The Falcons just released SEVEN guys, including a couple of big names.

The casualties?

TE Alge Crumpler
QB Byron Leftwich
OT Wayne Gandy
CB Lewis Sanders
WR Jamin Elliott
LB Marcus Wilkins
DT Rod Coleman

They cut Leftwich, but not Joey Harrington? It's gonna be another long season next year if the Falcons decide Harrington's their guy.

Crumpler's a Pro Bowl guy and a lot of team will be salivating over him. Maybe the Steelers or the Jags could use him.

My beloved Seahawks have had quite a gaping hole at TE for a while now and he's already familiar with both our DB/Asst Head Coach/To Be Head Coach Jim Mora and our GM Tim Ruskell from their days in Atlanta, so Seattle might be a possibility.

Of course, he was hurt quite a bit last year (knee apparently), but that could have been him not wanting to rush back for Petrino. Could be interesting, and quite a shock to see them cut him rather than try to get something for him in a trade (depending on what his contract was like of course).

It is a good rule in life never to apologize. The right sort of people do not want apologies, and the wrong sort take a mean advantage of them.

Hmm, play-making tight end signing with a team looking for playmakers at tight end and wanting to make plays with the tight end? It makes so much sense, it'll never happen.

Crumpler has been hurt the last two seasons, hasn't he? I think he might be a risk.

Ish. He's only missed a couple games but I think he was 'playing hurt' for most of the second half of last year.

Still, he picked up nigh on 500 yards last season (credit: ESPN) which ain't bad given all the Falcons troubles so he shouldn't have any trouble finding someone to take a chance on him. Probably a hefty contract with a cruddy team, or an incentive laden one with a playoff contender.

There's worse QBs than Leftwich starting in the league just now as well. Bit injury prone, but as a veteran influence who can come in and play when needed without killing you, he could do a job for someone like Minnesota.

If the aim was to ditch ageing guys they can easily replace I'd have thought Dunn would have made it. Or not made it depending how you look at it.

According to his agent, the Titans (tennessean.com) are one of eleven teams that have expressed interest in Crumpler.

The TE position is an area that the Titans need help in, as the position hasn't had solid play here since Frank Wycheck retired. Crumpler would be a good fit as long as they don't overpay for him ... which some team will.

I'll play a little devils advocate here. What is the point and need to sell alcohol at a sporting event. I go to movies all the time, I go to long 3 hour movies many times and there's no need for beer in that environment, But for sports, it needs it?
