Absolutely outstanding episode last night. When I saw Dexter headbutt Doakes I cheered. I worry that he's getting too reckless, though. I do hope that Lila dies a fiery death, though, and he ends up back with Rita.
Saw it and loved it! I cant get over how I repeatedly find myself rooting for Dexter vs Dokes, despite the fact that in reality, Dexter is the bad guy and Dokes is actually an exceptionally good cop. In any conventional police movie, Dokes would be the hero and Dexter the villain. I guess thats how it is here, except the show gets you to root for the villain. Obviously, this is an excellent example of POV dictating roles in a story. This show has gotten better and better each episode, and I am really on the edge of my seat as we build towards the finale. I cant believe I am rooting against a legion of honest policemen who are trying to take down one of the most prolific serial killers of all time!!
As for the episode, just as the pre-emptive strike Dexter made in sending out the manifesto actually came back to bite him, I feel that his (kick-ass) maneuvers against Dokes will eventually come back to haunt him. A Well written and well executed episode this week, and I'm sure the next episode will be amazing as well!
"I own you" was AWESOME and shows everyone that Dexter is by far the smartest person on the show. I smiled big time after the headbutt. Just awesome.
I am also glad that Jobeth Williams will be gone. I did not like her character and the sooner she leaves the better.
Leila started out great and quickly went south. I look forward to a reconciliation with Rita.
Dexter is already my favorite drama on TV and one of only 5 shows I do not miss weekly.
"Marriage is like that show ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’, but it’s not funny. All the problems are the same, but you know instead of all the funny, pithy dialogue, everybody is really pissed off and tense. Marriage is like a tense, unfunny version of 'Everybody Loves Raymond', only it doesn't last 22 minutes. It lasts forever."
Yeah this was another great one. I tried telling a friend of mine how good this show is and he brushed it off as probably being predictable and boring. Big mistake. I hope he ends up renting Season 1.
What exactly was the significance of the light being fixed and working at the end of the episode? I missed something there.
Deb + Lundy = creepy. At least the obvious "I'm sorry" or "What are you thinking?" spiels didn't come afterwards. That's something great about this show; they don't spell everything out in the scene and you have to figure out what really happens through context in future scenes.
Lloyd: When I met Mary, I got that old fashioned romantic feeling, where I'd do anything to bone her. Harry: That's a special feeling.
The way I see it is that Dexter Realizes that what just happened is just like the lamp.
Leila will do anything to make sure that she gets her own way. Just like how she broke the other lamp to ensure her's got fixed, so to she torched her place to ensure that dex would come running.

Slick. Thanks for that, makes sense to me.
