About to head out to the bar to see this PPV. I wasn't going to, but watching the UFC preview on Spike today sold me on it. I can't wait for the Lesnar match, or the Silva match.
I was blown away that the promo posters for this featured Lesnar, and watching the Spike show, was amazed at how much Kurt Angle was involved. He's rumored to be making an appearance at the PPV tonight. I wonder if there is going to be a "special announcement" tonite.

Anybody else getting/watching this one?

Great, great show. Top to bottom good-to-great fights, with tons of great finishes. Lesnar looked like the real deal, completely dominating Mir up until Mir used his BJJ to good use and pulled out the wacky leg submission out of nowhere. That fight totally elevated both of them, and I'm totally looking forward to Lesnar's next fight. (Sylvia, perhaps? I'd love to see Lesnar solve how to take him down.)

How ironic....Lesnar tapped out to an ankle lock. Well, okay, it was more of a kneebar, but still, the visual looked exactly like the last few moments of an Angle/Lesnar match from five years ago.

There is no way Lesnar gets a fight against Sylvia next. Tim would destroy him. Let's not forget that Lesnar is just 1-1 in his pro MMA career. His next fight will be against someone just a step above a tomato can.

Speaking of Sylvia, THANK GOD Nogueira beat him. Now we don't have to see Timmy stinking up the HW title picture for at least another year.

“How is it that I am a good actor? What I do is I... pretend to be the person I’m portraying. You’re confused.
Case in point: in Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson comes to me and says ‘I would like you to be Gandalf the Wizard,’ and I said ‘You are aware that I am not really a wizard?’ and Peter Jackson said ‘I would like you to use your acting skills to portray a wizard for the duration of the show.’ So I said ‘Okay’ and then I said to myself ‘Mmm.. How do I do that?’ And this is what I did: I imagined that I was a wizard, and then I pretended, and acted, in that way on the stage. How did I know what to say? The words were written down for me in a script. How did I know where to stand? People told me where to stand." -- Sir Ian McKellen, Extras

Hey, Frank Mir won me 50 bucks. If Mir hadn't turned his head while getting pummeled, causing Lesnar to hit the back of his head, resulting in a stand up, I think he'd have been finished there.

Nogueira is the the toughest fighter I have ever seen. People always joke about Fedor being a cyborg, I'd be less surprised if Nog were actually one. Anybody else would be have been out during that first round, but Nog does what he always does and survived the beating, shook it off, and stuck to his gameplan. Incredible, and I've got no qualms with those two getting the Fight of the Night bonus since Sylvia was very impressive as well.

Harry: That's a special feeling.

Welcome home, men of the 2nd Bn, 127th Inf, 32d "Red Arrow" Brigade, WI Army Nat'l Guard! Good luck to those down south.

Was it just me, or did the ringside appearances in the crowd of Angle, Austin and 'Taker get some of the biggest pops of the night?

And it was hard to hear at the Hooters I was at, but did the Mandalay Bay crowd BOO Barry Bonds? I {heart} Vegas.

Where I was at, Taker got the biggest reaction of the night.

If Brock knew how to punch/drop elbows, Mir would be dead right now.

I didn't get to see it but heard enough about the hype everywhere to know it was going down. I'm not one of the crossover crowd but I agree from the way Mir was talking on the write up on UFC.TV there official website. I like Brock's reaction though meaning he'll mature in this tough competition.

Ricky has no shot. Basically, it would be a Mayweather-Gatti rerun. I don't blame him for thinking he could be the one to test Floyd, and I don't blame Floyd for seeing the Hatton-Castillo crowd and dreaming about the payday he could get.
