And for those who do, how would you rate your level of interest in an autobiography?

Wasn't he in the Survivor Series on year? That is the extent of my knowledge and therefore, no interest in a book.

Fantastic evil manager, fittingly with the bald look long before it became chic.

Abso-tively no interest in a book.

Great 80s heel manager. After watching the Heroes of World Class documentary , I think it would be an interesting read. If anyone hasn't seen it, I highly recommend it. He was actually booking back then, too.

Great manager in Florida and World Class, decent in Mid-Atlantic/WCW. Should have been elected President in '88. Can't recall him working for Vince in the past 20+ years so he was never involved in Survivor Series. I'd possibly have some interest in an autobiography.

I remember him, and honestly my interest would all depend on how good the stories are. He was around all the big names, and if he's willing to give some good inside info I'd probably read it.

Some of the stories are pretty funny. When they started on KTVK wrestling was still in "kayfabe" mode -- but he had to deal with the producer of the show to make sure things were presented correctly. He had to ask his assistant to leave the room every time he'd discuss details with the producer, so it would't get back to Fritz Von Erich that he was breaking kayfabe.

Some are kind of shocking and might not pass a libel muster, such as claims that a group of stars were caught snorting cocaine in an upstairs room at the Sportatorium.

I've read a couple sample chapters, and it was definitely interesting to me as a longtime wrestling fan, but I'm just not sure how important he is in today's day and age and how much recognition he'd have from today's fan.

I know of him, for sure. I don't know how much of his stuff I've seen. If the book was well-reviewed, I might be interested, but I've already got the newest Foley book half-read, along with Edge's book, Blassie's book, Bischoff's book, Alvarez and Reynolds' Death of WCW, and a couple others that I haven't got around to reading yet, so I wouldn't be buying anything else anytime soon.

I doubt you would have to be concerned about libel considering the stories that have floated through the years about Gino Hernandez, Kerry Von Erich and others that worked for World Class while Hart was around in the early/mid 80's. That, and most of the guys Hart would accuse are probably dead, so they can't defend themselves anyway.

Slight difference between rumors floating around and writing in a book "I saw X snort cocaine." And not all are dead ... not all are out of the business, either.

Absolutely. Gary Hart had a tremendous career in Pro Wrestling, from managing to booking to even in the ring as a wrestler. I think people would be surprised to see what a contribution he made to the industry.

If that book gets rolling, let me know so I can get him on my radio show!

Hearing and seeing Gary Hart on the "Heroes of World Class" DVD, I'd absolutely be interested. He's got a ton of stories, is very knowledgable of all aspects of the business, and was involved during a pretty historic period (World Class in the 80s). He's also done work in other promotions, as has been pointed out.

If anybody has any doubts, as kentish said, search out and watch "Heroes of World Class" NOW.

All things considered, I'd go so far as to say this has the potential to be one of the better wrestling auto-biographies. I'd pick it up in a heartbeat.

As for libel: read Pure Dynamite. If Tom Billington was able to publish what he published, Gary Hart certainly wouldn't have any trouble. Regardless of whether or not the people he'd talk about are dead (though a shocking number of them are), all other accounts indicate that a story about a group of guys in World Class snorting cocaine is more than plausible. Wouldn't be a problem.

I watched Terry Funk vs Ric Flair last night, the 'I Quit' match from 1989, and Gary Hart did a good job as manager for the Funker. Great stuff.

I'd been thinking of that idea too. They could've followed up the initial Molly choking out Gail segment with an angle similar to the Mattiude abusing Shannon Moore thing. It would atleast give us a reason to care about them being together.
