February 29, 2008 - Once cancelled by FOX, Family Guy has now become enough of an established franchise that a spinoff of the animated hit is being developed, says the Hollywood Reporter. The new series is tentatively called Cleveland, and stars – you guessed it – the character Cleveland from Family Guy.
This can be good. But man, they'd better let him bring Quagmire along, because Cleveland alone can't make a show worth watching.
Interesting, to say the least. I have been wondering why they haven't develop Cleveland's character much since he broke up with Loretta, though F.G. does have an upcoming episode involving them. I like Cleveland: he's always good for a couple of subtle, yet solid laughs. But if you asked me who would be a good spin-off figure from F.G., I would say Joe. He would make a good parody on cop shows. Plus, we all know that Patrick Warburton is awesome, whether in cartoon form or in real life. Still, I'm optimistic that as long Seth McFarlane doesn't strech himself too thin with 3 series now that it will be a good show to watch.
One thing's for sure: The way things are going for FOX these days, sunday night could end up going from "Cartoon Domination" to "Seth's Domination".

Yet tonight I get no American Dad and instead another destined to fail sitcom.
