Best episode of ANY show since Lost's "Walkabout." The future is full of more action than 24 in fast forward. Bennet...DEAD! Claire...DEAD! Candice...DEAD! Haitian...(Presumed)DEAD! Hiro...DEAD! Nathan...DEAD!
What an absolute tease of Sylar/Peter at the end though.
Of course the future is full of more action... there are no consequences to any of it. We don't get to see the day after the future, so all the deaths are essentially meaningless. It all serves as a giant warning to Hiro to save everything, but we more or less knew that he had to anyway. We just didn't know the stakes.
If Sylar can get his hands on Future Hiro's corpse, can he still absorb his power? If Future Sylar, with his illusion-casting, super-healing, and time travel, decides to retreat back in time, will he still be around even if he is defeated at the end of the season, or would he be wiped from existence like the McFly's in BttF? I wonder if this isn't a way for the writers to keep an even more powerful Sylar around next season. I suppose the same could apply to the scarred Peter, since we know he absorbed Hiro's power.
I'll admit, I didn't see Sylar as Nathan coming until too late. I'm curious as to whether or not THAT is part of Linderman's all encompassing plan.
You believe me, don't you? Please believe what I just said...

Seriously? I just felt that (and this is a problem with pretty much any story involving time travel, IMO) the details started to get away from the writers ... the obvious one being, why didn't Future Hiro (or Future Peter, for that matter) go back and kill Sylar himself?
This shit was great. I've never been more into an episode of any TV show that I was with Heroes last night. I don't have any particular things to point out because it was all top notch. My only question is what happened to Linderman and Mama Petrelli in the future we saw.
I like brunettes more than blondes, but Brown Hair Claire just looked weird. Maybe it was the straightening, let the girl have her curls.

Ah, good old alternate future where everybody dies. Always good for some fun. I think future Hiro didn't want to go back and kill Sylar himself because he was worried about too much alteration of the time stream. I mean, what happens if someone from the future changes things so much that his future doesn't exist anymore? Does he disappear? Can he still change the past if he doesn't exist any more? It's one of those ridiculous time travel paradoxes that give people headaches.

The answer, as always: alternate realities: Hiro isn't jumping around to various points in his own past/future; he's "warping" himself into parallel universes. So really, even if Hiro ends up killing Sylar, it's not like this dystopian "Homeland Security is sending all 'special' people to the gas chambers" future (let's call it "Earth-H2" for simplicity's sake) is just going to magically disappear; it will continue to exist in its own little pocket of reality that diverges from the main timeline of the show ("Earth-H1"). So Earth-H2 Hiro - rather than calling him "Future Hiro" - will still be dead, Earth-H2 Sylar will still run the country, and Earth-H2 New York will still be in ruins.
Kinda sad, actually, now that I think about it ...
I just wish that someone would kill present day or future Suresh since I fin him to be the most annoying character now that Isaac is dead.
And how does Future Peter have a scar if he can regenerate like Claire ? Present Day Peter didn't have the Sylar brain cut scar last week - just the dried blood stain.
and Sylar vs Peter - who wins since they can both regenerate at will ?
Fun episode but not really needed in the overall scheme of things other than to cement in Hiro's head that he must kill Sylar before he gets to Claire.

How can Sylar kill Claire with the HeadSlicer(TM) when she's indestuctible? Peter healed with her power when Sylar went after him, why couldn't she? Or does he examine her brain and then she heals up?
That said, the HeadSlicer(TM) scene with Sylar and Claire was the creepiest thing I've seen in some time.
Does this mean Parkman knew Sylar was Nathan? He can read minds, for goodness sake. Why wouldn't Sylar have wanted his power? Was Parkman killed in the resulting battle? Given the pounding Mohinder was taking on the other side of the door, I have to believe so.

Well, it's been established that it takes a minute for Claire to regenerate, and that brain injuries can stop her regeneration completely. All Sylar has to do is cut her head open quick, and then scoop out her brain. Theoretically, I guess she could regenerate if you put her brain back in her body, but that would kill her.

Not if Nathan/Sylar was only in the same room with Parkman at the same time the Haitian was there...
But the Haitian was already dead when Sylar made his appearance at the end of the episode; Parkman should have been able to read his mind and find out his true intentions ... or, y'know, just turn around and see Sylar standing where Nathan used to be. Whichever's easier, I guess
What does Sylar do with the brains to get the powers, anyway? Eat them? Rub them all over his body? Squeeze them like a wet towel and drink the brain juices? I never could figure that out.
I found myself looking with a very hard straight crush on Future Peter. Man, was he sexy in last night's episode.

I think you just revoked your heterosexuality for the day.
Kudos to the title of the thread. Watching this online, that line gave me a great laugh.

I think it's already been said that Hiro can't significantly alter history. He tried to save that waitress he fell in love with, but in the end realized that once an event happens, he can't go back and prevent it.

Which again brings up the problems with time travel ... If we are to believe that Hiro really did travel to the "future" and witness the destruction caused by Peter exploding, then doesn't that show that the event did in fact happen and cannot be changed?

I believe that if the event has already happened for that Hiro, then that's it, end of story. Since (past)Hiro went back to his time, the explosion has not yet happened in his natural timeline and can be prevented.

Don't forget that FutureHiro, like the rest of America, seems to be under the assumption that Sylar was the bomb, and only Peter and Nathan (and maybe a few select others) know the truth. FutureHiro's actions did save Claire (temporarily), but PresentHiro is going to attempt to kill the wrong guy.
My only question is why Sylar decided to never kill and absorb Parkman's powers. Surely mind-reading would be useful.
Ryan overexplaining the diner was GOLD. The "sabre printers are fire hazards" side story might lead to some good moments layer. I am glad Darnell was smart enough to film it.
