Wow! If I'm starting the thread this late in the day, is ANYONE watching this?
I like the new opening montage/music...Drowning Pool was getting old.
I'm torn about the opening segment, while I thought that Striker was absolute gold ("You're really freaking me out!"), he also introduced us to Big Daddy V...ugh...while I like the idea of the gimmick better for Vis, I never, ever, want to see him without a shirt again. For a minute I thought it was Abdullah the Butcher. Yuck.
Nice to see Stevie in a decent match with Punk, and I like that they seem to be building Nitro into a legitimate ECW champ.
I'm disappointed Miz is apparently going to get pushed as a face. He was coming along nicely as a heel on Smackdown, so why not continue that path? He just doesn't seem very cheer-able as a face.
What was that submission that Stevie put on Punk? It looked pretty sweet. Stevie should bequeath it to someone who can get more mileage out of it.
I dig the Big Daddy V gimmick. Big ol' Nelson has come on leaps and bounds over the past half-decade, and is a pretty good bruiser-style heel. There's something deliciously old-school about the pairing of he & Striker - I could easily picture these two being part of the old ECW.
To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow
Originally posted by DahakI thought ECW was pretty good. I am also glad that Vis has a new gimmick BUT come on did Taz and Styles have to pretend they didn't know him?
Maybe they never looked at his face. Or tried to not look at him at all. *shiver*
Stevie-Punk was a good match. The third one iirc. Noticed that Richards got a LOT of offense, which was sweet.
Was the Miz portrayed as a face? He still comes across as a heel/jerk to me. And keep in mind that the only one that made him come across as a heel was JBL who hated him.
