Oh come on. Those are classics and if you're as old as you claim up there, then you would know that. Really. Dude.

Safety Dance - I have that big old yellow album. I need to give that baby a spin "if they don't dance, they're no friends of mine"

Anthem for a generation. Although, I believe I was into punk when this song came out and only got it (the album) for one of the other songs. Plus, it's not on the radio every couple hours like some songs I could name.

Carrie Underwood's "WHEN HE CHEATS". I can't stand that song. She sounds like a poor man's Leann Rimes. IT doesn't help that it's on heavy rotation on BOTH the local COuntry and A/C stations.

I've seen 16 movies so far this year: Because I Said So - (2*); Borat - (5*); Children Of Men - (4*); Die Hard 4 - (5*); Evan Almighty - (3.5*); Fantastic Four 2 - (4.5*); Hairspray - (5*); Harry Potter 5 - (4*); Knocked Up - (4*); The Last Mimsy - (4*); Mr. Brooks - (4*); Resident Evil: Extinction - (3.5*); Shrek The Third - (3*); Spiderman 3 - (3.5*); Superbad - (1*); Transformers - (2*)

Nickelback, How You Remind Me

I´m convinced that song is responsible for most of the wrong in the world today.

Right on. I know Pink Floyd was an great band and all, and I have most of their good albums, but I am f'ing sick of them.

Pink Floyd, although annoying, isn't nearly as bad as the Stones. Personally, I'm hard pressed to think of ANYTHING they've ever done worth listening to for longer than it takes to figure out who is playing. Maybe if they did a cover of 4'33"

This is why I don't understand the classic rock radio format and how its listeners can get excited to hear the same Stones/Zeppelin/Floyd/The Who/ACDC etc. songs over and over and over and over again.

It's like watching The Price is Right (until recently) you could go back in time 5, 10, 15, 20 years and it's the same thing. Maybe that's comforting to some.

Ok guys, here's the story. When I used to work in nightclubs DJing and bartending... I heard these songs EVERY SINGLE NIGHT of the week, back to back in that order. After a while, it bacame a joke and then it got really annoying, and finally it got to the point where I'd have to step outside to get away from the fucking songs.

Then, I'd be at the mall, or eating somewhere, and one of them would come on, and I'd get that twitch in my and my brain would start hurting because I was fucking sick and tired of hearing the damn songs that I'd get even more pissed off at them.

I'd be riding in a car with someone and one would come on the radio. I'd be flipping the television channels and I'd see that damn video for Safety Dance on POP UP VIDEO on VH1 and I'd turn the damn thing off.

I remember one day where I started counting and I came up with hearing Come On Eileen 15 times from the time I woke up to the time I went to bed.

Really, those two songs will be my soundtrack for when I get to hell.

We're already in hell here at the W, Cerebus. Thanks.

We can dance if we want to, we can leave your friends behind
Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're are no friends of mine
I say, we can go where we want to, A place where they will never find
And we can act like we come from out of this world
Leave the real one far behind,
and we can dance

If I hear either "Like a Rock" by Bob Seger (who I love) or "This is Our Country" by John Mellencamp again, I'm going to have to bomb my local Chevy dealership.

I'm also convinced Justin Timberlake's voice can cause seizures, so I could probably do without any song by him, too.

Oh, and that frickin' Oasis song that AT&T uses.

That oughta do it.

Sweet Home Alabama.

The fact that it's recently been named the state song for Alabama ensures I'll never visit there (not even if asked to by Bob Holly).

Hmmm...not counting people who mentioned groups, how many of these songs are on my Ipod?

-Stairway to Heaven
-Before He Cheats
-Chasing Cars (four different versions)
-Walking on Sunshine
-Radar Love
-All Around the World (the Oasis song)

This thread makes me sad

Nope. This song will always remind me of Jack Black in High Fidelity and it always cracks me up a bit when I hear it.

And Safety Dance reminds me of Scrubs when Carla asks Turk what if he soon to be born child is a son and he wants to dance. Turks indifferent response leads right into the Safety Dance choris followed by the actual Safety Dance.

I do not hear these songs that much anymore so they don;t bother me when I do. Plus, I am a child of the 80s so it brings me back to my youth.

Did you mean L'Trimm? (Although if Le Tigre did a version of it, that MIGHT be awesome.)

This is the Song that Never Ends

If someone ever complains they have a song stuck in their head, just sing one of those at them and cue the screaming.

Just wait until you have kids. The Song that Never Ends: our kids know it drives us insane, so they sing that. Small World is the song my daughter and I share because we had such a good time at Disney on that ride. At first she was too scared to go on the ride (she was 6 at the time), but then we went on multiple times after she got over her fear. We collect the little pins from Small World now, too. So, while it pains me to say, it's like "our song" now. I am so sorry....
