All I need is a belt to prove it and I'll be set!

My cousin, her husband, and their three kids (20, 16, 10) from Wolverhampton, England are staying with us for 2 weeks. My wife, who is already on vacation, is showing them all of the L.A. hotspots I dont care to see while I finish off my last week at work until the new year. Then next week, we're all off to Disneyland, Universal Studios Hollywood, Sea World San Diego, and all of the other L.A. hotspots that I DO care to see. Everybody wins.

We're not sure what we're doing for New Year's with them yet. Our New Year's activities are usually pretty boring, so we're trying to spice it up this year to avoid looking like total losers to our UK visitors.

First thing people say when I tell them the above: "OMG a whole family of 5 staying in your house? I wouldnt wish that on anybody!"

My response so far (Day 3): "It's not that bad actually. The only downside is that I havent touched my home computer for a couple days because the 16-year old keeps hogging it. Maybe I'll hate it more when I'm not working next week."

Stay Tuned!

Sunday, after Church, we are rolling from Louisville to Orlando. My Dada and Stepmom live there and we'll visit them, maybe go to the parks, and hang out a little in the sun. Back by the next Sunday, so only a few days down south.

We will be visiting a town near disney which is really neat. I cannot recall the name - but I am married - it's like having a spare memory. It's a winter wonderland - Florida style.

all that's assuming I get back from New Orleans, where I am now - off to the airport!

IJ and I took the day off and went Xmas shopping today. We're hanging out for the weekend until Santa comes and we do Xmas presents Tuesday morning, then we're driving down to Oregon for Xmas with the fam. We're actually doing it for our side of the family on Wednesday, then I'm driving home Wednesday night so I can work Thursday and Friday, and Mrs. JJD and Ij will take the train back Friday afternoon.

I don't know what the heck we're doing New Year's. Probably nothing, I'd guess.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and with weather in the low 30s to upper 20s, this is shaping up to be the coldest Christmas morning this Florida native has ever experienced. *My* holiday plans involve a blanket, about sixteen sweaters and my fireplace.

I am hanging out with my girlfriend's family and calling my kids on Christmas morning. Other than that, it's SSDD for me.

I'm visiting my folks who retired out to St. George, Utah. Just a brief stint out here, as I also have to work next week. Two things:

a) You can still see plenty of polygamists even after Warren Jeffs' conviction. (They're mostly at the Wal-Mart).

b) I'm pretty certain U.S Airways customer motto is "Go Fuck Yourself"

Big family Christmas party tommorrow, and in the tradition of most of our family get-togethers, it's supposed to rain. In upstate New York. In late December. Something doesn't fit there, but not much you can do about it I suppose.

Since everyone is working at least part of Christmas Eve, there's no major things planned except for our rapidly-becoming-traditional run to Turning Stone Casino for the buffet and a couple of hours gambling. How exactly this became tradition, I don't know, but it's different, and hey, last year I won 250 bucks, so maybe my luck will still be in (I doubt it though).

Christmas Day itself should be quiet, a dinner with the immediate family, and probably going and seeing some other folk too.

For reasons of creative incompetence, this space will be left blank. Advertising opportunities are avaliable though!!! Contact (Number removed due to pending litigation) for details!

So I did the drive to Kansas today. Started at 8 am. Dead car battery. Got a new battery, stared again at 9 am. Texas was great. Low traffic, mid 60's this morning and sunny. Then I hit Oklahoma...

I knew there was a reason I usually don't mention I was born there. Holy hellhole. Snowing the whole way. Plus apparently they've never heard of salt trucks there.

Also the bad weather from the previous few weeks destroyed every tree you could see over the entire state. That's just barely an exaggeration. Every other tree was missing huge limbs that snapped from the ice and cold. Never seen it that bad in my life.

Nine hour drive took 12.5 hours. I'm going to bed. Merry F'N Christmas.

Tomorrow, lunch with the father's side of the family. Monday, Mom's side, and for the first time I can remember, nothin' on Christmas Day proper.

Going to Denmark, Maine for a few days this week to visit my girlfriend's family. Then flying down to Florida to make the grandparent rounds, and finally going to see my parents sometime in mid-January.

Staying at home, playing video games, maybe going out for dinner.

Sucks to have no family around these parts.

I've seen 18 movies so far this year: Because I Said So - (2*); Borat - (5*); Children Of Men - (4*); Die Hard 4 - (5*); Enchanted - (5*); Evan Almighty - (3.5*); Fantastic Four 2 - (4.5*); Hairspray - (5*); Harry Potter 5 - (4*); Knocked Up - (4*); The Last Mimsy - (4*); Mr. Brooks - (4*); Resident Evil: Extinction - (3.5*); Shrek The Third - (3*); Simpsons Movie - (3*); Spiderman 3 - (3.5*); Superbad - (1*); Transformers - (2*)

First of all, been out of the office since last Wednesday and don't have to go back until January 2nd. (Not a teacher, just had a lot of leave time built up that I had to take or lose.)

Relax during the day on Christmas Eve. Later that day, the sig other's picking me up and we're going to his uncle's house for the combo Christmas Eve/birthday party.

On the day itself, we'll have dinner at his sister's house in the afternoon, then cap things off by going to see Sweeney Todd.

New Year's Eve, we're going to a "live band karaoke" party at our friends' recording/production studio.

My fiancée is off of work until Jan 2, but I have to go in for a half-day tomorrow and Thursday and Friday as well. Year-end in the IT industry = no rest for the weary.

We just got a Wii and we've burned ourselves out playing it this weekend. Christmas morning we're visiting my cousin for brunch then off to the future inlaws for dinner.

I don't know if we'll tackle any Boxing Day sales. Saturday we're going to the Flames/Ducks game, and we are still trying to plan something fun for New Year's Eve, but haven't had much luck yet.

If Jan 2 comes along and I haven't skied at some point, I'll be pretty upset with myself. Although, I must say it's been very un-Christmaslike here in Cowtown.

Since other updated, we're in Atlanta on the way to FLA - it's still too cold, if you ask me. People are in a HUGE hurry and the tireder I got the more they ticked me off.

Finish up tomorrow through the state that never ends (Georgia)

We've got something like 15 assorted people coming for dinner on Christmas Day, so it'll be pretty much continuous playing in the kitchen between now & then. With a brief break for opening presents that morning. (Many of which often end up being "from the Kitchen Elves".) But that's my idea of fun, so that all works out fine.

New Year's ... much too soon to have a clue. Just a wild-ass guess, but I bet it'll probably involve more kitchen time.

We do the traditional Polish Wigilia dinner, so tonight is pretty much the crux of the holiday celebration. Dinner is at 4, starting with breaking the Oplatek wafers, then an odd number of dishes, all meatless, even though the entire house smells like the ham that was baked in the morning in preparation for Christmas morning breakfast. Usually go home afterwards and nap until about 10, church at 11 for carols before Mass, and home around 1:30. Presents opened Christmas morning (6:45 AM *sharp*), then breakfast, then more sleep, then dinner around 5.

My brother's birthday is the day after Christmas, so we pretty much repeat everything except breakfast on Wednesday. New Year's Eve, I still go home for that since my parents put out a pretty good seafood spread. Then we drink, play cards and board games, drink more, and realize about 5 minutes before midnight that we have to turn the TV on.

I thought we could use a seasonal thread. Two for me, the 11 pm Christmas Eve service and having a live, decorated Frazier fur in the living room by the fire place.
