They had me at "How you say...a filthy prostitute".

Booker and Marella continue to carry this show.

HHH should have been there last night. So he won't return until SummerSlam at all now? I wonder if they will do the same with Rey, who is also touted to return at the PPV? I doubt HHH will want to share the spotlight.

I agree with you somewhat CRZ. I am not crazy about sports entertainment segments, but at least these are decent. Better than Diva searches. My concern is they will continue to milk it way beyond the pint that it gets old.

You and I don't usually agree on anything, heh. But I really didn't dig the segments. Ron Simmons says things that rhyme with damn. I mean, I guess if you know he always says damn you can kinda understand that, but is that even technically a joke? And when's the last time the dating game was on television? It just seemed like a typically out of touch reference. The WWE Idol thing seemed bad too. Is this really the best use of Foley? I mean, it's not all bad. Regal's one-liners are always good, but the rest of it is pretty lame. WWE.com "extras", or "Never on TV" DVDs are the place for these kinds of things, or an occasional RAW. But since the reaction has been good, they're going to now try and catch lightning in a bottle every week, and are bound to eventually fail badly.

But isnt that kinda what wrestling shows are all about? If the people react positively, give them more? I know it always has a chance of getting played out, but if the reviews and reactions have been favorable so far, why not keep going? I liked the Dating Game, and WWE Idol was funny too. Even my wrestling-hater wife liked WWE Idol last night.

As for the rest of the show, King Booka = GOLD, Santino = GOLD, Cryme Tyme's auction was good but the match was eh, the "Vince McMahon is somebody's babydaddy" angle is crap (So Steph was in Vince's babymama's lawyer's office, she knows who the "child" is, this "child" was at ringside right with them last night, and Vince couldnt just ASK her who it was??), thats all I can remember for now.

Oh, I didnt know there was gonna be a SNME taping after the show so I thought they updated the RAW set and liked it. I'm not a big fan of the current entrance area.

I actually agree with the Observer recap's take on this. The writers want to get bad comedy into the show in the worst way. There's no fighting it. But at least this way, they get all the comedy out of their system in a 15-minute segment, instead of sprinkling crap throughout the show. Outside of WWE Idol, I didn't see any alleged comedy attempted through the rest of the show. Well, unless Vince McMahon was involved, anyway.

As mentioned before, these segments are really starting to make Santino. I absolutely hated Santino Marella: Random Guy Picked From the Italian Crowd Who Happens to Win Matches, but am really digging Santino Marella: Jealous Boyfriend/Rude Italian Guy. And these segments give us more REGAL! How can anything involving more Regal (outside of him kissing Vince McMahon's ass) possibly be a bad thing?

Nothing really noteworthy about the rest of the show. This Umaga face turn is going to bomb. I can just feel it.

Speaking of face runs that will bomb, Cody Rhodes just looks incredibly plain. His moves are vanilla, he doesn't have a personality, his reason for being is that he's Dusty's kid...it reeks of Rocky Maivia and Early Randy Orton, only without the upside potential. I give it a year before the writers decide to parade him out in the Goldust outfit for a cheap laugh.

I'm blaming the string of these on the internet buzz. It seems the only time the WWE looks at the net is when it is getting praise for goofy nonwrestling stuff or people marking out over ECW's Zombie.

Like last week, thumbs up from me for most everything except McMahon and Snitsky. The Cryme Tyme auction segment was barely watchable at half the length of the last one, and if they can cut it in half again for the future, I think it wouldn't annoy me.

I wonder if Kennedy is a swerve as the Paternity child? Even though kayfabe is dead I would think they'd hate having a "McMahon" show up on a rival promotion one day. A remote chance, but nothing's forever in this business. How about HHH as the guy? At least he's actual family, and not likely going anywhere. This would also set up H in the Vince role down the road, and let Vince scratch that "incest" angle itch, albeit retroactively.

Why bring Sandman to Raw, then take away 50% of what got him over? While I've liked his efforts this run, I always thought he was a gimmick guy. At least J.R. could call the "White Russian leg sweep" and "Rolling Rock senton".

Could it be that Flair came in to give Vinny his props on some "kiss stealin', wheelin' dealin'" extra-marital activities?

Those contacts they gave Boogeyman make him twice as freaky-looking, in a good way. But maybe they should resist the urge to use him as comic relief for the time being?

Credit to the makeup people for turning Jillian into Britney Spears, and Regal got as much out of the material they gave him as anyone could. Personally, I'll take game show parodies over the indy jobber squashes that have been creeping onto Raw and SmackDown of late. More entertaining for me, at least. But I guess I'll say I must have missed the U-S-A chants Foley was talking about while Volkoff was going old school? Because I can't believe Mick of all people would stick with a scripted line if there was no actual chant.

The ring skills aren't top shelf, but it's sure been a pleasure watching Booker run with his royalty gimmick. It'll be a shame to lose him so soon, but I don't see how 'King Booker, Champion of Champions' survives the squash that's coming.. Face turn? Maybe they can pick up on the dissension angle with Sharmell that was teased when 'Taker sent Booker off to heal after Mania.

And it was nice to have the divided crowd for Cena back.

I don't think the writing has been that hilarious in Dating Game (save for "Rainbow Bright" and "Nam") or Idol, but Santino made both segments. That guy is the best guy.

Also Regal is lookin' good with his hair grown out!

HHH should have been there last night. So he won't return until SummerSlam at all now?

I think they've shown admirable restraint in holding someone off as incentive to buy the PPV and make it more important instead of giving everything away for an ephemeral TV rating or a surprise return pop. It's something they failed to do with Rock when he came back for SummerSlam '01, Hunter for Rumble '02, Hogan for Backlash '05, Batista for GAB '06, pretty much everyone over the last six years except when Austin came back for No Way Out '03.
