is Edge (wwe.com).

Normally I'd pitch a fit about spoilers and what not, but when they go to the trouble of putting up a crawl during the ECW show, clearly the WWE folks have different ideas about what's a spoiler and what isn't.

I figure I better post and set the example to avoid any confusion. Especially from (you know which moron I'm thinking of).

Not terribly surprising in the shock sense, but surprising in that it's the right move for WWE to make. Edge moving over to SmackDown gives it one more main event guy (moving them up to a grand total of two, three if you count Benoit) for the summer, as well as keeping Edge away from Cena for a while.

It was five years ago now that Michael Cole proclaimed Edge the future of SmackDown. Let's see if he was right.

I'm saddened that Edge is off RAW, a show he should have clearly inherited from Michaels and earned with his title reigns last year.

I'm also heartened that the WWE chose him to cap the SD roster in a dramatic defeat of Kennedy to take and use the MITB contract within 24 hours to win that show's belt.

I'm also resigned to start taping and watching SD.

Edge has worked his ass off, starting an impressive run with the Matt Hardy feud and the Lita scandal. He spun gold out of crap, and he's been entertaining every step of the way. Also, he outshone the clear face in the feud by besting him in every facet of performance. He's stepped up.

I'm an Edgehead. And I'm glad this series of events wasn't used on, say, Orton, even if it got him off RAW.

This is a great move for Edge and for Smackdown. It's not a demotion in the least for Edge to go to Smackdown. The brand can, for whatever period of time, be built around him. He has the personality to carry the brand in promos and the ability to deliver in the ring. Any program he will have, against Batista, Benoit or whoever else, will seem fresh. The company clearly believes in him.

Plus, the way Edge has been programmed in the last 24 hours, he has two ready-made feuds down the road against Undertaker or Kennedy when they're ready to return.

The coolest thing to me is that Edge is the go-to guy to create shocking moments. He's the one who gets to rock the status quo when it needs rocking. He's the best heel in wrestling today.

God, I wish I could have seen it live. I'd been anticipating it all day and I couldn't be happier they actually pulled the trigger.

Seems like the logical way to go, and Edge deserves it. I am also disappointed that the mystique of the MITB is gone, but with the bad string of injuries on SD!, they almost had no choice after losing 2 of the top 3 guys on that show.

Raw will survive without Edge, even if the Rated R superstar gimmick is better suited for a live show, where "anything can happen". Maybe Carlito can step up and fill the void?

Well S.D. needed a ratings boost bad. Hopefully it works. It worked for RAW when Edge was champion.

Is it a spoiler to reveal that Batista/Undertaker was really good once again? They did it again despite the injury. Well worth watching.

Well, I'd say the spoiler is in saying how it finished; all the WWE stated was that Edge beat UT for the title. That could have been a number of potential finishes.

Super-awesome. Taker getting injured might well be worth it if it means that Edge gets another main event push.

To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Saah-weet ... Maybe Edge will get even more ink now ... it appears he's starting a collection ...

I'm happy that Edge is back on the blue brand ... kinda freshens things up a bit ... heck, he may even be able to carry big Dave to a couple decent matches.

Hee, hopefully many years from now when Edge starts enjoying his well-deserved retirement, we'll look back on his career and think of him as "the dependable guy who WWE could always turn to in an emergency".

Think about it: The trigger was pulled on his second WWE Title reign when Rob Van Dam was arrested for marijuana possession and on the verge of being suspended. They needed to get the WWE and ECW Titles off of RVD before sending him home, so they set up a triple-threat match on RAW and had Edge shock the world (I seriously thought Cena was going to regain the belt).

Now Undertaker and Kennedy get injured, meaning that SmackDown would lose not only the World Heavyweight Champion but the guy who owned Money in the Bank. So what do they do? They have Edge challenge Kennedy successfully for the Money in the Bank (even if they couldn't really find a good storyline reason why in the world Kennedy would accept such a challenge), and almost immediately thereafter they have Edge pin 'Taker to win the World Title.

When plans fall to pieces, Edge is there to pick up the ball and run with it. And I think he's the ideal choice to do just that.

Though I wouldn't have had any problems with Batista regaining the championship, I am extremely happy that Edge captured his third title and is now on Smackdown. This will seriously provide interesting feuds for the main event.

Edge vs Batista
Edge vs Benoit
Edge vs Matt Hardy?! Hell why not give Matt Hardy a fluke main event shot during a Raw PPV and they won't have to headline.

Personally I'm looking forward to the first full fledged feud between Batista and Edge, and hopefully Batista will bring some of that recent fire he's had.

And on top of that, Edge Vs. Rey, Edge Vs. Booker, Edge Vs. Undertaker and Edge Vs. Kennedy when those guys return from injury. They really did choose the best possible candidate to jump shows.

Oh, you know something else I just thought of? If I'm not too much mistaken, Edge has just become the first person to win the Triple Crown on both RAW and SmackDown:

He's a former WWE, Intercontinental and World Tag Team Champion, and he's also won the World Heavyweight, United States and WWE Tag Team Championships.

His 21 total reigns with a title belt has to be some kinda WWE record too, I would think. (Well, 22 if you count his Hardcore Title co-reign with Mick Foley, which may or may not be officially recognized.)

I know at the time everybody thought it was a good idea to give Kennedy the MITB, and I did too, but now it's too bad Edge didn't just win the WM match. Then A) he could've done this anyway and B) he'd still be undefeated at Wrestlemania for a streak vs. streak feud against UT down the line. I guess they could always spin it that he didn't get pinned last year so it didn't count. I think Edge vs. UT could definitely be a Wrestlemania caliber feud though.

I could also see Edge vs. Matt being a non-main event feud for some PPV. They did just put Matt over Kennedy, even if Kennedy was about to leave because of his injury I'd say that's a good sign for Matt.

Seeing both Edge and Christian on top of their promotions at the same time reeks of awesomeness.

They need to keep Matt away from Edge because Edge eclipses him. We saw this in the Lita feud. Matt had never gotten such a more prominent singles push, and Edge lapped him in every facet of the angle. Matt just doesn't have the charisma. Keep them separate, and let Matt build on his singles run on SD.

It will probably be Batista that gets the shot at Edge anyway, out of his "respect" for Taker. Plus, he apparently (spoiler deleted).

On one hand I like the way the title change tonight changes the Smackdown dynamics. On the other hand it really sucks to lose a red hot Undertaker. I mean the man was a nasty chin beard and a cape away from becoming the most badass motherfucker in wrestling again.

Absolutely gutted by this. It was such a shock - I had literally just looked up about him earlier in the week, trying to figure out when he'd be back on TV.
