Jr. has said repeatedly that he wants to drive the 3, but only for a year or 2 near the end of his career. If Childress wanted to put him in the 3 now, he'd have to put together one hell of an offer, backing up the proverbial dump truck of money and mechanical wizardry, or at least, that's what the conventional wisdom says.
The popular speculation at this point has him either going to Gibbs to hook up with his friend Tony Stewart, or to Hendricks with Gordon and Jimmy Johnson. The problem is that Hendricks has Gordon, Johnson, Casey Mears and Kyle Busch under contract already for next year, and NASCAR rules state that you can only run 4 teams.
As I type this, there is apparently a story coming out of Fox in Boston (myfoxboston.com) that is saying that it's already a done deal for Jr. to go to Childress and run the 3, which seems to me like it's come together awfully quick. I would think that it's gotta be Gibbs or Childress at this point. He wants to be a serious contender for the title in 08, and he wouldn't have left DEI if he wasn't convinced that it wasn't possible there.
For reasons of creative incompetence, this space will be left blank. Advertising opportunities are avaliable though!!! Contact (Number removed due to pending litigation) for details!
I just can't believe it's anything but the three. Jr. would have preferred to stay at DEI, I think, if Teresa would have given him control. But short of that, he drives for RCR until he's older, maybe he and Richard click like Richard and his Daddy. Burton, Harvick and Jr's a heck of a team and Cliff's no slouch. We know Richard's group can build and engine.
And we all know that the fans will only accept one person in the three.
Allegedly he's been negotiating with Childress all night and they might already be close to an announcement that he will drive the Childress number 33.
Personally, I kind of hope he ends up get a zillion bucks to drive for Bobby Ginn, because it seems like he'd really get everything he's said he wants there, but RCR with Earnhardt, Harvick, Burton, and Bowyer matches up pretty darn well with Hendrick Motorsports.
Supposedly Gibbs is less of an option because he doesn't want an alcohol-sponsored car.
I've never had a baad opinion about Teresa but she seems like she's turned into an egomaniac.

It is still a possibility Dale joins Hedrick racing. Dale has already taken one of his cars for a couple of laps at Texas. Can you imagine the team of Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, and Jimmie Johnson as teammates? Take that Talladega!
So here's the deal. Tito Ortiz and Dana White were scheduled to box this past Saturday night. Then, at weigh-ins, Tito wasn't there. Fans and "experts" everywhere were asking how this fight fell apart so suddenly without any notice.
