Looks like he went to the Browns at 22nd, who are really lucky that he fell all the way back down to them.
I'm absolutely shocked (well, not really) that Detroit used their first round on pick on...wait for it...ANOTHER WR! And that wasn't even the most baffling pick of the first round. A lot of Dolphins fans are on suicide watch right now.
The Wisdom of Homsar: AaAaAa! I'm a trendy tote bag!
I would've been fine with the Vikings or Jets taking Quinn, but was happier with who they took instead. Too bad for Peterson and his shoulder injuries that he'll be playing half his games on the Metrodome cement - NFL Street, y'all!
Gotta feel bad for JaMarcus Russell. Nobody wants to end up playing for the Raiders. Nobody. Good players go to Oakland to watch their careers nosedive.
Awesome to see the Browns take TWO of the top ranked players in the first round. Great moves, even if trading up to get Quinn was costly. Can't wait to see how they are doing in a year or two.
I gotta say I'm with those who don't see Brady Quinn as ever being a great NFL QB. Bad pick I think.
I know some people wanna bash Detroit for taking Johnson but don't. Seriously he's so amazing I don't care who is on your roster, you take him and cut someone. He made a horrific QB look decent in college and he can do the same in the NFL. People keep telling me WR isn't a big enough impact position but then I'm like, really how did Carolina do so well a couple years ago? How much did TO help Philly that first year? Not a big factor huh?

Can't be any worse then what Cleveland has now. I would have picked Quinn or even Stanton before John Beck.
I am really surprised by this, as Moss doesn't fit New England's team culture at all. I just think a guy like Moss does more harm than good. Even beyond the off-the-field stuff, I just don't like how he plays the game. He seems to only go all out when he as a chance to make an ESPN highlight. Too often, otherwise, he just takes plays off, runs away from the ball to avoid getting hit, and just doesn't seem to think it is his job to do the little things it takes to win. I would rather have football players who want to do every aspect of the game than specialists who think their job is only to catch, only to run, etc. and the rest of the time can stand around moping while the play is going on. And with NFL salaries such as they are, I think they are getting paid enough to just play the game and do whatever needs to be done, whether it will be an ESPN highlight or not.
(I should say that a 4th round pick is not very expensive for a guy like Moss, so it is probably worth taking a chance on. But I just can't see things working out here. But I have always thought Moss was vastly overrated, even when he was with the Vikings.)

I agree with you, but as a counter-point, the ESPN talking heads keep citing Corey Dillon as a malcontent who came to New England and had much success. Also, they claim that Moss will be greatly motivated by the chance to win a championship. He is restructuring his salary for the Patriots after all, so that must be a sign of something.
You believe me, don't you? Please believe what I just said...
New England ends up trading #28 this year to San Francisco for what will probably be a higher pick in next season's draft (unless you believe San Fran is going to the Super Bowl or winning at least 12 games) and Randy Moss, as the #4 they received in that trade was sent to Oakland for Moss. Considering Oakland wanted at least 1 #1 a few months ago for Moss, that looks like a good trade for New England. With a restructured contract, they can dump Moss if he dogs it with little impact on the cap. If they get 1 motivated season from Moss, they could be scary good. Watching this off-season, does it appear Belichick was a slight bit pissed that his team was 1 conversion of 3rd and 4 away from a Super Bowl appearance and likely 4th Super Bowl title?
'Ric Flair wishes he was Paul Roma.' Congratulations Paul on winning the Idiotic Comment of the Decade Award.
Remember when the Yankees won all those World Series titles thanks to a core of their own guys (Jeter, Rivera, Posada, Bernie) and a few strategically-picked free agents? And then after a couple of non-title years, they went overboard and tried to buy everyone, and ended up with a bunch of high-priced talent that didn't gel? In other news, the New England Patriots traded for Randy Moss.
The Browns, on paper, had a phenomenal draft. At least they made one smart pick and got Thomas, who projects to be a rock on the o-line for the next decade. I'm of the school that thinks Quinn is overrated, but also that Russell is overrated.
Check hell for frost, since Detroit had a great draft. They pick up Johnson, who could combine with Williams to make the scariest WR combo in the NFL, and then they get their quarterback in the second round (Drew Stanton).
I don't know what Miami was thinking, taking Ginn that high. They could've dropped down at least 10 spots and still picked him. Weren't there supposed to be a bunch of teams wanting to move up to pick Patrick Willis? Couldn't the Fins have pulled that off?
As for my Packers, they filled a few needs. A few draftnicks said Harnell might be a reach due to his injury history, but if he's healthy, he's a good pick. I dunno if Brandon Jackson is the answer at running back, since without a good run game, Favre will have another pick-happy year. James Jones might end up being a steal in the third.
Ginn is a fine pick. The only people crying the blues re: Quinn were the group of Notre Dame fans at the bar having to suffer the humiltation of their golden boy relegated to the backroom in abject ignominy. A "sign of class" by the new commish, but - "watch someone trade for him - DAMN!...wait - here it is - Jacksonville HAS TO TAKE HIM!!! FUCK!!"...haw haw haw. Goodell rules
The Fish stole John Beck, who plays really, really good. And it's not like the AFC will be able to compete with New England or Indy for the next couple of years. SD maybe, ok, Pittsburgh (F'N SHAPIRO). Anyone thinking Quinn = Dolphins hopes was nuts. They made the right move
I'd like, in 2 or 3 years for the Dolphins to have a chance to win with Buck as a QB that scores points. Without Saban, that can happen. Anything more than 8 wins and ruining someone else's chances in week 16 / 17 will make me a happy Fish fan this year

I enjoy the metaphor, but what are Dillon and Harrison? Clemens and Knoblauch?

Don't forget all those people who booed the shit out of Cam Cameron when he announced the pick to the fans. That was awesome. "We drafted Ted Ginn and his family. His family will give us everything they have." What?

He has about a 75% chance of ending up as a journeyman 4th reciever/kick return specialist within three years.
Gonzalez was probably the best reciever on that Ohio State team.

Honorable mention should also go to the reaction shot of Packers fans all booing their pick, with that seven year old really expressing his anger with their decision.
Thank God ESPN got out of their Sunday Night Baseball commitment so they could continue to analyze the Randy Moss trade into the night.. If only Barry Bonds had hit a home run that could be shown 20 times.
In local news, Da Bears sign Florida Gator QB Chris Leak as a free agent, apparently to give Kyle Orton a run for the 3rd spot. This is in line with the great tradition of Gators calling signals for the Bears, following in the footsteps of Shane Matthews, Danny Wuerffel, and Rex the Wonder Grossman.

Travesty? No. Young was the 30th ranked passer in the league and had more INTs than TDs. I'm kind of surprised at how easily he won. I thought Maurice Jones-Drew (950 rushing yards, 15 overall TDs) would've gotten more votes.
