What a dull show. Besides Candice Michelle and Cena (kinda), all the heels retain or win. Hornswaggle winning the CW title was fun, but that doesn't lead us anywhere.
Man, that show was headed down the tubes until the main event. Hornswaggle as CW champ is a step above Oklahoma, but that's only because Hornswaggle's at least within the weight limit. But that still has bad idea written all over it. Of course, it's not like the title means anything, anyway.
A title that supposedly means something is the World Heavyweight Championship and it's still around the waist of Khali. Good lord, that match was atrocious. The Great Khali's reign of terrible continues and it doesn't look like it'll end anytime soon.
Nice to see Booker on the show. God only knows why he wasn't booked for a match, though.
Can anyone explain the ending of the ECW title match? Seriously, is there some kind of injury we don't know about, because that ending seemed somewhat abrupt.
Umaga's been squashing Jeff Hardy for months. Was the result of tonight's match ever in doubt?
The less said about Carlito/Sandman, the better. That ending made Sandman look like a total dope.
Candice is at least trying, I'll give her that much. But the women's division has gone nowhere fast since Trish retired.
The main event was great, though. I'd be pumped for a Summerslam rematch.

Reading the Torch recap it seemed like Punk may have suffered a knee injury following a Morrison kick. Let's hope otherwise.

That was probably the weirdest most shocking moment of the night. I loved the "NO WAY" reactions by rest of the wrestlers.

At this flipping moment, some one out of context quote me please, Candice should be the World Heavyweight Champion and Khali the womens. We'd get at least a watchable match with her trying as apposed to what I watched with Khali tonight.
At least they attempted to keep him out of the match as much as possible...well as much as they could.

Ugh. Glad I didn't pay to watch the show. Khali retains, Hornswoggle wins the Cruiserweight Title, GOD, SmackDown's title situation is a mess. (With all due respect to MVP and Deuce & Domino).

I've given up caring about the cruiserweight title. Shit, at least now it's on someone who'll get a crowd reaction.
The ME was blistering. Hopefully certain folks will finally stop harping on about what a bad wrestler Cena is.
To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow

That's a good point, Old School. Hornswaggle is over with the crowd; any heel that takes the title from him will, basically, get the rub of destroying the cute little guy that everyone likes. There have been worse Cruiserweight champions (Jacqueline, Daffney, Oklahoma) in the past, and I'm not totally ready to dismiss this as a bad thing to do just yet.
With Edge gone, and Khali still the champ, I am having a hard time thinking of a reason to still watch SD! That's sad, as they slowly won me over in the last 6-8 months.
Dean! Have you been shooting dope into your scrotum? You can tell me! I'm hip!

I really don't have a problem with Cena as a worker, but with his weak offense. Lashley should have killed him eight times over in that match. Yet, once again, Cena shrugs him off and once again overcomes the odds.
It's getting to the point where I can't even watch his matches anymore because they make me so mad. They are pretty good, but infuriating.
NWA WISCONSIN CONGRATULATES ALUMNUS “HORNSWAGGLE” FOR WINNING WWE CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE
NWA Wisconsin Pro Wrestling would like to issue its congratulations to one of its distinguished alumni, Hornswaggle, for winning the WWE Cruiserweight championship at World Wrestling Entertainment’s “The Great American Bash” on Sunday, July 22, in San Jose, California.
Hornswoggle won the Cruiserweight open by making a surprise appearance, tadpole-splashing “The Pit Bull” Jamie Noble, and then pinning him to win Chavo Guerrero’s WWE Cruiserweight belt, live on nationwide pay-per-view television.
Hornswoggle, formerly known as “Shortstack” in NWA Wisconsin and its affiliate, All-Star Championship Wrestling, becomes the second alumnus of NWA Wisconsin to capture WWE gold, following Mr. Kennedy, formerly “Kamikaze” Ken Anderson, who was WWE United States champion during part of 2006.
Hornswoggle is the fourth alumnus of NWA Wisconsin to join WWE, following Daivari, C.M. Punk, and Mr. Kennedy.
In his Shortstack persona, Hornswaggle was a fixture of All-Star Championship Wrestling (or ACW) and NWA Wisconsin events. He also captured ACW’s X-Division championship, which he held from April to July of 2005. Many of Shortstack’s matches are available on DVD from NWA Wisconsin Home Video, and are also available for free locally in Wisconsin on Time Warner Digital Cable On-Demand channel 1111.
We of NWA Wisconsin would like to offer our congratulations to Hornswoggle, and cheer him on to continued success within World Wrestling Entertainment, as he continues to show what athletes who compete within NWA Wisconsin can go on to achieve, regardless of size or stature.
NWA Wisconsin is the only statewide promotion for NWA Midwest and the National Wrestling Alliance within the state of Wisconsin. In addition to running its own monthly events around the state, NWA Wisconsin also features two of its own affiliates: All-Star Championship Wrestling, based out of Green Bay, and Insane Championship wrestling, based out of Milwaukee. NWA Wisconsin is owned and promoted by Jason Jerry.

You mean this isn't even his FIRST heavyweight title? I think I'm legit stunned.

I disagree with this assessment. With the addition of Jillian and Beth Phoenix, the Women's Division on RAW is suddenly healthier than it'd been in many months.
Candice is trying, noticably. She pretty much is the new Trish: a model who came in and decided she wanted to seriously learn how to wrestle. Candice is following Trish's blueprint very closely and I'd argue in terms of her ring work, at this point in her wrestling career and first (I assume) reign as Women's Champion, Candice is farther along than Trish was during her first run with the belt.
Of course, Trish had the class of 2002-2003 to work with and learn from: Molly, Lita, Jazz, Victoria, Ivory, and later Gail. That was the finest field of women's talent ever assembled in WWE's history. Moving Victoria to Smackdown is totally dunderheaded, but even without her, Candice has Mickie James, Melina, Jillian, and Beth Phoenix. Not quite the original roster in terms of talent depth, but still not a bad roster of women at all.
Now if Candice continues to improve and just as importantly, if she could somehow learn to talk and cut promos without sounding like a nasal-voiced simpleton, she'd then unlock the final missing ingredient that Trish had over all the other women in the company.
(Didn't see the Bash so nothing to add in terms of PPV discussion.)
I wish Big Show was still around, because I suddenly had the idea of him teaming with Hornswoggle, and it made me laugh for several minutes. I am easily amused.

I sincerely hope Finlay hides under the ring to help Hornswaggle retain the belt.

Well, the X-division title isn't a heavyweights-only belt, although some pretty big men in our company have competed for it. It's more of a style thing...blah blah blah, all that stuff that TNA said in '03 or so.
Here's a pic of Shortstack during his title reign:
Good work all around, but to little effect, as expected leading to SummerSlam.
Nice of them to put the Hardys on the card to provide two good matches, get two nice crowd reactions. And do two jobs. Not that I mind MVP or Umaga.
It was pretty clear that Hornswoggle was in the "Open" match when the bell rang while he scurried through the ring for no apparent reason, minus one to the bookers for making their announcers look stupid. I actually thought Chavo would end up dragging the little guy out from under the ring to get a cheap pin, but if Finlay becomes the enforcer for a decent run, I approve. On the grounds that WWE ignores the division regardless.
I'm pleased that Sandman is getting a decent program, I thought he was the surprise of all the ECW originals brought in. And a nice finish here that gets more heat on Carlito.
Punk is already looking weak by losing so many matches to a guy who wasn't seen as that much of a threat. I know it was a tough situation to work with, and this same result would have been perfectly fine if (he who must not be named) was in the Morrison spot - but I think this program is pulling both guys down.
Bullrope match could have used some color.
There was no reason to think they would put the title on Khali for two days only. The World title match would have worked so much better if they did the SmackDown battle royal to see who would meet Kane, and then did a Batista/Khali tie to set up the triple threat. Dave seems like he's about 0-12 in title matches since Wrestlemania.
Cena/Lashley was a good match that was in the wrong place. This felt totally hotshotted, and diminishes Lashley somewhat since he apparently goes away as challenger. Why not do the Orton match here, and build to Lashley for SummerSlam??
And the less said about that "I want to make sweet, sweet love to you, Bobby" cover by Cena, the better.
Originally posted by TheOldManDave seems like he's about 0-12 in title matches since Wrestlemania.
I believe he is 0-8, including the title change. That could change at the SummerSlam, but if Batista wins, then who else does he have to defend against? Then again, who else does Khali have to defend against besides ... Mysterio? Yikes.

I'm with you about Cena/Lashley needing a longer build-up, but I am pretty sure the Orton match is for SummerSlam because it's the title change.
well mr gee money, first off this is the WWE, nothing makes sense (See: KANE). In this world 80 year old women can give birth to hands. Now it could be an angle where maybe Shelton and Randy have a feud over the IC title and Shelton wins it.
