I only saw the first hour, so no half ass recap from me.
No mention of Benoit to start the show. It's probably for the best as I have no idea what they would say at this point anyways.
Ric Flair leads off the show against Raw's Carlito as we learn Vickie Guerrero is in charge tonight. This match was pretty standard fair between the two. Flair looked a little better than usual out there tonight though. End of the match was very good as Flair slaps on the Figure Four until Carlito almost makes the ropes. Flair drags him back to the middle, attacks the leg and reapplies the Figure Four for the TAP OUT!
Matt Hardy vs Lance Cade really surprised me. Cade was money to start the match as he celebrated his successful dropkick. Hardy was good as always in this match, but Cade is either a better worker than I thought or he is a he just matches up with Hardy really well. Hardy hits a nice looking Twist of Fate out of nowhere for the pin fall.
Michelle McCool loves life on the beach. Okay then.
Chavo Guerrero vs. Funaki vs. Jaime Noble is next. It's hard not to feel bad for poor Chavo and think about the old days at the same time. Match was standard cruiserweight affair. Longtime WWE jobber Funaki takes a Gory Special for the pin fall. Chavo holds his belt and kind of points to the sky after the match, the cameras don't cut away.
Deuce and Domino vs Cryme Time was garbage. One of the Greasers bleed from the nose and he got a roll up for a pin after some shenanigans.
Edge addresses Vickie Guerrero who does her impersonation of a blind lady. She's looking in Edge's general direction, but not really at him. Even Edge can't save this. He's to face Batista in a non title match.
Kane and MVP are next, and I lose interest and find something else to do.
If it weren't for the whole Benoit thing this would have been quite the week for actual wrestling matches.

It's BECAUSE of the Benoit thing this was a good week for actual wrestling matches. Watching a wrestling show and not seeing endless recaps of a limo exploding or jabbering about the owner of the company was an awfully good time. WWE should try to do shows like this more often when there isn't a horrible tragedy.
Batista vs. Edge was really good. It might have been the best match of their series. Edge was great as usual, bumping around and looking like he's barely surviving what Batista does to him while always pacing his offense to look effective but not overshadowing what's being done to him. Batista did some atypical stuff that shows that he is a lot better than he sometimes lets on. He worked Edge's leg like an Anderson in the beginning. He knows a little more about submission wrestling than expected. I love matches when the wrestlers go beyond their usual movesets and try different stuff. The finish where Batista countered Edge's spear with a leapfrog so he landed on Edge's head in perfect position for the Batista Bomb was terrific.
Flair vs. Carlito, Hardy vs. Cade, MVP vs. Kane, and Mickie vs. Victoria were all real good. Good show overall.
If WWE needs a few weeks to come up with a new big time storyline and has to stall with more shows like this, I really wouldn't complain.
You tuned out before a fantastic women's match. Victoria and Mickie James turned out a match that was every bit as good as the ones from a few years ago when Trish and Molly and the others were still around.
Yeah, the last two matches on the show were the best. Eugene/Khali was awful though. I don't understand throwing a one minute squash of a mentally challenged character on the show this week.
I will go on record and say it: MVP has won me over. He has a GREAT entrance, a good look, and he is solid on the mic and in the ring. He is as good a choice as anyone right now for them to get behind and push to the moon. I hope he can continue the restoration of the US title. I will still admit Benoit's 8 month reign was impressive, and when MVP won it, at least to me, it seemed like a big deal.
Dean! Have you been shooting dope into your scrotum? You can tell me! I'm hip!
Ok, OVW fans, I need a little help on this one. Just who exactly are Jesse and Festus and are they any good, because their vignette last night was certainly...unique.
The Wisdom of Homsar: DaAaAa, these Easter pants are gettin' way too tight!
Considering the other whitewashing that's been going on i was surprised to see that Benoit was still in the Don't Try This At Home message to tell us he ruptured a disc which fragmented into his spinal column.

That disclaimer doesn't air as part of the original CW broadcast, so people probably just aren't aware. I'm sure emails will get written and they'll figure it out soon enough.

On recent WWE DVD releases, they've used a new Don't Try This At Home video. I assume it will get used on your Smackdown broadcast as well once people figure out that the old one is airing.
The Rock is the greatest person ever. Haters need to step off. I couldn't decide if making fun of Jericho's hair was my favorite part, or "I made Doom" was my favorite part, but then I realized my favorite part was the whole entire thing.
