CM Punk as ECW Champion is a breath of fresh air. I like his confidence. I really liked him autographing and forcing Armando Estrada to wear the new CM Punk shirt. And Armando's reaction: "You shouldn't have. Really, you shouldn't have."
When Punk tagged in, the main event tag match suddenly turned into a Saturday morning Wrestling Challenge 1980's squash match. Punk hits four moves of doom and stick a fork in Kevin Thorn.
I guess the big news is that Elijah Burke is the number one contender and will challenge Punk at Unforgiven. He also made note that he recruited Punk for the New Breed. Continuity!
The even bigger news is Balls gave Kelly Kelly a stuffed animal and Kelly almost kissed him but didn't. But it was good enough for Balls, whose schoolboy crush on the former exhibitionist continues.
Q&D:
Matt Striker beat Little Guido quickly with a roll up The Miz beat Tommy Dreamer ("Hi, Tommy!" as Mr. McMahon said on Monday) Mike Knox beat Balls Mahoney CM Punk and Stevie Richards beat Elijah Burke and Kevin Thorn
Not a bad show this week. Next week: The Boogeyman vs. Big Daddy V. It's on.

The station that carried it here had it on late at at night after American Gladiators which ticked off my mom at the time because I wouldn't want to get up to go to Church the next morning. I so loved Wrestling Challenge, Superstars, All American Wrestling, and Wrestling Spotlight. Those syndicated shows were really fun to watch.
Even if it was very rare to have a actual wrestler take on another name wrestler. Somewhere in the 90's we really lost the art of the jobber. Yeah, there still around a bit but not as much as seeing them every week continue to lose.
As for ECW I didn't get to watch it, had to go drop some money off, but it sounds like an improvement with Punk leading that brand right now.
"World, Canadian, Celtic, Fusion all pulled off as there own."
What is really annoying is that Mike Knox won. Also did they even mention that Kelly Kelly and Knox had a past? I like Elijah Burke. Clearly there is no way in hell he will win but he can leave the script if necessary during promos. Also who else is there? BDV is tough enough but mute monsters aren't supposed to win the title (we will just ignore SD).
Marge I am just trying to get into heaven not run for Jesus.
I don't mind Knox returning if for no other reason than it gives ECW another body on the roster. It's ridiculous trying to run a wrestling show with the same 12 guys for weeks on end.
And Knox improved a LOT over his ECW tenure. Iwouldn't book him in any Iron Man matches or anything, but he's a carryable guy.
To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow
I think Big Bad's point was speaking more to the number of wrestlers in ECW. If you look at wwe.com, ECW has 23 superstars shown. Two of those are for Resident Evil, three are in Extreme Expose so they don't really count, two are announcers, one is the GM and another is a ring announcer. That leaves 14 wrestlers. Now look at Raw. 40 superstars, one GM, one backstage interviewer, two announcers, one chairman, one ring announcer, one executive assistant and one Queen. That still leaves 32 wrestlers. ECW doesn't have much room for variety, even though their show is only an hour long.
