I use my shoes. I live a 10 minute walk from my apartment to the county complex.

All I need is a belt to prove it and I'll be set!

I've always either driven myself or taken the bus if my car was out of commission.

My shortest commute was 3-4 minutes there, about 10 minutes back. I got on the freeway, stayed in the same lane, and immediately took the next exit. I usually couldnt listen to a whole song on the radio before getting to my office in the mornings, and if I got in the car during a commercial break I would hear any songs at all.

My longest commute was 1 hour each way, almost to the minute. 56 miles from my apartment building driveway to the office parking lot driveway. PRO: I could listen to a CD all the way through in one trip. CON: Filling up my gas tank every other day.

My current commute is 15 minutes on the freeway (6 with no traffic), 25 minutes via surface streets.

Some days, I drive the truck in (1994 Ford F250) which gets about 8-10 mpg. Most days I drive in the Scion XB, which gets around 30.

I live 4 miles from work though, so it doesn't make a lot of difference overall.

Yes, but have you ever tried to get in your car, only to realize it was someone else's, just the exact same make, model, color, etc.? -_-

YES. We were at the mall in Attleboro, and we went back to the parking lot, went to get in the car, and I said to my girlfriend "When did you get a Tinkerbell air freshener?" Turns out there was another 2000(ish) brown Plymouth Neon, parked in the row next to our car. It was unnerving.

Also, I neglected to post a picture of the boat I take:

I live a 20-minute walk from work, so I do that. On very rare occasions - like when I have someplace to be immediately after work, or when I hurt my foot - I drive a white '96 Tercel.

About a 30 minute (each way) commute daily in a Lexus RX330, unless the wife lets me take her Lexus SC and put the top down. I'm thinking of springing for the RX hybrid when its time for a new car.

I either walk in - 35 minutes.
Catch the bus - about 30 minutes from the time the bus arrives until I walk in the door.
From the GF's place the City Cat ferry about 25 minutes.

15-20 minute drive between my house and the train station. 1:15 or so between the Central Islip station and Penn on the Ronkonkoma line. Then it's 20-30 minutes between Penn and work - either I just walk, or take the 1 2 or 3 up one stop to Times Square, transfer to the 7, and walk a few blocks up from Grand Central to my building. Why yes, I do spend 4 hours a day in transit.

I drive from the Philly suburbs to Newark, Delaware, in my 2001 New Beetle. It's a bit over 40 miles each way.

This is the first job I've had where I have to drive -- I've always used public transportation in the past. Unfortunately, it's not an option here.

I drive a hideous 45 minutes(it should only take about 20) each way in our city's ever-growing rush hour in a 2000 Corolla. I'm buying a new vehicle soon because my Corolla is a standard transmission and I get out of 1st gear.

My last commute was an 8 minute drive on residential roads... Crappy job, but a great drive!

2004 Chevy Cavalier. It's about one hour each way. 60 miles one way and my car gets 30 to 34 mpg, so it's not too bad. Car payment is killing me though. I wish I still had my 1998 Dodge Neon, at least it was paid for.

I drive 15 minutes to the train and park in the downtown parking garage because the lot next to the train station is closed for the 18 months - then I take a short 2 minute shuttle bus ride with a frustrated wannabe Formula 1 drive behind the wheel - jump on the train into NYC and 62 minutes later emerge on 7th Ave - from there it is another 15 minute walk - it doesn't exactly add up but with waiting times and what not - 2 hours door to door - each way

I put my bike on the #12 bus's bike rack, ride the bus for half an hour, get off and ride my bike for about half a mile. Then I do that in reverse at the end of my shift.

I didnt realize so many people actually use public transportation. If I lived in a city that it was a viable option, I guess I would too.

Right now, I drive a POS 1991 Honda Civic. 180,000 miles on it, but it still gets about 39MPG. Its a fifteen minute drive to work, and a five minute drive to school. So, I only have to fill up about once every other week.
