The Next Iron Chef America thing is so horribly done I can't stand it. I was expected a great show that was basically an Iron Chef tournament style setting but instead we get stupid competitions to "test" them in different areas they would need to be an Iron Chef. Hey, you know what would be the best test? AN ACTUAL IRON CHEF SYTLE COMPETITION!!! It should have been face each other in a tournament, then the winner has to beat Mario to be an Iron Chef. That would have ruled.
Not to mention that one judge from I think Bon Appetit clearly has a bug up his ass and hated Sanchez. That was some bullshit there.
Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you... The shows I watch with regularity: 30 Minute Meals, Everyday Italian, Iron Chef America, and Good Eats. On occasion, I'll check out Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and Dinner: Impossible.
This may sound sacrilegious, but I can't get into the original Iron Chef. Maybe it's because they'll cook food I'll actually eat with regularity on ICA instead of depending on seafood or exotic ingredients I've never heard of all the time. Maybe it's because I can actually understand the commentary on ICA. Or maybe it's because Batali's the king, I dunno. It's one of those three.
smark/net attack Advisory System Status is: Elevated (Holds; June 18, 2006) While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.
I don't watch him near as much as I used to, but I could kinda see this coming. They moved his show from 7pm Central a while back to 6pm. Guess maybe ratings aren't what they used to be? But then again I liked Essense much better as a cooking show anyway.
Is the original Iron Chef still on the air somewhere? I don't think I've seen an episode on tv in forever.
If Alton Brown is on, I'm watching. I even suffer through Iron Chef America (I absolutely HATE Bobby Flay and the Italian Chef who, thankfully, I can not remember his name).
The funny thing about the Food Channel is as much as I like their programs, I hate their hosts. Flay, Rachel Ray, Giada, Paula, Emeril et. al.. I find them either too pompous and egotistical or just too over the top or fake.
I "kid" my wife all the time about Paula by saying that see Southerns Up her accent on the show to hide the fact that she is cartoon character with no substance at all. Of course, this gets me daggers, but so be it.
Regardless, I still watch most of them (except Flay and Emeril) so the jokes on me.
"Marriage is like that show ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’, but it’s not funny. All the problems are the same, but you know instead of all the funny, pithy dialogue, everybody is really pissed off and tense. Marriage is like a tense, unfunny version of 'Everybody Loves Raymond', only it doesn't last 22 minutes. It lasts forever."

We recently changed providers, so we have a new DVR, which meant a lot of shows from before didn't make the cut into series recordings now. As it currently stands our series recordings are:
