-Tonight: Mr. Kennedy returns from his Wellness Suspension to face John Cena. Youd think theyd want to milk that. Im guessing its one of those three-minute main events with a schmoz ending. Also, Randy Orton is not at RAW tonight, says WWE.com.

-WWE Open.

-RAW Open.

-JR and Jerry Lawler welcomed us to RAW, LIVE from Cleveland, Ohio. They immediately plug the main event of John Cena vs. Mr. Kennedy. In the ring are three quite out of shape men in wrestling tights. Could we be returning to the Rodney Mack White Boy Challenge? Nope, Mr. McMahons music hit before we could consider the possibilities any longer. These look like jobbers from a mid-90s edition of Superstars. Triple H vs. Mr. McMahon tonight, and Vince guaran-damn-tees a win. Then he sent it to a video package of Vince beating up Triple H at various times throughout history. Apparently, each men in the ring represent a different fighting style. One man is an amateur wrestling champion, another a champion in karate, and the last (and biggest) man is the Ohio State sumo champion. The only champions these guys look like are hot-dog eating champions. Vince forgot the name of the town for some heel heat. Looks like hes gonna take on all three at once. Before they can touch, Vince said hes going to bring out someone who will demonstrate what he will do to Triple H at No Mercy...and its the also returning from Wellness suspension Umaga. Umaga beat up all three guys, of course, though they had enough credentials to be in Roddy Pipers family. Samoan Spike to the sumo champion, and thats it. The announcers do a nice job putting Umaga over, but we all know whatll happen.

[Break]

(1) Jeff Hardy & Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. Shelton Benjamin & Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch
This could be fun. Inverted atomic drop and a hurricanrana by London on Murdoch to start. Kendrick is in and things have picked up quickly. Some fast tags for the heels and the crowd is behind Kendrick. Heel kick by Kendrick turned the tide, and he was able to make the tag to Jeff Hardy. Whisper in the Wind by Jeff. He sent up for the Swanton, but was crotched on the top by Shelton. London took Shelton out and Kendrick took out Murdoch. Sliced Bread #2 by Kendrick on Cade well the refs back is turned, and Hardy hit the Swanton for the win.

Winners: London, Kendrick and Hardy at 3:21. Fast paced, but I would like to see that match go 15.

-Recently re-instated William Regal was backstage talking on the phone. Apparently, Regal made the main event for tonight. McMahon asked Regal to look after his son tonight. Man, Regal got stuck with Eugene too! Vince will hold Regal personally responsible for his sons welfare. Of course, as soon as Vince left, Regal lost him.

-We hit the wayback machine to five weeks ago, where Randy Orton kicked John Cenas father in the head. Well hear from Randy Orton next.

[Break]

-Randy Orton, once again, joined RAW LIVE via satellite from Chicago. JR asked Orton why he wasnt at RAW. He said he was waiting in Chicago rather than being in Cleveland, what with Cenas state of mind. Another clip of Orton punting Cenas dads head was shown. He addressed Cena directly, then said hed be the next WWE Champion.

-Lawler plugged his favorite team, the Indians success. Some of them were sitting right behind the announcers, including DH Travis Hafner.

-A DivaSearch video aired.

-Backstage, Regal was searching in vain for Hornswaggle. He came upon the Highlanders, who said the only match they want is a World Tag Title Match. They made a statement last week, and theyll be Tag Champs whether Regal (or us?) like it or not.

[Break]

(2) Cody Rhodes vs. Hardcore Holly
Cody made the return-match challenge, and I guess Holly accepted. A couple arm-drags by Rhodes. Holly put Rhodes down with his textbook dropkick for a one-count. Hard chops by Holly in the corner. Backslide by Rhodes for a near-fall. Inside cradle was next, to no avail. Rhodes countered a suplex and tried a roll-up for two. Holly caught Rhodes on the ropes and applied the Alabama Slam. Chalk another win up for Hardcore.

Winner: Holly at 1:55.

-The main event is Cena/Kennedy, tonight!

[Break]

-Beth Phoenix came to the ring and took the mic from Lillian Garcia. She declared herself the Glamazon, just as beautiful as she is dangerous. She said it was a formality that she will beat Candice at No Mercy. She wanted Lillian to announcer has as new Womens Champion. So Lillian obliged, adding assuming you can beat Candice Michelle this Sunday. Beth took exception to that. Beth got physical with Lillian until Candice came out to defend her fellow diva. The camera stayed on the ladies quite a while.

-Triple H was taping his hands backstage as we saw video of what happened earlier tonight with Umaga beating the jobbers. Back to Triple H warming up. That match is next.

[Break- What looked like the same SaveUs222" ad as last week aired.]

(3) Mr. McMahon vs. Triple H
If Trips can beat the Tag Team Champions, he should have no problem with a 60-year old non-wrestling chairman, right? Right? Vince cut Triple Hs showboating short in order to start the match. There was no ref for the match, strangely. Carlito then walked out with a referee shirt on. Carlito stalled a bit to start, and as Trips walked toward him, Vince cowered between the ropes. Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco shouldve joined Vince in preparation for his match, for old-times sake. Vince went to the outside, and Triple H got impatient, so he gave chase. Vince went back in the ring and slid out the other side. Triple H blind-sided Vince on the outside, and threw him head-first into the ring announcers table. Carlito was pissed, so he shoved Triple H. Carlito was then shoved down as Triple H went in the ring for the Pedigree. Carlito came back in and hit the Backstabber. Carlito got Vince on top and went for a fast count, but Triple H kicked out. Low blow on Vince followed by a right hand to Carlito. At this point, the ref had no choice but to DQ Triple H.

Winner: McMahon at 2:49

-Trips tried to go after Vince after the bell, but Umaga came down and the two went toe-to-toe with the fisticuffs. Umaga tried to Samoan Drop Triple H, but Trips snuck out and DDTd Umaga. Umaga of course, like every Samoan, has a rock-hard head and continued his assault of the former DX member. Umaga just could not straight squash Triple H here, as Trips kept stopping Umagas offense. Finally, the Samoan hit the butt-drop and Carlito clotheslined him out of the ring. That was just as Umaga was about to hit the Samoan Spike. Trips went under the ring for the sledgehammer, causing Umaga to back down and leave the ring. Unbelievable.

-First time ever, Cena/Kennedy, is tonight. Over an hour in, and we havent heard from either guy. Considering they have little history together, youd think theyd try to stir something up.

[Break]

-A new segment on RAW tonight: Marella At The Movies. Santino and Maria come down to the ring, which is covered in red carpet with two chairs inside. Of course, Santino is reviewing The Condemned. This better end with Austin eventually stunning Santino. Maria admitted she liked Stone Cold in the movie. He said the movie couldve been good, but they needed a real star. He suggested himself for the lead. Santino spliced himself into a clip of the movie. The last persons music I expected to hear hit, and Val Venis came to the ring. Well, according to his gimmick, hes been in several movies. Santino made a joke about a movie Venis was in, and Val said Marias got talent hes looking for. Val is starring in a sequel to Mr. Woodcock. At this point, Santino tried to take her and lead. He said she could star with him, or in a movie about Santinos lovemaking skills: Superbad. I wonder who had to explain what that movie was to Vince. Marella got physical at this point and did a number on Vals leg.

-Todd Grisham was backstage with John Cena. Cena said some people have seen enough and that its Randys time. He accused Grisham of having naked pictures of Umaga on his website. Cena got intense, saying hed never stay down. Cena said hed beat Randy Orton so bad at No Mercy, theyd (the fans?) never forget it.

[Break]

(4) Melina vs. Mickie James
JR had the funniest line of the night, trying to talk to a distracted King about Melina, when Jerry didnt know who he was talking about: Im talking about the referee Chad Patton, he had a sex change....Im talking about Melina! Quick cover by Melina started things off. That was followed by a hair toss. More hair pulling ensued. Mickie reversed a throw into the buckle. Lots of screaming from Melina as the two traded forearms. Mickie hit a running clothesline, then an enziguiri. That got the former womens champ a two count. Melina hit a chop to the throat, then she set up for her finisher. Hornswaggle distracted her a bit, and Mickie go the roll-up for the three.

Winner: Mickie at 2:53

-Melina went under the ring to get Hornswaggle. After a few seconds, Hornswaggle came out with Melinas bottoms. He went back under and came out with her top. Melina stuck her head out from under the ring, and Hornswaggle ran up the ramp with her attire.

-Another plug for Cena/Kennedy tonight.

[Break]

-William Regal found Hornswaggle backstage, ogling at his latest possessions. Regal said hed go blind if he kept looking at them. Then Dr. Steve-O walked in. He was looking backstage for a wuss to put on his latest show. As he left, Regal once again lost track of Hornswaggle. A Steve-O chant came from the crowd.

-JR and King ran down the No Mercy card.

-Steve-O came upon Ron Simmons backstage. He said he thought Ron could be a little tougher. Ron seemed interested, then grabbed Steve-O and threw him through a door labeled EXIT.

-John Cena came out for his match with Mr. Kennedy. Strange that we havent even SEEN Kennedy up to this point.

[Break]

(5) John Cena vs. Mr. Kennedy
Kennedy got the mic and said he really doesnt like Cena. JR admitted this is a no-win situation for Cena and a no-lose one for Kennedy. Kennedy grabbed a side-headlock, then put Cena down with a shoulder tackle. Hip-toss by Cena, then an arm-drag take-down. Clean break in the corner from both competitors. Kennedy clubbed away at Cena and the crowd was way into it at this point. Reversal into the buckle went Kennedy, and a face-plant by Cena. Kennedy though, overtook Cena. Dueling Lets go Cena and Lets go Kennedy chants. Cena ducked to the outside and Kennedy directed him head-first into the steel steps. Kennedy went into the ring then back out to break the count. Last ad-break of the night.

[Break]

Back live, both men were in the ring and hurting. Rear chinlock by Kennedy on Cena. Back-suplex by Cena to escape. Cena then applied the STFU and Kennedy quickly tapped.

Winner: Cena at 7:47. Weird finish. Out of nowhere and clean.

-After the match, Randy Orton came out and RKOd Cena. Orton took off the top half of the steel steps and rammed them right into Cenas face. He then began to re-style the announce table. He took a monitor and ran that into Cenas head too. Orton stood on the desk with Cena and gave him the RKO. The table did not break. With Cena down, Orton shouted one through ten at his face. Cena was down for the ten-count. JR said this was beyond personal. Clips of Ortons attack then aired. JR said hed seen car crashes that were more mundane. He wondered if there was any way Cena could survive this Sunday. Cena was left lying as the show ended.

EDIT: After the show ended, Steve-O was back in the arena, chiding Simmons for throwing him out. Simmons asked if he had somewhere to be, then Steve-O mentioned his show started now. Simmons then threw him out for a second time.

I must say that the running shooting star press that London did off the apron was pretty badass. I imagine Kendrick tried to kill himself too on the other side. Too bad the TV crew missed it. (Damn near missed the London spot too)

This week it was 8.11.2_SAVIOUR_SELF (I may be wrong on those numbers) and it also lingered for a moment on GRAND_SLAM.

Right numbers, wrong order. It was 8.2.11, which is starting up rumors that it might refer to HBK (8/2/11 are the respective places in the alphabet for those 3 letters).

Not sure I get the "FIRE ME VINCE" reference?

London did a SSP last year or perhaps earlier this year (a standing version, I believe), and rumors are that Vince chewed him out backstage for it, going so far as to tell London he'd fire him on the spot should he perform the move again.

London's been doing SSPs over the last month. While Kendrick usually hits the finishing move for the team with Sliced Bread #2, when London had to hit a move for the win, it's the running SSP. So I don't seriously think his job is in any jeapordy, whatever the past rumours have said.

Hmm, HBK is also a possibility. He and Jericho are both 'Grand Slam' champions, though I don't think anyone has used that designation in WWE for years.

Which means we'll likely get World Champion Randy Orton at the PPV. (I cite 2002's Big Show v. Lesnar Survivor Series as precedent)

PWInsider is reporting that the word making the rounds at the Raw taping in Cleveland, OH on Monday night was that WWE Champion John Cena is believed to have suffered a torn right pectoral muscle during his match against Mr. Kennedy.

WWE.com is reporting that Cena headed to Birmingham, Alabama right away to meet with Dr. James Andrews for an evaluation. Cena is believed to have suffered the injury during a botched hip toss on Kennedy that saw Kennedy land on Cena awkwardly.

For those watching live, you could clearly see Cena speaking with the referee after the match. He apparently gutted out the rest of his match with Kennedy in pain as well as the ending to the show where he was "attacked" by Randy Orton, which included an RKO on the announcers table. As of now, Cena is still scheduled to face Orton this Sunday at No Mercy in a Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Title. WWE has the latest at this link.

We will continue to follow this story as it develops, which has potential to be a huge blow to WWE if Cena will need time off as a result of the injury.

Yeah, but I can't see HBK using a campaign like this one. Everything about this campaign points to Jericho, right down to the fact that he arrived into the WWE as the self-proclaimed savior of the company.

At this point, if it's not Jericho and they haven't openly denied it, then it's the cruelest prolonged misdirection that the WWE has done in years.

WWE has a way of changing things at the last second just to "show the fans that they were all wrong"

So at this point, expect it to be..... X-Pac, or something.

Why would they do such cryptic advertising for an event which is already known on the PPV calendar, and which is already being advertised in local PPV markets?

To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow

I have to agree with oldschoolhero, why would they want to use mystery promos to hype their PPV? Putting aside all fantasies about Jericho returning, the more I think about it, the more I think that is is HBK.

True it doesn't seem like his style in recent years, but maybe, just maybe, they have decided to tweak his character for the first time since 2002? Some would even say since 1992.

[Orton] said he was waiting in Chicago rather than being in Cleveland

After the match, Randy Orton came out and RKOd Cena.

Is this the second or third time they've done this exact same bit in this feud? Is this supposed to be building to something or intensely lazy writing?
