Oops, forgot this one! The dream of an all-Zimmerman Super Bowl remains alive thanks to another game I mostly slept through. At the time, I would have liked the Chargers to go for the touchdown instead of closing it to 6-3, but that was a long time ago. The running game really ground down the Titans, which was kind of a switch after the early success they had on the ground - well, perhaps I should say "success" in terms of time of possession, 'cause they sure didn't get any touchdowns out of it. Chargers now get to lose to the Colts.
One expression you won't be hearing too much next year: "Vince Young just wins football games!" Yikes!
At halftime, I was getting ready to poke some more fun at Norv Turner's ineptness. Now I have to consider the possibility that the heavily anticipated Colts/Pats showdown might actually...gasp...NOT HAPPEN! Of course, Peyton Manning couldn't possibly have another six interception game...right?
"Wocka Wocka...who wants to hear a funny-ass joke?"
If Gates is hobbled next Sunday, it will be extremely difficult for the Chargers to win. In November, the Chargers caught the Colts emotionally and physically exhausted, picked off Manning 6 times, had 2 Vinatieri missed field goals, 2 special teams touchdowns, and only won by 2. For a team built on defense, how exactly did the Titans consistently allow Charger receivers to be 20 yards wide open? Now, it would be beneficial to see him with at least decent wide receivers, but Vince Young needs to throw over the top rather than side-arm if he is going to be a consistent passer, especially if he keeps having leg issues.
Well, I was rooting for the Titans in this game. The prospect of facing the Jags makes this Patriots fan just a little bit nervous. It would have been nice to see Jacksonville and Indy take a few bites out of each other before coming to Foxboro, but what can you do?

The Titans had a good defensive game plan ... they made Rivers beat them with his arm, as SD's ground game was basically a non-factor.
I hear the VY-bashing all of the time. But let's face it, the other 2 top QBs (Leinart & Cutler) from the '06 draft class aren't exactly setting the world on fire either. Hopefully Tennessee can snag a top notch receiver that can stretch the field in April.
Am I the only one that would like to punch Phillip Rivers in his fucking mouth? Something about that guy really irritates me.
The standard of the wild card games this weekend was as low as I can remember for many a year*.
Seemed like every team was determined to spend 2-3 quarters gifting victory to the opposition, before someone stumbled over the line by default.
I guess the Titans did as well as could be expected defensively in this one, but Young really needs some weapons to play with if he's to take them any further next year.
