If you have a Microsoft Live User ID you are already "registered", and it will just take a second. (Or a bunch of seconds if you vote a bunch of times.) Voting starts August 8th, I think.
Don't mind waiting, personally. I'll be busy with Halo 3 and Smackdown vs. RAW 2008 when those come out.
What I don't get is why the next GTA is being called "Grand Theft Auto IV." Technically, isn't Vice City, the game that followed Grand Theft Auto III, number four? Then San Andreas. The next GTA should be Grand Theft Auto VI, or even VII if we're counting Vice City Stories. Unless there's some rationale I'm totally missing.

Rockstar thinks that Vice City and San Andreas were technically add-ons (or reskins) to GTA 3. The engine was the same for each. IV is being totally redone from scratch, hence the name.
Yeah but only the 360 version gets the special content downloads after the release, which supposedly will add new missions and such.
I thought both got new content, but Microsoft paid $50 million for the first two extra mission packs to be 360 exclusive.
I got my automated call from Gamestop the other day. I'm disappointed, but there's enough stuff coming out this fall that I'll buy.
The deal is Microsoft is going to pay them upfront for two downloaded content add-ons, both that will come out in 2008. Each should add around 10 hours of game play according to Take Two. No one knows for sure if the payments from Microsoft also include a deal that nothing can come out for the PS3, but Take Two has already stated they will not be releasing any content updates for the PS3 version in 2008.
So best bet would definitely be to get the 360 version.

All the games after GTA II have been prequels. I guess they only want to number the games that advance the time line in the GTA universe.
GTA (1997-1998, and 1969 and 1961 in expansion packs) GTA II (released in 1999, but set sometime after GTA) GTA III (2001)
GTA:VC (1986) GTA:SA (1992) GTA:Advance (approx. one year before GTA III) GTA:LCS (1998) GTA:VCS (1984)
