I'd expect a tribute of some kind on GSN. She was always good for an off-color quip and could hold her own against the likes of Charles Nelson Reilly. That couldn't have been easy.
In the wake of CNR's passing, I bought the "Best of Match Game" 4-DVD set, and I thoroughly entertained a dinner party by playing the commentary of Brett Somers through the show's highlights.
Hopefully Brett, Charles, and Gene are making fun of Dumb Dora together somewhere.
RIP. I can't get enough Match Game, and her and Charles were so good together. I'm hoping for the appropriate tribute, if only so I can watch a bunch of Match Games this weekend.
Brett Somers reminded me of my grandmother - voice, appearance, personality, everything. It amused me when I was a kid and made watching the reruns extremely bittersweet since her passing in 2000. This news therefore makes me sad on a very unique level.
I always loved her on that show. Such a shame. RIP. EDIT: I just realized, she was only 83? That means she was in her early 50s on Matchgame? Good lord she looked in her late 60s back then.
