And the Yanks going 6-0 against Cleveland in the regular season helped them so much in the ALDS.
Boston in 6.
So you're comparing the team that has been the biggest choke artists in sports for at least the past four years to the team that is having one of the best runs in history? Not a very good argument.
No. I'm saying regular season stuff doesn't matter now. Heck, the Sox were 5-2 against Cleveland in the regular season, but needed a 7 game series (with coming back from 3-1 down) to advance to the World Series.
OK, if the Red Sox don't win, you can all blame the Springfield Falcons. The Falcons, who compete in the American Hockey League, have decided to move their scheduled October 30th home game with Binghamton to December 11th, because
“With all of the excitement surrounding the Boston Red Sox and the World Series, we thought as an organization this change made sense,” said Falcons president and general manager Bruce Landon. “The Red Sox in the World Series is a big event for all of New England and we want our fans to have a chance to enjoy the moment.”
Astute readers will note that there is, in fact, NO GAME scheduled for October 30th, unless the Sox and Rox are going to share a charter, and play game 5-and-a-half at 35,000 feet. These same astute readers may ALSO note that this postponement would make sure that the game might not conflict with any victory celebrations, should Boston win in 5. This has to be a jinx, right?

This is the biggest scam in the history of scams. They're getting so much advertising value and will give out so few tacos.
If there's a stolen base during game 1 or 2, you can get that free taco ONLY on October 30 (Tuesday) and ONLY between 2pm and 5pm local time, not exactly peak time.
If the stolen base is during the other games, the taco giveaway isn't till November 7, a week after the last game is played.
If you're going for a free taco (which isn't going to cost much), you're probably going to buy enough other stuff to mitigate the cost. There'll definitely be people who get there free taco and split, but not all.
The more I think about it, the people who are getting screwed are the front line people who will have to deal with everyone coming in looking for a free taco, don't know those rules, and will get very angry about not getting their $0.79 taco.

Well, from my experience, Taco Bell tacos are "the gift that keeps on giving", ifyouknowwhatImean...
No steals, but the Rockies must be feeling like they got mugged. Just a totally dominating game by the Red Sox, in all facets. The offense was explosive and patient, the pitching was commanding, and it looked like a Major League team beating up on a minor league team. Which is what it was, basically.
Not that the Rockies were going to come back from 6-1 after 5, but the balk broke the game open. 2 outs no runs in at the time of the balk, 7 runs in by the time the inning was over turned the game from being a few baserunners from being interesting to a full-fledged rout. I saw the Celtics pull the Mother's Day Massacre and the Memorial Day Massacre in Game 1 of series in the 80's and then lose both times, so, unlike Gugs, I'm not close to declaring this series over.

Ohhhhhhh. Right, now I remember. Yeah, that loss last night was almost as bad as losing 19-8 at home in the playoffs, eh?

Echoed. The Sox were clearly the better team last night, and unless the Rockies can come back and win tonight to get momentum back they're done - and then they still have to win two at home to have a chance. But the "Major vs. Minor" tripe is just pathetic.
I know I'm far from the most dedicated baseball fan on this site, especially now that my Braves are stinking it up on a regular basis, but.. Royce Clayton is still in baseball?!

Amazingly enough, yes. Signed with the Blue Jays, was cut, then signed with the Red Sox AAA team.

If you want to take one Sox fan's dumb comment to justify your hatred, then so be it. Personally, I'll take being hated and have the team I root for win championships instead of rooting for a team that found new ways to lose but have other people feel sympathy for you or having other's experience schadenfreude at your expense (hello Yankee fans).
Well, the Rockies have them right where they want them....
Seriously, it's just a matter of if Colorado can salvage some pride tonight, since Beckett is closing the door in Game Five regardless. Last night's game was literally a few inches away from being great. If Spilborghs' deep blast to center goes a few more feet, or if Julio Lugo stretched his arm just slightly less, it could've been a whole different story. Give the Rockies credit for coming back when a lot of teams would've mentally quit after going down 6-0.
Why do I have a bad feeling we'll be in for a month of Eckstein-esque gritty undersized underdog stories about Ellsbury and Pedroia?

I have to say I always find people who hate entire groups of fans to be rather ridiculous. I didn't like it when the Yankees became the Evil Empire, and I don't like it now with this mindless Boston hate from everyone outside of NYC. The only time an entire group should be "hated" is when it comes down to rivalries - Michigan/Ohio State, Red Sox/Yankees, etc. Otherwise it just doesn't make sense; we have spent a lot of time in the political sphere working to lessen stereotypes and generalizing, but it's ok to group all Red Sox fans together because you personally don't agree with them being happy over a championship-caliber team? Give me a break. When my Wolverines or Tigers or Red Wings are good, I'm going to be happy. I'm going to act like a fan. Why should I begrudge someone else from doing the same?
That said, I've always universally had problems (outside of the troglodyte Buckeye fans) with USC and Laker fans.
As for the "Major/Minor" thing, sorry National League. You guys aren't as good right now. My Tigers errored it up to hand the Cardinals a World Series, and that's it. Right now the talent level in both leagues is comparable to the NFC and AFC with the American League in the role of the AFC.
Now, to the game itself. I was shocked at this. I'll admit I had Boston in 5, but I absolutely expected the Rockies to win this game. When Holliday cut the score down to one, I figured that would be the trigger. But one errant play in the outfield and the game swings back to Boston. Wow. And how about Daisuke notching 2 RBIs?
Schilling won today, so we don't care about Sunday anymore. I have more problems with Francona's in-game moves over the first two games than with l'affaire de Pedro (with, my only concern over that being when Manny leaves early as he emulates Pedro.
