Reports here in Chicago are that Barrett and Zambrano got it on again in the clubhouse and that Barrett needed to be taken to the ER for stitches in his mouth.
Of all the guys on the Cubs roster to fight with, Zambrano would not be high on my list. He's a big'un.
And after about 5 minutes of prodding from the local media contingent, Lou finally went off on this sorry excuse of a $110 million ballclub. Hopefully this will give him the excuse to just go ahead and make the moves he wants, without massaging things slowly to avoid hurting egos.
As a catcher, Barrett's a decent hitter. Although not so much this year. As a game caller, Barrett's a Jacque Jones 17-hop throw to the cutoff man. I'd have lived with Blanco's bat for 120 games if he could hold up.

I don't know why Barrett would try and pick a fight with Zambrano, if that was the case. I mean, he's no A.J. Pierzynski.
Usually in any case, I'd say the Cubs should cut their ties to Barrett and trade him off, but Zambrano hasn't exactly been lighting the world on fire this year while still making contract demands. As long as Prior and Wood are in their last days as Cubs, maybe they should just send off Zambrano and start the whole damn thing over again from scratch.

From everything I read since then, it sounds like Barrett was not the aggressor in this fiasco. Zambrano is cutting into his free agent haul with this show of immaturity and non-leadership.
