My favorite band has gotta be Styx. I love “Crystal Ball”, “Lady”, “The Best of Times”, “Mr. Roboto”, “Don't Let It End” and “Show Me The Way” in particular. Great music like that just isn't made very much anymore.

I can't believe you left "Too Much Time On My Hands" off that list...

The first 2 min of Come Sail Away are among the coolest chunks of rock music ever. And Babe is among the best corny cheesy love songs ever, almost to the level of anything mid-tempo or slower by Journey.

How about "Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man)"?

(and let us not speak again of the "Kilroy Was Here" album...)

Aw, come on, Roboto and Don't Let It End were off Kilroy. Just because the tour bombed horribly, don't kill the album. Also forgot to mention "The Grand Illusion" as another cool Styx song.

...Wow.

I agree with everything everyone just said. I've heard all those songs, and love them to death just as much as the ones I mentioned.

I recently got a Styx album, containing extended versions of ten Styx songs-- and recorded live in the place it all started, Chicago. It is amazing. I have always loved the atmosphere of live albums.

Best part of the whole album for me (and there are many great ones): During “Come Sail Away”, the audience twice sang the end of a phrase, “to carry on”. The response was amazing. I love when the audience does that.

Overall, I'm in Styx mark-out bliss right now. If there's a special place in heaven for Styx fans, I'm at a level just slightly higher than that at this moment. LOL...

Personally I think their best song is their version of "A Criminal Mind," originally a solo hit for Dennis DeYoung's replacement Lawrence Gowan. But then I'm just glad to see DeYoung gone! He was the Hulk Hogan of the music industry... holding down some of the most talented musicians around (Tommy Shaw and James Young.) You can tell just by listening to the "Styxworld" album that Tommy and JY are having a blast performing without him holding them down.

As for actual Styx songs I'd have to vote for "Renegade" and "Lady" as my favorites.

I went to high school with one of Styx's sons. I can't remember his name, but he had a sweet party at his dad's house one time. Don't I feel cool.
