I betcha that you saw that title and went "DUH!" Well, you're right! Just this week, Canadian Prime Minister (and dirty French-Canadian) Jean Creteien [Even I don't know how to spell his f'n name] "cleaned house" of corrupt MPs in his cabinet, tossing Art Eggelton out for corruption [he gave a lucrative contract to his ex] and moving all sorts of guys around. But the sad thing is, he's not even addressing the corruption! He's just moving the corrupt to other places, so they can be corrupt there! This is just like that Senator [We got 'em up here, too] who got elected for a four year term and showed up less than a dozen times during his term. Stupid, stupid politics.

I can't wait to move to the States.

The only time Canadian Politics ever caught my attention for more than 5 seconds was when Jean Chretien was hit in the face by a cream pie weilding protestor. Pie and politics... now THAT's news.

Luckily, thatīs not how political corruption in the US is dealt with. Unfortunately, it IS how pedophilia in the church is dealt with.

Yeah, I know it's hard to notice that we have a government, since our federals are too busy trying to make sure they look like they're doing a good job to actually do anything.

My favourite part of all this is the Chretien and his party actually have the nerve to complain about the media and opposition parties accusing them of corruption.

"Oh, please stop, you're making the voters lose faith in us!" -- paraphrased, but that's pretty much what they said.

I'm pissed about this. Too pissed to know where to start with the examples of the Liberals sitting back, doing nothing but rewarding their loyal followers while the rest of us get shit on, and the only real work they do it in their PR department.

The worst part about all this corruption shit is that it doesn't even matter. Since we're Canadians, we'll sit back, complain for a week or two, and then pretend it never happened and vote Liberal again in the next election.

Hopefully the RCMP and auditor general's investigation reveal some real juicy stuff to get us well and truly incensed. That hasn't happend in far too long.

Ike

Chretien won't resign, no matter what the level of corruption. It's really sad how poor this government has become, given that they were originally elected in 1993 as a reaction to similar arrogance in the Mulroney government. How benign that all looks now in comparison.

The problem is there is no opposition. The Reform/Alliance party have been trying to fight the notion that they're just a Bloc Quebecois for the west, and had a weak leader in Day, and now Harper(in an incredible move of idiocy) just alienated all of Eastern Canada by saying they have a "culture of defeat." Unbelievable. The PC party is just weak without the Alliance support, and the BQ and NDP, well, they're not much in terms of alternatives.

So it continues, on and on...

Hey, maybe in like 10 years the PC party won't suck, or the alliance party won't suck (and won't be so fuckin' scary. Yeah, I find 'em scary). The NDP will always suck (It's true, it's true). We're stuck with the Liberals because they're the lesser of 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 evils, depending how you look at it. Cretien needs to step down from leadership before the next election.

Yeah, I'll be voting for the Liberal dude if'n I still live where I lives in the next election, but that's because the PC dude who'll run wouldn't be able to do any better of a job representin' us, unless the PC's won.. Go Lawrence O'Brien...

He wins the district, but I get the feeling that a lot of his supporters are independents who could very well vote Democratic or 3rd party for President. So they don't bring much to the greater party as a whole.
