The show starts with champ John Morrison listing his various nicknames -- Tuesday Night Delight, Shaman of Sexy, etc. -- and running down his contenders for the title. He has a fantastic look for a slimy heel, but he's just a bit reserved on the mic. He drops a "set the night on fire" quote. Note that this Doors ripoff has a Hendrix-esque entrance theme. He has a nice dig at Punk: you don't smoke, don't do drugs, don't win championships.

+ Kevin Thorn vs. Stevie Richards
Thorn muscles Stevie around and focuses on the neck. A hangman on the turnbuckle cable brings up a mention of a voicebox implant from his neck surgery. Stevie makes the Punk-like comeback with kicks, but Thorn uses about 35 clotheslines to take control. He wins with the rope-draped stunner. Thorn no longer has his fangs, and I miss his pimped-out entrance.

+ Balls Mahoney vs. Elijah Burke
Balls is shockingly popular with the crowd. The Miz sits ringside to mock Balls, but Kelly cheers for him. Balls can't put Burke away with the Nutcracker Suite, and Burke wins after the Elijah Express. Miz continues the mocking. Kelly checks on balls but eventually walks after Miz.

Punk interrupts Estrada and Morrison backstage and eats some of their cantaloupe.

+ Big Daddy V/CM Punk/Boogeyman/Miz for the No. 1 Contender Slot
Daddy V clobbers everyone and chucks Punk to the floor in what looks like a slightly botched spot. Punk lands hard and stays there a bit. Boogeyman does NOTHING in this match but linger outside; he even gets worked over by Miz, of all people. Daddy takes himself out of the match by tumbling over the railing, and Punk and Miz are left in the ring. Miz, by the way, looks surprising competent in there. Punk hits his usual moves (including a nasty corner kneelift) and the G2S ends the match. Punk is again the top contender for Morrison's belt.

Did the Miz have a spray-on tan ? His skin tone looked almost freakish.

I hope that this isn't the quick return to jobbing for Stevie Richards, seeing that he has much more charisma and emotion then Kevin Thorn.

I wonder if he's trying to affect the stoned poet delivery of Jim Morrison, and it just comes across as stiff. I didn't see his podium speech on RAW; was he as bad then?

I'm actually enjoying this show a bit more recently. Miz does "obnoxious" extremely well.

If Morrison ever learns to be less stiff on the microphone, and sound less like he's reciting memorized lines, then Tuesdays with Morri could be pretty good.

Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you...

OK, Vince, you've had your fun; can you please put Punk over now? Enough is enough, already. You pulled this same stunt with Chavo last year and it didn't exactly accomplish anything...

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

Seconded. I have been enjoying ECW as of late, but I still end up fast forwarding through every Morrison promo.

I dunno. It accomplished not wasting the belt on Chavo Guerrero and making Chris Benoit a strong champion, leading into his series of matches with MVP, which made MVP, and ultimately led to Benoit's death. Wait, maybe Chavo should've won.

The Boogeyman has a work rate of nearly zero but gets a good pop from the audience. Big Daddy V/Mabel/Viscera really has a good work rate for a man of his size, the best in the business. Hopefully V will splash the Boogeyman out of the ECW.

Personally, I hope the ECW dies off into the sunset after all these suspensions and merges with Smackdown full time.

Why do they call it moving to a "special new Time 11PM". 11 o'clock at night doesn't seem like an upgrade in time... It's kind of like saying I moved out of my apartment to a special new bus shelter.
