Black Machismo vs. Chris Sabin: Kevin Nash, in the ring, introduces BLACK MACHISMO, who is of course Jay Lethal -- with Macho Man outfit, remixed Macho Man music, and Macho Man mannerisms. This is pretty amusing, yes -- I will be totally sick of it by, probably, next week. Lethal wins with a top-rope elbow drop (!!!).
Leticia with Team Cage -- Cage is the only one upset by the "whoever gets the pin gets a title shot" stip at Lockdown.
Nash is backstage with Lethal -- Lethal seems pretty happy. Dutt pops up, wearing Nash's Vinnie Vegas outfit. He is dubious. Meanwhile, Eric Young sits in a corner.
Robert Roode & Jackie Moore vs. Petey Williams & Gail Kim: Kim is taken out early via a Roode back suplex. Petey fights back -- WTF they've given him Sabin's Hesitation Dropkick and it's not as good! Gail Kim makes it back. I still hate Petey's Russian Leg Sweep -- he never, ever, ever bothers hooking the leg. It REALLY BUGS ME. Williams is distracted by James Storm and Roode wins with a rollup.
Chris Harris is out, too, and everybody brawls. Eric Young comes out with a chair, gets upbraided by Roode, and skulks off. I was REALLY expecting Young to turn on Williams and kill him with the chair. "ERIC YOUNG'S FRIEND IS BOBBY ROODE! YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!" I guess they're saving it for the PPV.
LAX drag Brother Runt to the ring and Konnan (now on a single crutch) is PACKING HEAT. Okay, it's just a Taser. He's gonna shoot Brother Runt so that he can tell his brothers what it's like to be electrocuted -- but 3D interrupt. "Don't shoot our brother!" Konnan retorts, "or what?" and TOTALLY SHOOTS RUNT WITH A TASER GUN. Ah ha ha ha ha ha -- that's awesome. He's got darts stuck in his chest! (I wonder if he has padding under his shirt? Runt should've totally done this angle shirtless -- actually, I'm a little surprised he didn't insist on it!)
LAX flee and 3D comes down -- here's security, trying to get the darts out -- Tenay says we can't watch this heinousness and DEMANDS that we go to break! Tenay does not, however, have the authority to keep us from coming back to a replay!
Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles: The winner of this match will determine who gets the numbers advantage in Lethal Lockdown, as far as order of entrances goes. Pretty fun match -- not really anything new, but Styles and Joe work well together. After a ref bump, Team Cage comes out -- but Team Angle comes out as well. More brawling! And then JEFF JARRETT'S music hits and here he is -- in street clothes and with his guitar. He's in the ring...tease...AJ STYLES gets the guitar over his head! JJ holds up five fingers to Joe! Joe gets the pin! Smarks across the nation scream, "wait -- the FACES will have the numbers advantage at Lethal Lockdown?!? RUUUUUUSOOOOOOOO~!~!~!~!"
Team Cage is upset. Team Angle -- apart from Angle himself -- also seems upset. It's probably a good idea to have JJ come back at the all-cage PPV -- harder for the crowd to hit him with bottles.

P.S. I'd like to request that CRZ let oldschoolhero post in these threads again! At least once per thread, man! I miss him.
P.P.S. Also, I totally screwed up the thread icon! I blame the "Tab" button.

They've got the opportunity to make a real statement about the future of the company with the Lethal Lockdown match. Jarrett gets the winning pin, and the bad booking comes full circle, with a so-so feud from last year being repeated solely due to Jarrett's involvement. Joe gets the pin, and they head in a fresh, logical direciton with the world title, with Joe beating Christian as vengeance for being screwed last month. There's an outside chance of Sting getting the pin, but I think he's done as title contender.
I actually like Jarrett as a face - with Christian, AJ and Abyss as strong top heels and Daniels, LAX and Sabin leading the midcard, his heel act would be mighty stale in comparison. But he doesn't need to be inserted into the world title picture. Feud him with AJ. Hell, do a face/face Angle match.
There've been parts of the LAX/Team 3D feud that've been fun, but Goddamn, just get it over already. They've been feuding for forever.
To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow
If he stays out of the title picture, I am fine with this. Maybe he can just...oh, who am I kidding?
I was surprised by the crowd's reaction! I guess they have missed him due to not having anyone to legitimately boo since he left. It will be interesting to hear their reactions over the next few weeks.
Dean! Have you been shooting dope into your scrotum? You can tell me! I'm hip!
Lethal's Machismo gimmick reminds me of Big Show impersonating Hogan, and it went over HUGE. But that was only a one time thing.
I've asked before, and I'd like to know. To what extent can someone just take another wrestler's entire gimmick? Does Macho hold any kind of copyright?

I don't have a problem with Jarrett being a face because he's a good worker and good on the mic, I think he's capable of it. But not with his usual guitar swingin', struttin' attitude, he needs to make a few changes to his character to be face.

Randy Savage does indeed hold some active trademarks. IANAL, so I have no idea if he would actually has a case. I think the idea is that his distinctive look is part of his "brand name", and use by someone else is trademark infringement.
Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you... I'd think that the "Black Machismo" gimmick would fall under the category of parody, meaning that unfortunately for Savage, he wouldn't have a leg to stand on in the courts, much like WCW couldn't sue ECW over the Blue World Order in the '90's.
As for when TNA is going to sever its ties with the NWA, there's nothing official out there, but my guess is it's going to happen whenever Bryan Danielson says he's ready to return to in-ring action (since he's the favorite to be the first NWA champion post-split).
smark/net attack Advisory System Status is: Elevated (Holds; June 18, 2006) While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

I'm not sure if I've seen the date, but I know it's soon. Melzter noted Team 3D has to win the tag team titles on this PPV, or they'll miss their chance to have been WWE, WCW, ECW and NWA champs (for whatever that's worth.)

Historys sake...Road Warriors credibility for The Dudleys/Team 3D. I don't think they've achieved the same popularity that the Road Warriors had but they'll, hopefully, fall under them as may the second most successful professional wrestling tag team. I sort think they've earned it.

Hey, as much as we all hated Triple H, he certainly kept out of the title picture for quite a while. Miracles CAN happen.
Count me as one who looks forward to a face Jeff Jarrett.

Jarrett was SMILING after the chairshot...that was probably the first time I saw him with a real smile as opposed to the heelish smirk he's had for most of his career.
I've seen THREE movies so far this year: Because I Said So - (3*); Borat - (5*); Children Of Men - (4*)
