Did anyone else catch this? The Wire is probably the best written and performed show I've ever seen. I thought the series wrapped up nicely although Marlo Stanfield walking away leaves a bad taste in my mouth. These last few weeks have had me very nervous that Bubbles, I mean Reginald, would fall back into drugs but seeing him sitting down to dinner with his sister was rewarding. I actually expected a worse ending than we got but everything was relatively good except for poor Dookie.
Holy Shit moment for me was STAN VALCHEK as the new commish. LMAO~!!!
Also Cheese getting got was satisfying after the way he played Prop Joe.
'But if one is struck by me only a little, that is far different, the stroke is a sharp thing and suddenly lays him lifeless, and that man's wife goes with cheeks torn in lamentation, and his children are fatherless, while he, staining the soil with his red blood, rots away, and there are more birds than women swarming about him.' Diomedes, The Iliad of Homer
I was actually hoping there would be a little more to the taking over the drug trade thing - like that Avon's people got back into it (I actually thought Avon kind of knew Marlo would do Prop Joe, but be too street to pull off being king of Baltimore, and therefor would let Avon's people back into the vacuum, hence letting him get the connect with Sergei and the Greeks).
The old drug dealer guy has to have been a Baltimore celebrity of some sort.
I totally called everything getting covered up by Carcetti and the Newspaper people, by the way.
All in all, pretty good. I was hoping for a Ziggy cameo in the prison yard though.
I thought it was a nice touch to have Michael take over the Omar role, considering Marlo's people tried to have him taken care of. Looks like he'll be playing by his own set of rules.
