It kind of goes without saying, but this looks better and better with each trailer. Still haven't heard any of the robots talking yet, so it may be a suprise to some to hear some familiar voices behind the 'bots.

Can't wait for this to hit the theaters!
It may have been a bootleg but I saw a version of the first two minute trailer that at the end had Optimus Prime's voice saying something like "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings."
"I could be wrong, but I doubt it"---Charles Barkley
(supposed to have more footage, can't see it myself though)
Nice to see that the "ee ooh ah ah" sound effect made it in there ...
Y'know, I had no plans to see this movie (never watched a "Transformers" cartoon in my life, I was a "Go-Bots" man growing up) but the more sneak peeks I get, the more intrigued I become ... if anything, I would probably enjoy the movie more having no "emotional attachment" to the original subject matter, since I won't get all offended when the script doesn't RELIGIOUSLY ADHERE to official canon and crush my childhood memories (which I have seen more than one sad individual complain about on the interwebz).

The extra stuff seems to be at the very end, where the kid talks to Optimus Prime from his bedroom window.
As for canon..*shrug* I can easily live with a change of story and everything. No problem. Just..I am still not sold on the designs. Things look good, but I don't understand why it seems like every Decepticon has to have some sort of monster face?
I'm a little unsure of the designs too, but then today I kinda felt better after going to the toy store. With my son, yes yes. I honestly can't bring myself to buy any toys for me, but every time I take him I take a peek. So anyway they were just putting out the toys from this movie and damned if they don't all look pretty awesome. I mean really, really cool and very much like the clips from the movie.
Also had some neat smaller ones that were items like a camcorder, cell phone and PSP. So yeah, I'm excited now.
I'm boycotting this film because I saw an interview with the asshole Machael Bay and he said that he absolutely despised the idea of a VW Bug being one of the robots, however, Bumblebee was the character that most Transformer fans were asking for to be in the film, so he decided to make him into a different car.
Machael Bay needs to fucking die by getting run over by a VW Bug
I haven't seen any interviews with Bay (he is an idiot and I try to avoid listening to anything he says), but I know for a fact that Volkswagon will not allow their product name to be associated with Bumblebee or the Transformers in any way anymore. That's why none of the newer Bumblebee toys are Bugs either. They say they object to having their company tied to a violent product. So while Bay is still an idiot for deciding that Bumblebee should be a Camaro of all things, I don't think it was really his call whether it was going to be a VW or not.
According to a review of the film, the VW beetle does appear in the movie in reference to Bumblebee. So honestly I don't buy the excuses made for Bumblebee not being a beetle anymore.
Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.
Ditto...after watching this one if I wasn't sold before on blowing cash to see this I am now. Less than a month now and I'm ready to watch it tomorrow if it came out. I'm ready...so ready!

Believe it or not, that's the reason. Takara wanted to make versions of both Bumblebee and Jazz for their awesome Alternators line of toys that transform into 1:24 scale licensed replicas of actual cars. Both Porsche and Volkswagen declined to allow their cars to be used, as they did not want to endorse or be affiliated with "war toys". (Jazz would be made as a Mazda RX-8, as "Meister", his name in Japan.)
I never saw the cartoon, but usually this is the kind of movie I would normally go see.... things exploding and all... but this movie will suck for one reason and one reason only, Michael Bay. The absolute worst director working in Hollywood today.

It's a good excuse but that's all it is. Chances are that Bay hated the idea of Bumblebee being a beetle as well. If they really wanted it, all that VW probably needed was a call from the Beard and a couple of checks. With this kind of production they could've easily afforded it.
I feel Peter Cullen getting cast as Optimus was just an early way to get legitimacy from the fans. True colors were shown when they gave the job of Megatron to Hugo Weaving instead of an eager Frank Welker. At Anime Matsuri in Houston, even Cullen said he'd rather it be Welker.
EDIT:
From Tom DeSanto's OWN mouth in the latest issue of Wizard magazine when directly asked about making Bumblebee a camaro:
"Michael didn't like the Bug. It was as simple as that."
So let all the excuses and conjecture about VW not liking it be put to rest.
The forty year old Virgin mary! If you go see this movie (the AWA family just came back) look for all the Movie references. I counted 5 or 6. I liked it a lot.
