic books regularly, save for the odd trade of Dark Knight Returns or whathaveyou, so I couldn't tell you if there's any good stuff to be had.
Also, what's a good comic to read? Is Batman still good? There were like, five different Batman comics and I couldn't tell which one was the main one. :(
I don't read Batman, but I could make a few recomendations. Because you like Batman, you might enjoy Daredevil. It's starting a new arc now, so it'd be a pretty good time to get on board. As far as stuff that's not much like Batman at all, I would recommend Incredible Hercules, Nova, and the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy to just about anybody. They're just some good, fun comics.
One of the free comics given away was a reprint of the 1st issue of "All-Star Superman," which I can't recommend enough. Great, great stuff.
Only other notable free comic I picked up was "Nascar Heroes." And really, it's only notable because I picked it up hoping to see Tony Stewart using telekinesis and Mikey Waltrip tossing cars around in a Hulk-like rage. Unfortunately, they don't use any real racers, so I was immensely disappointed.
Originally posted by AlexI really did like that issue of All-Star Superman, is that available in a trade or something?
Also, Marvel Adventures was really fun, is that an on-going series that's worth looking into?
Yes, much like it used to be true that Batman and Superman Adventures were the best books being published featuring those characters in the late 90s, the same could be said about the Marvel Adventures books these days.
Basically, they are continuity-free, done-in-one stories that have a very Silver Age feel to them. Jeff Parker and Fred Von Lente are two of the main writers on these titles and both do a great job on them.
One thread, two seperate questions. I was wondering if anyone could recommend any decent trade paperbacks (or even hardcovers) of comics from the past couple of years. I recently picked up two JLA hardcovers (Tornado's Path, Lightning Saga)
