Well, I figured I'd give this one its own thread. DC hyped Flash: Fastest Man Alive #13 for weeks, with the eye-opening teaser of a dead Flash. So I figured I'd pick this issue up and see if DC delivered.
Sure enough, the issue was a solid read. And yes, in fact, Bart Allen does bite the big one. You might want to pick up some back issues before grabbing this one, because I was lost on Inertia's master plan. But the end was easy enough to pick up. The Rogues all gang up on Bart Allen and kill him. The issue ends with a Bart Allen memorial statue. The page in which Robin learns of Bart's fate is particularly powerful.
So that's the end of the Flash, right?
Well, not quite.
Speaking of plots that are hard to follow, I've been lost throughout the JLA/JSA crossover. But I figured that with a cast so big, SOMETHING was bound to happen. I wasn't disappointed.
Oh yeah...Wally West is BACK!

I thought Flash#13 was good for what it was, but it's unfortunate that the Powers That Be at DC decided the character of Bart Allen needed to be sacrificed (seemingly). I think there is a bit of wiggle room with Inertia involved, but who knows?
And for fans of "Smallville" that feel wronged . . . buck up like the rest of various iterations of fandom that have to deal with changes to things they've known and liked due to translations to other media or other writers taking over, etc. Your "Smallville" is some long-time fan taking it up the rear without lube as well. Gotta learn to make room for all different possibilities.
As for JLA #10 . . . Loved it. Great finish to the story, great art, glad to see Wally back and interested to see where they go with the Legion (the "true" version?) and if it was Barry Allen that they plucked from the lightning with Wally, Linda and the kids' return as an unexpected bonus.
It is a good rule in life never to apologize. The right sort of people do not want apologies, and the wrong sort take a mean advantage of them. P. G. Wodehouse (1881 - 1975), The Man Upstairs (1914)
Bart Allen's death was done very, very well. Great issue.
Wally West's return? I'm glad he's back, but man, not having read the previous installments of this crossover I was completely lost throughout the entire issue. I guess I got the general gist of it, but Jesus, was that ever confusing. I did enjoy Batman and Hal Jordan's "Crisis" flashbacks, though.

Don't feel bad. I followed the crossover from the first issue and I'm STILL not sure what the hell was going on. All I know is that I liked the end result.
Too bad, because Meltzer and Johns working together should have been a surefire home run.

While I am glad to have Wally back, I don't think they needed kill Bart. Retcon him back as a teenager, yes. I doubt it is Barry in the lightning rod, most likely it's Bart. I really don't see them bringing Barry back. If so, why bring back Wally?
Dean! Have you been shooting dope into your scrotum? You can tell me! I'm hip!

The cross-over definitely seemed booked with a big swerve in the final. Obviously, we were supposed to think it was garth they were bringing back. and then barry. I guess you weren't supposed to think about wally until Val shows up in Blue Valley.
You'd think Xavier would be used to it by now, since this is like the umpteenth time there's been a catastrophe and/or massacre at the school that's killed a bunch of his students.
