I never thought it would happen. Since 1989, I have followed every single storyline from WWE/F, WCW without missing a beat, up until this year.
In all these years, up until 2007, I could count on both hands how many times I'd ever missed Raw/Nitro, and never missed the old Superstars/Prime Time Wrestling, and WCW Saturday night.
Through the mid 90's I stuck with it, I rode the wave of the mega popular late 90's, stuck with it all the way...until now.
There's nothing to look forward to. I've missed so much shit. The rise of MVP and Kennedy really mean nothing to me. Ive never seen Deuce Domino and whoever his partner is team up. I mostly just read results, watch the first few minutes of RAW, then go to sleep.
Even with bit torrent, I still have no desire to DL the PPV's after they air.
So what happened? This isnt my show anymore. They dont write for me anymore. This is for kids. For families to watch together. And it sucks.
There's no suprises, good swerves, or dream matches left. The shit we grew up on is gone.
ROH is awesome, and so is Japan, but come one...most of us grew up on the old WWF formula, or NWA/WCW formula, thats what got us hooked. These current feds will never be like that.
I don't know what has lost you, but I've been watching wrestling since I was in diapers, and still watch it today.
There has never been a time that I never wanted to watch wrestling, even the worst booked show would have at least one thing that was good. Maybe you expect too much out of it?
While Raw and Smackdown are iffy at best. ECW constanly has goof matches week-in and week-out. And TNA always has something worth talking about.
I suggest getting your hands on some ROH dvds, or maybe springing for some Japan and Mexico stuff. If US wresting has bored you, than overseas is the way to go.
I watch more out of habit than out of genuine excitement, at this point. In fact, I kinda like reading about wrestling on the 'net than watching it on TV. How sad is that?
I grew up below the Mason / Dixon line (Huckabee Country, baby! OK, just kidding -- I actually believe in silly things like evolution.), and always favored the NWA / WCW product to the WWF / WWE cartoon chicanery. Hulk Hogan was boring; he wanted me to do homework and eat vitamins. Ric Flair rocked; he banged hookers and rode in limos! I also dug the great tag teams -- like the Road Warriors, the Midnight Express, the Rock & Roll Express, etc. I also loved the Horsemen -- and was EXTREMELY intrigued by the bitter rivalry between the Atlanta (so-called) braintrust and the Stamford promotional machine. I don't know if it was my age or if it was the wrestling... but it FELT different back then.
Kids today certainly seem to enjoy the WWE, and I don't wanna piss on anyone's parade by being the bitter 30-something Gen-Xer who's boring everyone to tears with riveting stories about Melrose Place, Pearl Jam, Reaganomics and Jolt Cola... but unless Ric Flair & Arn Anderson can stumble across a time machine, I have a feeling that wrestling will be more of a passing curiosity to me than a source of great joy and genuine fascination in the years to come.
See, I don't like it enough to care -- and I'm not indifferent enough to turn away. So for me at least, I guess wrestling is like marriage.

Happy f'n New Year.
And that is why God, also known as Vince, gave us 24/7, where the weekly adventures of the (not-yet named as such) Horsemen are blowing away anything happening on WWE tv these days.
I still like the CONCEPT of wrestling. I buy the occasional retrospective DVD (like Raw 15). I used to buy the games religiously. But I don't watch anymore.
Even with my Tivo to let me skip over the boring, there's just not enough there to make me want to sit down and give 3 hours (without commercials) of my life to WWE a week. Terrible booking in the past, bad decision making, and uninteresting characters don't really work for me. I tried TNA for awhile but just couldn't get into it, aside from the nice in-ring work. And as for the games... I got tired of the constant balance issues allowing superheavyweights to effortlessly crush everyone (like, you know, the actual show) and having to remake my usual roster every year.
I've just lost interest. I read The-W and follow what's going on, so it's like Cliff Notes, but watching the actual shows isn't really that appealing.

Get Fire Pro Wrestling Returns! It'll be the best 15 dollars you'll ever spend on a wrestling video game.
Y'know, I've seriously been considering that. I have a friend who swears by the imports of the japanese ones, and it is cheap, so... to Amazon I go.
I do find it amusing that the most fun I have with wrestling is when I'm doing DIY characters in video games, though. "If the product stinks, I shall craft my own product!" and such.
Good thread. I know what you mean. I used to watch all the time as well, unitl I caught on to mixed martial arts. Now it just seems silly to watch pro wrestling.
In theory, the pro wrestling soap opera story lines should make it complement MMA nicely, but it just doesn't appear to be the case for me. Once they started pushing Cena to the moon (several years ago), I stopped watching.
