Tonight: WWE.com says Edge makes his farewell RAW appearance. Also, Lashley takes on Coach in a sanctioned match. Well, thank GOD its sanctioned.

-WWE opening.

-Cold open shows the crowd, then Cena’s music hits. He looks to be all business tonight. JR welcomes us to Hampton, Va, as Cena is title-less. Cena is subdued on the mic, almost still in shock over what happened last week. Cena says its like Khali isn’t even human. People close to him are saying that Judgment Day is going to be his execution, but he disagrees, and wants his belt back. Khali is backstage on the Titan-Tron with his translator. Somehow, they throw it to a video package. Khali says he’s going to be the champ at Judgment Day then says “come get some” to Cena. Cena heads to the back to meet the giant. He gets to Khali but the big man no-sells and throws Cena into things. He finishes by choking out the champ.

[break]

(1) Jeff Hardy vs. Trevor Murdoch
Clean break from Murdoch followed by a trade of arm-drags, then a stale-mate. Murdoch uses the elbow a few times offensively. Jeff knocks Murdoch off the apron then planchas onto him on the outside. Jeff’s mule kick barely hits Trevor, who gets out of the way of another kick. Jawbreaker gets Hardy out of a rear-chinlock, then almost over-shoots the Whisper in the Wind. Murdoch crotches Hardy, but Jeff pushes him off. Trevor gets the knees up on the Swanton, but only gets a two-count. Jeff, with an inside cradle out of nowhere, gets three.

Winner: Hardy, about 4:00
The heels confront the Hardys after the match, but only shake their hands.

-Coming up, the Rated R shocker from Smackdown and Edge’s farewell address. Also, Lashley faces Coach.

[break]

-Another Snitsky video package is shown.

-Last Monday, Lashley beat up Coach, and we see highlights from that.

-Shane tries to give Coach a pep-talk backstage, while Vince (looking like Jesse the Body sans the sunglasses) and Umaga look on. All three will be at ringside for the match.

[break]

(2) Santino Marella vs. Chris Masters, IC Title Match: Masters uses the forearms and tries to go for the Masterlock early. Masters with a double-axe handle to the lower back, then a couple back-breakers. Knee to the back of Marella. Big clothesline and he sets up for another Masterlock, but Marella counters again. He gets some offense, but runs into a spine-buster. Masters thinks the third time is the charm, but can’t get it on again, Marella counters with a sunset flip for the win.

Winner: Marella at about 3:00
Masters, the sore loser, applies the Masterlock post-match.

-Tonight, Lashley vs. Coach. Plus, Edge’s RAW farewell address.

[break]

-Some WWE wrestlers give their opinions on who should be 10 people stuck on an island, a la The Condemned.

(3) Candice Michelle vs. Victoria
Melina is the guest commentator, and she does her split on the announce table. Candice pulls the hair and tries a magistra cradle, but only gets a near-fall. Victoria goes on offense, slamming Candice into the mat. Candice is almost popping out of her top as Victoria puts her in a modified bow and arrow. Elbow to the throat of Victoria, then a headscissor take-down. Spinning heel kick by Candice gets the win after she got out a fireman’s carry in a bit of a contrived spot.

Winner: Candice Michelle, at about 3:00

-Next, Edge and his RAW farewell address!

[break]

-The new World Champ makes his entrance. He’s sure soaking it in. We see footage of Edge beating Kennedy. He said he already cashed in the Money in the Bank on Cena once, so this time he went after Undertaker. Then we see him beat the dead man. As Edge finishes his monologue, HBK’s music hits and he comes onto the ramp. He’s wearing a baseball cap- I wonder if people will take it as an affront to God like they did when the Warrior did it. Anyway, HBK suggests Edge just leave, so the champ challenges Michaels to a match, and he apparently accepts.

-Todd Grisham is backstage with Lashley. He gets in about four words before Shane McMahon interrupts. He does the “I’m not touching you” bit on Lashley, as the former ECW champ can’t touch Shane unless physically provoked. Thrilling.

[break]

(4) Coach vs. Lashley : Coach slaps Lashley to start, then Lashley man-handles the announcer in front of the three ringside spectators. Clothesline by Lashley, and there’s no crowd heat. Forearms by the former champ, then a back-breaker. Spear by Lashley mercifully ends it.
Winner: Lashley at about 2:00
Before he can even get up from the pin, Shane and Umaga attack Lashley. He fights Shane off, but not the Samoan Bulldozer. That is, until Umaga misses the butt-splash and gets hit with the spear. Lashley runs after Vince, but Shane surprises him with a clothesline. Lashley chases Shane to the back. He gets a hold of Shane’s jacket, but McMahon escapes into a waiting limo. Vince then shows up and blindsides Lashley with the belt. “The Dr. of Hardcore” is what JR calls Vince, what with his recent reception of a Doctorate of Fine Arts.

-Edge’s final RAW match (until the next one) is the main event, against Shawn Michaels.

[break]

(5) Carlito vs. Val Venis
We get Carlito’s rant from last week on the Titan-Tron. Some chain wrestling to start and Val gets some knees to the gut and a Russian leg sweep. Carlito goes to work with the left hands, then tosses Val to the outside and works the back. Inside, he gets a cover for only one. “We Want Flair” chants ring out from the crowd as Venis starts his comeback. Carlito stops that with a dropkick to the back. A roll-up by Venis gets two, then Carlito hits a jawbreaker. Val gets some elbows and a neck-breaker. Half-nelson slam by Venis, who goes to the top. Carlito moves, so Venis comes after him and gets pulled into the buckle, landing head-first on the second turnbuckle. Back-cracker by Carlito finishes things.

Winner: Carlito at about 4:00
Flair rushes the ring, but Carlito bails. Maybe he could’ve surprised Carlito if they didn’t play his music when he came out.

-HBK is backstage and Orton comes up to him and wishes him good luck, even though Orton says he can beat him. HBK challenges Orton to a match this Sunday, which Orton accepts.

[break]

-A sneak peek of the Timbaland video featuring WWE divas is coming next week.

-Update on John Cena: He’s fine says JR, and more determined than ever to beat Khali. We then see what happened in the first segment.

-The Judgment Day lineup is run down by the announcers.

-HBK is walking backstage, heading to the ring, as the match with Edge is next!

[break]

(6) Edge vs. Shawn Michaels
Clips of last week’s HBK/Khali match are shown. The match starts and Michaels gets a shoulder-block followed by a side-headlock takeover. HBK with a clean break on a tie-up in the corner, spot repeated with Edge not breaking cleanly. Swinging neckbreaker by Michaels, but Edge kicks HBK as the Showstopper put his head down. Closed fists by Edge, but HBK steps aside and Edge goes over the top to the floor. Michaels follows with a Thesz press from the apron onto Edge. Break time!

[break]

When we come back, Michaels is down in the ring, with Edge lurking over him. Edge brings him up by the hair then headbutts him down. Ref Mike Chioda is asking Shawn if he wants to continue. HBK tries to fight back, but a right hand puts him back down. Edge has Michaels in a neck vice, but as he tries to get out, Edge gives him a running boot for two. The announcers are putting over that Edge is going for the head of Michaels, knowing that the suffered a concussion last week. Neck-breaker by the champ for two. Every time HBK makes a comeback, Edge stops him with punches to the head. Edge is crotches on the top and HBK goes to take advantage but he’s headbutted off by Edge. Crossbody misses though. The two go at it in mid-ring until Michaels hits a flying forearm off the ropes. He goes into his finishing sequence (atomic drop, bodyslam, elbow off the top), then hits a superkick (not his best) for the win.

Winner: Shawn Michaels at about 16:00
Orton comes in and attacks HBK after the match, including a field-goal kick to the head. Michaels is not moving as we fade to black.

Great show all-around. All the matches, yes, even the WOMEN'S MATCH, were really good. I especially like the chase with Lashley/Shane. Shane-O-Mac did a good job crawling into the limo as it sped off. Didn't see the Vince with the belt to the face thing coming I must admit.

Some notes:

1) Edge's comment about not having a great match to end his Raw career was AWESOME! "...plus, the Great Khali has already left the building..." Genius!

2) Why can't Val Venis get a descent push? He's a great worker and still gets a good pop from the crowd even though his character hasn't been developed in five years. Creative can't come up with anything for him outside of jobbing?

Where ever did they find an Indian Eric Bischoff look alike to be The Great Khali's translator? I loved when he was giving Khali the pep talk and then screamed at the top of his lungs, "AAAUGH! JOHN CENA!" For that matter, they've hit something expected with me here: I am incredibly entertained by John Cena getting beat up. Even if it's Khali doing it, I love it. Cena took a couple of nasty bumps and the chokeout was convincing. John Cena could get his ass handed to him every week like this as far as I'm concerned.

After Jeff Hardy beat Trevor Murdoch, I mumbled to myself "Don't turn, don't turn!" I'm glad they didn't. I love Sportsmanship. This is a fun angle. Cade and Murdoch need to keep this going and lure the Hardys and the audience into a false sense of security before they finally turn. In the meantime the Sportsmanlike behavior from Cade and Murdoch needs to continue just they way it's going. The big twist ought to be if Cade and/or Murdoch pull off an upset on the Hardys and whether the Hardys will seek a handshake afterwards.

Candice's improvement is really quite evident but let's hear it for Victoria, who deserves a lot of credit too. It takes two to tango out there and Victoria bumped like hell to make Candice look good.

Shawn Michaels is incredible. He doesn't actually have a concussion as far as I've heard but he wrestled like he did and sold it all the way through. Beating the new World Champion clean is Time Honored Tradition stuff: the outgoing guy is supposed to lay down before he leaves a territory (brand in this case) as payment to the guys staying behind. Obviously there was no time to do this with Edge before he won the World Title, but losing to HBK doesn't diminish his Edge's bragging rights on Smackdown as long has he has that big gold belt.

Didn't care for much else on the show, especially not anything having to do with McMahons, Lashley or Umaga.

Nothing like John Cena out to start this edition of "Raw is Verklempt" - didn't Vince just say that the company needed to get away from the opening talk show segment?

Other than Cade/Murdoch - Hardys, there's nothing really intriguing me on the Raw side at present, and if you think they rushed the build for Judgment Day, isn't One Night Stand scheduled for June 3rd? Two weeks to set up an entire card should really be fun to watch..

Certainly the boys have stepped up to give us some pretty good matches, but like tonight's Edge/HBK, and Sunday's Orton/HBK, there's no foundation for why a guy with a concussion is fighting - shouldn't he at least have *tried to goad Edge into a title match? Santino seems dead in the water already, didn't help that he somehow turned out to be a midget.

So looking forward, we've got:
* Cena/Khali - Didn't we just see this match with Cena/Umaga? The new mouthpiece has me afraid that mushmouth is going over. Guess we can't rush Cena/Snitsky?
* Vince & Co./Lashley - I presume this will set up Lashley finally breaking through at ONS, and hopefully will get Vince out of the storylines to go grow his hair back (How long has it been since he's been active (going back to the dX feud), anyway?)
* Edge/Batista - I guess someone will explain (kayfabe) on Smackdown why it's not Taker getting a shot at revenge here? And I was trying to give them a chance, but if Edge and Henry weren't working together - that's some real silly storytelling that Edge would be lurking in case of a grueling cage match *and a random Pearl Harbor job both happening. (Not to mention silly overkill protecting Taker)
* HBK/Orton - Contrived match, likely HBK overselling the concussion angle which will detract from match quality.
* Punk/Burke - Another match that can only be setting up a rematch at ONS, so I wouldn't look for much here
* Flair/Carlito - Let's see what Ric has left in the tank - at least he's a good bet to entertain
* Benoit/MVP 2 of 3 falls - Seems to be the obvious "show stealer", and the only match on the card that's resolving a storyline.

(Edit: forgot Flair/Carlito match was added tonight)

Yeah, right! And Shawn Michaels is just THE guy you really need to put over that way, because he truly needs a push! Orton would have made sense (even storylinewise), but Michaels? Who´s booking here? Hunter?

Ladies and Gentleman, the WWE Women's Division: Classier than ever.

Between Melina's flashing her crotch at Lawler and Candice's pink shoelace ring attire, they've got me convinced.

Meltz reported that Vince changed his mind on that after Keivn Dunn pointe dout that a classier direction would essentially render the Diva Search meaningless. Interesting to see which concept he gave the boot to.

Good Raw, but perplexingly booked. I will say that I'm enjoying the slow-builds that are being necessitated by the multibrand PPVs. The Rednex/Hardys and Melina/Candice feuds are actually being given room to breathe before the PV blow-offs.

To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow

No, you´re not! I never thought I´d say that, because he´s always been one of my favorite wrestlers, but nowadays just seeing him on TV makes me sleepy! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Shawn Michaels needs a new look!! REALLY!!

And a new gimmick! Stop that Heartbreak KID thing - He is how old now??

NEW MUSIC - Please!

I don´t have a clue what to do with him, but to me something has to be done, because he (and his act) finally became boring, boring, boring ... And yes, I know, that he had some good matches since his return in 2002, but sometimes good isn´t good enough! Lance Storm had good matches all the time too, you know?

Actually, no I don't know.
Lance Storm never had the matches that Shawn had. Their style is totally different (STorm-solid technician vs Shawn - crazy bumper)
Lance Never had the fan support that Shawn has.
And never sold out shows like Shawn has.

True, it might be a case of 'giving him a shot' but I don't think you can compare them.
Having said that, yes..Shawn's character is kinda lame, but he is larger than a character. He is Shawn, a legend that can still delivers the best match of the night.
I think they would rather not have him revamp himself on this final run (that has lasted quite a few years now)..

I thought Raw was good this week. Cena is really trying to make Khali seem like a monster but there is zero chance that Khali will win the title.
I really like the Curdoch/Hardy's storyline.
Santino is coming across as really dull. Maybe that's because he is against Masters. Couldn't they have put someone with some charisma out there for his first feud? Kenny would seem to be a good choice since Nitro and Shelton are in the doghouse.
The women's match was OK. I still don't like Candice Michelle but she is trying to get better.
The Coach vs. Lashley match was pretty funny. Shane makes basicly any segment better.
Carlito vs. Val. Well, it was OK. I agree with the person who asked why doesn't Val get a small push. Or doesn't he have a real job in the back? He is involved in the "pull wrestlers apart or the who crippled this guy" gimmicks.
Edge vs. HBK was very good. They did as much as they could to set up the PPV match with Orton.
Basicly a good Raw. Angles were advanced. Better than average wrestling.
On a side note could they switch Lawler to the Skittles commercial? JR's "fruity, fruity, fruity, fruity, skittles, fruity, fruity, fruity" not only sucks but he sounds like he has never even tried the candy.

As long as he keeps having the best matches on every Raw and almost every pay per view show, I'll likely never tire of HBK.

Another good Raw last night, made better by Shawn being on it. Well, him and the Rednecks, who have been terrific, especially since I'm not usually a fan of their in-ring work.

His late match revival was punctuated by goofy movements, like he was having a seizure as he milked the crowd noise. It went over the line for me. I was surprised by his presence on RAW; I thought they would sell the Khali violence a bit more.

Shawn has had more than a few "good matches" since 2002, the Angle match and 3 way at WM 20 are too of his (or anyone's) best matches ever. He is their most consistent in ring performer since '02.

That being said, I don't see why he, or anyone else, should go over Edge. That just solidifies him as champ of the B show, something I was hoping he could avoid. Not now. I understand doing the honors if you were leaving for TNA, or even WCW a decade ago, but Edge STILL WORKS FOR WWE. Now he looks 2nd rate before he even officially debuts on SD!.

HBK does need new music, or at least an updated version. He did slightly change his ring attire a few years ago, which helped a little.

Shawn has now gone over both brand's champions in the last month. Either give him one of the belts, or don't. But you just make the champs look weak, and make Shawn look like the strong contender that can only win when the belt is not on the line. AKA, a choker. They had a smiliar problem with him in 2004.
