They're playing a double-header at GT. Yes. The SEC title will be decided in an ACC arena.

The winner of KY-GA has to play twice today. They can't delay the tourny any because the SEC would lose their automatic qualifier. The SEC champion must be decided BEFORE Selection Sunday, so says ESPN.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/champweek2008/news/story?id=3294679

Early Saturday morning, SEC director of communications, DeWayne Peevy, told ESPN.com by phone from Atlanta that Georgia and Kentucky would play at noon Saturday in a makeup of the postponed quarterfinal on the campus of Georgia Tech at the Alexander Memorial Coliseum, instead of the storm-damaged Georgia Dome. The first semifinal pitting Tennessee and Arkansas would take place at 6 p.m. while the second semifinal between the winner of Kentucky-Georgia and Mississippi State will tip at approximately 8:30 p.m.

The SEC decided that their automatic bid would go to the team that wins the conference tournament. So, the tourney has to have a winner, and it has to be done before the brackets are released, or else they lose the auto bid (and, theoretically at least, the bubble pops for a SEC team).

So, if Kentucky or Georgia wins the tournament, they'll do it by winning today at noon and 8:30, and tomorrow at 1. All in front of just press, cheerleaders, and family. Since you're going from capacity for 25,000 down to about 9100, they're going to admit NO public ticket sales, and limit attendence to those on pre-approved pass lists. Needless to say, there's much howling and moaning on Kentucky message boards over this.

If Georgia wins the SEC on my beloved Yellow Jackets' home court, I'm going to puke all over myself from now until next season.

Anybody know if today's games will be on TV? I might be interested in seeing what the game looks and feels like minus all that crowd noise.

How many injuries were prevented/lives saved by 'Bama getting a kind roll on the rim on the 3 pointer at the end of regulation to send the game to OT? If Miss. State was successful in fouling or the shot had missed, a number of fans would have exited the building right as a tornado was touching down right on top of them.

Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you...

This is a big part of the reason why there should be no conference tournament games scheduled for Selection Sunday. Not only would it make things much easier for the NCAA selection committee, but if something like this happens, you have that spare day in reserve to use to allow you to do proper contingency planning and prevent unfair situations for a team such as Georgia (since they've now beaten Kentucky) to have to go through.

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

Tomorrow's championship game has been moved from 1 to 3:30 tomorrow afternoon. Since the Big Ten also plays it's title game at 3:30, coverage shifts from CBS to ESPN2. (In the markets of the 2 participating schools, the game remains on CBS).

This is going to be painful for the selection committee. They've mentioned, in previous years, the conference tournament finals don't have much affect on the NCAA tournament itself because they're knee deep in the logistics of seeding by that point. Except, this year, both Georgia and Illinois will have a chance to get automatic bids at that time and are out of it they lose.

The committee will only have minutes to stick them if they have to wait for those games to finish. It doesn't seem like they can fairly stick them in place of the last at-large team either, since both teams have had such poor seasons before the tournament, but though that may just be the easiest solution.

Part of the issue too, is the travel issues, and who would move around as far as seed numbers go, so you could have 4 brackets floating around at this point:

- Georgia in, Illinois out
- Illinois in, Georgia out
- Both in
- Both out

A later start is a little better for Georgia, but God help them if this game goes OT, because if it does, they're not getting done before 6.

*runs over with an industrial-size barf bag*

I'm going to be pissed if this run by Georgia puts a team like Dayton on the outside looking in.

You should probably hire a live-in nurse to help you with that.

And just as I feared, Dayton got jobbed. They had the best profile left of all the teams that got their bubbles burst.

Dammit.
