Well, after a good first three issues, it comes crashing down somewhat this month. I can accept it as a setup issue, but it was still disappointing, considering the long wait since the third issue and the third issue's final page.
-Doctor Strange is infused with the demon Zom, a demon so powerful that he makes the Living Tribunal and Dormammu collectively wet themselves. With such powerful, Strange easily disposes of Hulk's Warbound and even takes the Green Goliath himself down a peg. -But remember, we're living in the Civil War Era, meaning any possible threat of collateral damage automatically turns any hero into a blubbering mess. So when Strange nearly brings down a building on civilians, he spends a few pages crying about it until Hulk gets up and whoops his ass. So much for the all-powerful Zom. It should be noted, though, that Hulk saved the people from getting crushed, which I'm sure will get brought up later. -And sure enough, just like I feared last month, with the four Illuminati members captured, we get to a very old cliche. Hulk makes his prisoners fight each other for his amusement. A bunch of stuff happens that leads to Reed Richards defeating Tony Stark. Hulk asks the rabid crowd for a thumbs up/thumbs down. -The issue ends with the Sentry finally deciding that today's a good day to get out of the house. Big Blue Big Yellow flies off towards Manhattan.
It should be noted that this month's artwork was atrocious, in my opinion. I could barely tell that Hulk was landing killer blows on Strange. It'd be one thing if it was a three-week wait like last time, but this was a six-week layoff between issues. The artwork should get better, not worse, in that instance. It's almost as much a killer as the aforementioned plot cliches.
Still, I'll be there for Issue #5, just to see how things end. I'm sure they'll be going all out to put over the Sentry huge here, but I'll read on in spite of that.
Is anyone else kind of disappointed that the whole series has been leading up to Hulk-Sentry? I mean, Sentry? Really? I'm still not used to this guy as the new standard for power in the MU. It's like in wrestling when they bring a guy in and push him down the fans' throats.

If anything, THIS should have been the big coming out moment for Thor. The interest for that battle would have been huge and probably made Issue #5 a sellout. The only logic I can see in not including Thor would be that Hulk's going over and Sentry's not winning this round or Sentry loses his marbles and unleashes the dreaded Void again.
That's not to knock JMS' new Thor series, which is great stuff that you all should be reading. But Thor coming back during the big summer event could have been special, know what I mean?

Next month in Young Avengers - Thor saves the kids from an attack by Kang the Conqueror, then after they thank him beats the shit out of them and laughs about it with Iron Man.

I think you just unintentionally spoiled the ending of this mini.

I can see how the scenario is likely, but until the issue hits shelves, it's less a spoiler than it is just wild speculation.
Oh, I wasn't trying to say that you were posting spoilers. But the idea of Sentry turning into the Void, which this time the Hulk and his Warbound are able to defeat, thus saving the world and proving that the Hulk was a true hero all along - all that seems like a substantially good way to wrap up WWH. When you wrote that, it just totally convinced me that was where they were going with this.
After reading this thread I went and picked up all four issues that are currently out.
I have to say, I enjoyed it quite a bit. I agree to an extent with some of the complaints about issue 4, but seeing where the story had gone previously and this being the build-up to the climax, I thought it was alright.
It's amazing, though, in that it's such a simple story to tell that I was shocked they didn't screw it up by overcomplicating it and adding in way too many subplots and characters (that's more a knock on the industry in general rather than Marvel). Also, it's Hulk beating the crap out of everybody, which is always great.
"Looks like we're all monsters, now" was such a wonderful line, even if a bit trite. I also like that while Marvel was insisting they weren't trying to make people pick one side over another during Civil War, in this series it's very clear that Iron Man, Richards, et al were in the wrong for what they did to Hulk.
The whole question of whether or not it's Bruce of the Hulk doing all this is something that I'm enjoying, but simultaneously I feel like they should be exploring just a little bit more.
But overall, not bad. And it's a Hell of a lot easier to follow and catch up on than, say, Countdown...which, man, I've been more of a DC fan since I was 16, but TOO MUCH STUFF.
