Welcome home, men of the 2nd Bn, 127th Inf, 32d "Red Arrow" Brigade, WI Army Nat'l Guard! Good luck to those down south.

And...here ya go. (NFL.com)

From the Packer perspective (Packers.com)...Green Bay season-ticket holders are gonna be P*SSED. The Milwaukee folks get both Dallas AND Chicago!?

Still, 3 appearances on ESPN's MNF Lite, and no NFL Network games (so far) for Badgerland folks outside of the GB or Milwaukee TV markets to b*tch about.

Aaron Rodgers better stay healthy...

And on a side note, can we really get used to this wack "modernized" NFL shield logo?

I looked everywhere for the big Super Bowl rematch and it's not there! After the way things went down in February, how can you NOT have a Patriots/Giants match in there somewhere? Come on, NFL!

And on an aside, man do the Pats have it easy for the first 8 weeks. Their only real challenge comes in Week 6 when they travel to San Diego. If they aren't at least 6-1 going into Week 9 against Indy, then I'll be shocked.

The MNF schedule looks a little better, but that Week 10 Monday Nighter between the 49ers and the Cardinals sticks out like a sore thumb. If you really want to get nitpicky, the Texans have no business playing a Monday Night game at all, much less on WEEK 13!

The NFL doesn't pick the game. Since switching to 32, they go by a system which is supposed to balance out the schedule over time. In this situation, it means a AFC plays any NFC team once every four years. They can't meet again until 2011.

The Texans were decently good last year, maybe have made the playoffs in an easier division and MNF isn't the top game of the week anymore.

The last MNF game of the year: a probably bad Bears team vs a who the heck knows Packers, late in the season, outside, at night, three days before Christmas. I'd set the o/u on "feels like temperature" at -4 F.

I grant there's a chance of a very memorable night - a extremely meaningful game in snow conditions seems about right - but both teams don't seem to be good at the same time ever, and the kind of weather they'll run into at that time of the year will make for some painful football to watch.

Not til 2011, which is the next time that the AFC East talkes on the NFC East.

Dolphins vs. Bills at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, December 7.

Good to see the Patriots on a Western swing, as my wife-to-be is a big Pats fan (she's otherwise perfect), so we're planning to take a roadtrip to see them and get beer thrown at us. Maybe SD, maybe Seattle.

edit:

When do tickets typically go on sale for the upcoming season?

Sure they do! And I'll be there...and at the Dolphins/Texans game in early October.

Thank you, fiancee's parents and their Texans' season tickets.

Oh, I see how it is. The Pats were expected to make a run at a perfect season last year and they're all over national TV, but the Lions are expected to make a run at a (reverse) perfect season this year and not a MNF or SNF game in sight. Conspiracy!

I love that the Pats strength of schedule is the easiest, however, I will hate hearing about this from television bobble heads and real life bobble heads from now until whenever.

Just as an FYI, the NFL hasn't approved the "rotation" schedule going past next year. I know specifically, on the Eagles website, they only had this year's known opponents, and next season's. After that, I believe that the rotation schedule will need to be re-approved by the owners. Given the overall fairness of it, though, and the ease of scheduling that it creates in advance, it would be hard to see them chucking it other than if they expand the league and add a couple of franchises.

Given the looming labor strife, though, I'm guessing that expansion may not be on the table at the moment.

I would like to give early thanks for the NFL giving the Cardinals a post-turkey win over the sure-to-be-McNabbless-via-injury-Eggles to go with my Alka Seltzer!

Well, it was a 50-50 shot, as the Lions only play 2 AFC home games and it has to be an AFC team due to the FOX/CBS annual 'Who gets stuck with the Lions and who has the privilege of broadcasting the Cowboys' shuffle.
On Thanksgiving, wasn't one of the factors of having the 3rd game because the AFC only had 1 team play on national TV that day while the NFC had 3? First year, Denver vs. KC makes it 3/3. Last year, Colts/Falcons made it 2/4, but the Falcons really didn't count as a pro team last year. Now, we get Cardinals/Eagles, in front of I'm sure will be a pleasant Philly crowd, making it 5/1 NFC.
As for celebrating a MNF game against the Colts: Unless you have tickets to the game, that just means you get to endure a 3 hour Kornheiser blowjob of the Manning family. A football game might break out during this event, but ESPN will do everything possible to prevent you from viewing the football game.

That's why I will be listening to the Titans radio guys instead ... if I'm not there live.

The Houston Texans are secretly awesome. OK, maybe just secretly above average, but if one of the more fashionable franchises in the league had gone 2-14 to 8-8 in the last two years they'd be getting talked up as playoff contenders right around now.

Let me preface this by saying, I am a DolFan and am thrilled that they will be playing here. That said, however...

Does the NFL really believe that the Dolphins are marketable? I guess they must as they sent them to England last year too. They were 1-15 folks and don't promise to be that much better next year...

I fail to understand why they would choose that game for Toronto. Isn't the idea to sell the Toronto fans on the game? Wouldn't scheduling San Diego or Seattle be better?

I know about the Buffalo-Miami rivalry, but does that even play into it when they are playing in Toronto? I know from listening to WGR 550 last night that the people in Buffalo are pissed off about losing the Miami rivalry game to Toronto.

Oh well, like I said, I am thrilled. Now if I can just convince my wife that this is the perfect birthday gift for me!!!

I think it's more likely that they think that it will sell no matter what, so why waste a marquee game? Wasn't the Mexico game Arizona v. San Francisco?

This may sound odd coming from a Southern Ontarian, but I know more Dolphins fans than I do fans of any other team. It's not even close. Like, I could name at least 50-60 Miami fans off the top of my head, compared to maybe 20 at most for any other club. It's bizarre.

And if you're a Buffalo fan complaining about not being able to see the shit-tastic Dolphins and have to 'settle' for the Chargers or Seahawks, that's just sad.

“How is it that I am a good actor? What I do is I... pretend to be the person I’m portraying. You’re confused. Case in point: in Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson comes to me and says ‘I would like you to be Gandalf the Wizard,’ and I said ‘You are aware that I am not really a wizard?’ and Peter Jackson said ‘I would like you to use your acting skills to portray a wizard for the duration of the show.’ So I said ‘Okay’ and then I said to myself ‘Mmm.. How do I do that?’ And this is what I did: I imagined that I was a wizard, and then I pretended, and acted, in that way on the stage. How did I know what to say? The words were written down for me in a script. How did I know where to stand? People told me where to stand." -- Sir Ian McKellen, Extras

Turns out they couldn't take Georgia in 2007, though Illinois was an odd replacement. I know they want tradition but I can't imagine that was the best matchup.
