This will be brief as I've never done a recap before - but what better way to get a Polumbo/Noble thread going!

*open*

Batista comes to the ring carrying the most scary weapon he could find: a microphone. He chats with Michael Cole about something, blah blah blah and then the other participants come to the ring - MVP, Big Daddy V, Khali, Finlay (with Hornswaggle) and then finally the Undertaker's music hits and the lights drop and then he's in the ring. The others scatter except Batista because they are all afraid and he is not - awesome. That will
set up a six man tag later tonight.

*break*

Kane vs. Sheldon Benjamin

Pretty good match. Nice dropkick from Kane to a sitting Benjamin. The match eventually goes to the outside and Kane is counted out. But these two work well together - hopefully there is more to come.

*break*

Polumbo vs. Jamie Noble

Oh god ... why couldn't this have been a dark match? Polumbo beats Noble for the first time and now, down to business. The post-match squash of Noble two weeks ago was borderline unwatchable. It lasted way too long, featured the talent-free Michelle McCool sobbing and crying in a not-in-any-way-believable manner and featured the ring announcers going silent for the entire beat down, which was odd and added nothing. So what the hell, LET's DO IT AGAIN! Only this time, more of everything! More beating! More standing around looking all crazy (Polumbo)! More sobbing! Add 10 minutes! Does the WWE *want* us to change the channel? Ughh! Please make this stop! I'd rather watch a Mark Henry/Great Khali Iron Man Match. Seriously, this is the most ridiculous, brutal angle that I've seen in a long, long time. I can't imagine it's any better live, but on TV it's just plain horrible. Sorry ... moving on...

Jesse/Festus vs. Deuce & Domino

Festus came to the ring looking like a Saints fan (bag over his head) and Jesse tells us that Festus's therapists have made him all better. The bag is off - and there you have it: he looks exactly the same. Until the bell rings and then he goes apesh*t. Some early action with Jesse and Deuce then Festus eventually tags in and it's a squash. Winners: Jesse & Festus. I was expecting something different here, but more of the same.

The Cutting Edge.

Edge talks sappily to Vickie and tells her that he is going to ask her an important question next week. Can't wait. Vickie wants an apology from Rey - and here comes Rey now - in street clothes. Rey tries to speak to Vickie but she slaps him a couple of times. Rey is not happy
and catches her third slap attempt and now it's on! Rey and Edge mix it up with Rey missing a 619 allowing Edge to get two chairs from the outside - concerto time? Rey dropkicks a chair into Edge's face and then hits the 619. Edge to the outside again where he takes an awkward-looking sitting swanton from Rey against the announce table. Rey then apologizes to Vickie.

*break*

We come back to the new diva interviewing Edge and if he will 'pop the question' next week. Edge says that's none
of her business. Is her name Eve? I forget.

Moore/Yang vs. Ryder/Hawkins

A rematch from last week - nothing special. Both teams looked good with Ryder and Hawkins getting the win.

*break*

Six-man tag: Undertaker, Batista, and Finlay vs. Big Daddy V, MVP, and The Great Khali.

Surprisingly a pretty good match ending in a no contest. Everyone hit a finisher towards the end, even Finlay and his shillelagh to the head.

The main event and the Benjamin/Kane match were both very good but the rest of the show was just so-so. Except the Polumbo/Noble/McCool PLEASE GOD MAKE THIS FEUD GO AWAY POST-HASTE angle.

I think we missed a chapter in the Jesse-Festus storyline. Why would Jesse want to chance Festus' behaviour? So far it's paid off in spades for the team. There could've been a vignette or something where Festus hears a bell outside of the ring and goes nuts, so Jesse would've had an actual motive to normalize his cousin.

How is it that I am a good actor? What I do is I... pretend to be the person Im portraying. Youre confused. Case in point: in Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson comes to me and says I would like you to be Gandalf the Wizard, and I said You are aware that I am not really a wizard? and Peter Jackson said I would like you to use your acting skills to portray a wizard for the duration of the show. So I said Okay and then I said to myself Mmm.. How do I do that? And this is what I did: I imagined that I was a wizard, and then I pretended, and acted, in that way on the stage. How did I know what to say? The words were written down for me in a script. How did I know where to stand? People told me where to stand." -- Sir Ian McKellen, Extras

My all time favourite referee was Steve Lombardi, during that stupid angle in '99 where the regular refs went on strike. Not because of anything special Lombardi did, more because I'm a supporter of scab workers.
