According to Meltzer Mike Adamle, known as the original host of American Gladiators, and a well-known guy in Chicago sports media, is going to be starting in the backstage reporter role at Royal Rumble and then joining the Raw broadcasts.
I guess it seems weirder to me than it will to most people, since I have seen him on actual news programs here, whereas most people have seen him doing more pseudo-sports than anything else. I guess this is good for WWE, as at the least it means having someone competent behind the mic for those backstage segments, but I just don't see this lasting too long. It just feels off to me.
Who is he working for in Chi now (well, I suppose he isn't now - how about last) I think the last time I saw him (I have been gone awhile) he was Johnny Morris' help on 2 or maybe the main guy on 32. And hasn't he been on almost all the stations? Wasn't he on Comcast sports net too?
We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.
I fear they'll cram it down our throats that he used to host American Gladiators, which will lead to the modern-day Gladiators "invading" WWE, leading to a "very special edition" of Saturday Night Main Event where Chuck Palumbo and DH Smith face off in the Eliminator.

You know they would.
Your ideas intrigue me. I actually would like to see the WWE competing on Gladiators, particularly if they confine it to NBC. And as long as we don't get poorly-cut, long winded promos on Raw that put hot crowds to sleep.

I dont know. I always thought Josh Mathews and the current backstage interviewer (I forget his name. You know, the one with glasses that gets pie-faced by HHH in that video game commercial?) looked too young and un-manly. I havent seen Adamle in awhile, but I assume he looks more like an adult than those two.

He also shouted unnecessarily. Really, his entire presence was unnecessary. Why not do as they always have, having the commentary team lead into video packages, rather than the inexperienced (for these purposes) goof in the crowd?
I find the most erotic part of the woman is the boobies.
It's always bumpy for a new guy. He certainly didn't help his cause by blowing a key name in a key event on a live PPV though. My guess is they are going to ease him in as a play by play guy sooner or later. I'll give him time as wrestling fans always hate the new announcer, but he can't keep 'Jeff Harvey-ing' either.
From what I saw while going through Raw on Monday (and yes, I actually stopped fast-forwarding to see/hear Adamle) I like the different emphasis he brings to the shilling for upcoming matches.
He brings a real "sports" feel to Sport Entertainment. I daresay he's what they were hoping for when the originally hired Coachman.

What's the difference between New guy botching a name and JR botching the names of half the moves in the show, mis-remembering history, using the same 12 descriptive terms for every single situation ever, and yelling all the time about things that really just aren't that exciting?
The difference is only that JR has been around longer and we're familiar with him.
