Since there's no thread yet, I've cross-posted my report from da Torch:
--------------------------------------------------------
-WWE open.

-Highlights of Undertaker winning the Royal Rumble are shown. Then, we see him confronting every champion and then making his choice. We get a myriad of shots of all four men (HBK, Taker, Batista and Cena) from RAW and Smackdown.

-Cold open as we are (taped) from Seattle, Washington at the Key Arena. Tonight, Cena and HBK face Mr. Kennedy and MVP (separate brands, nothing in common; why are these guys fighting?). Also, Rated RKO vs. Batista and Taker (again, why?).

1- THE BOOGEYMAN VS. FINLAY
Boogeyman is from the bottomless pit? I did not know that. Finlay attacks Boogeyman during his entrance. He throws the strange man into the steps. Finlay throws him into the ring to start the match. Great, so we get two matches between these two for free then have to PAY for the third one? How much different can that match be than the ones we’ve seen? Finlay stomps the gut of the Boogeyman. Elbowdrop follows that up. Rear chin-lock, Boogeyman tries to work out, but Finlay stops him. Boot to Finlay by Boogeyman as Finlay charged into the corner, but Finlay follows it up with a clothesline for a near fall. The Irishman gets shoved to the outside and clotheslines Finlay twice when he gets back in. Atomic drop and thrust to the throat, as we’re really getting into day #2 of wrestling school offense. Finlay catches him though, with a clothesline to the back of the head. Finlay tries to take the corner pad off, but ref Chris Kay catches him. Finlay grabs the shillaleigh, and the ref admonishes him. Little Bastard enters to try to take out Boogeyman with another shillaleigh, and oh my God, we have a mini-Boogeyman sighting. Boogeyman (the big one) takes his staff and hits Finlay in the gut as Kay is distracted by the minis and gets the pin.

WINNER: Boogeyman at 4:08. Well, the crowd certainly liked the mini-Boogeyman. The match, as you’d expect, stunk.

-Stills from last night’s RAW, specifically the main event are shown, in preview of tonight’s matches. Plus, Ashley’s Playboy cover is revealed tonight. Does this mean Maryse finally makes her debut to take out Ashley?

[Break]

-We return to a (long) video package of Donald vs. Vince from RAW. JBL and Cole discuss the implications of the meeting.

2- DEUCE VS. BRIAN KENDRICK
Kendrick needs the win here to keep his team even remotely credible. Early pin attempt by Deuce after a knee to the face. Another attempt, another kick-out by Kendrick. Both partners are outside the ring. Deuce has a modified arm-bar on Kendrick, digging his elbow into Kendrick’s face. Kendrick tries a sun-set flip, but Deuce spins out and lands a right-hand to Brian. He pulls the tag champ up by the hair and lays in a right hand. Knee to the face follows, then a cover for two. No offense thus far from Kendrick. This is pretty much like the middle of these two teams’ tag match, only less tags by the heel team. Kendrick finally fights out of another rest-hold. Kendrick meets Deuce with a kick, then a flying forearm. Dropkick finally puts the big man down. Domino grabs Kendrick’s foot as he hits the ropes and London takes care of him. Referee John somethingorother is distracted by them, while Kendrick hangs on as Deuce sends him out, but Domino throws Kendrick off the top rope. “Crack’em in the Mouth” (the big boot) ends it as Deuce gets the win.

WINNER: DEUCE at 2:43. Surprisingly short. Kendrick and London have been treated like jobbers during this “feud.”

-Tonight, Cena and HBK vs. Kennedy and MVP, plus, Batista and Taker vs. Rated RKO.

[Break]

-We get King Booker and Queen Sharmell at the movies. The two are backstage, reviewing “See No Evil” on DVD. I liked it better when Booker and Goldust did this. Booker says he’ll vanquish Kane at No Way Out. A clip of the movie is then shown, while Booker laughs at how un-scary Kane was. Now we get “See No Evil” if it starred Booker, which is just Booker standing in front of the clip, doing his thing. That was kinda funny. Booker re-iterates that he does not fear Kane. The lights start to go out on their set, and we hear Kane’s voice: “This Sunday, there is No Way Out.” Then Kane rips through the curtain in the back-drop and the royalty high-tail it.

-Clips from RAW last night and the eight-man tag are shown.

-HBK is backstage getting ready, while Cena comes into the locker room to talk to him. Cena says he has HBK’s back, but wants to make sure Michaels has his back. HBK says his goal leading up to WM is to make sure nothing happens to the Champ.

-Backstage, Kennedy and MVP are walking to the ring. Their match is next!

[Break]

3- SHAWN MICHAELS AND JOHN CENA VS. MR. KENNEDY AND
Kennedy and Michaels start things off. No clean break in the corner from Kennedy, so Charles Robinson has to get between them. HBK works over Kennedy and gets him in a side-headlock on the mat. Kennedy gets Michaels in the corner, but makes the mistake of sending him to the opposite corner, then gets a boot for his troubles. Cena is in now, hip-toss and bodyslam send Mr. Kennedy down for the two-count. Cena lays some elbows into KK in the corner. Kennedy though, sneaks in a clothesline and MVP is in. MVP works over the body of Cena in the corner. Cena though, gets the tag and HBK hits the flying jalapeno on Kennedy. Atomic drop for both Kennedy AND MVP, then a bodyslam for KK. Patented elbowdrop from the top by HBK and he wants to end it early. He dodges an MVP attempt to break it up and Cena takes care of him. Michaels then goes over the top onto the two heels as we go to break.

[Break]

We come back with Michaels on offense against Kennedy. Tag and Cena is in. Double-team puts Kennedy down for two. He tries to make the tag but Cena holds him back. Suplex by Cena for a two-count. The faces are working well together and HBK is back in. Kennedy fights back with some right hands, then a bodyslam. MVP is in, but he misses an elbow. The crowd is chanting “Power Ranger” at MVP. Michaels falls to the heels and gets sent to the outside. Kennedy takes him out there. MVP now on the advantage back in the ring. MVP does some show-boating but still lands an elbow. Porter becomes aggressive with some right hands on Michaels then he tags Kennedy. The crowd chants“HBK, HBK.” Both guys are trading right hands now, and Kennedy comes out on top. JBL accuses of Cole of being impartial in this match. MVP is in, and Kennedy, on the apron, beats on Shawn while the ref is distracted. Kennedy is back in, hits a snap mare and goes into a chin-lock. Cena is cheering on HBK. Kennedy hits the rolling Samoan drop then goes to the top. Ken-ton misses and Cena is tagged in. He cleans house on the Smackdown guys. Kennedy brings in a steel chair, but HBK super-kicks him. Cena then hits the FU on MVP for the win.

WINNERS: Cena and HBK at 17:11. Pretty good match and the Smackdown guys were on equal footing for the most part.

-Kristal, backstage, complains to Teddy Long about the talent contest. She can’t figure out a talent. Jillian walks in singing. Does she just randomly walk into dressing rooms, breaking out in song? She wants to rap for her talent. Teddy, the great GM that he is, doesn’t tell her the truth about her singing. Kristal has a hidden talent she wants to show Teddy. She takes off her coat and then her top. She rubs up against Teddy as we go to break. Well, that was awkward.

[Break]

-We review the H.O.F video for Dusty Rhodes from RAW.

-Backstage, Kristal, her back to the camera, has her top off and Long says he looks forward to seeing her talent again on Sunday. So we’re to assume she’ll get naked, I guess. Bobby Lashley greets Teddy, but before he say too much, Kennedy comes in to complain to Teddy Long about what just took place. Kennedy says he’s beaten everyone including Lashley, then says he can beat him again. Kennedy wants Lashley for the belt at No Way Out. Lashley wants him.

-Ashley comes out to unveil her Playboy cover. Not bad, actually. The cover does say “The women of WWE,” so are there others in there (non-nude, maybe)? And...that’s it.

-Later, it’s Batista and Taker vs. Rated RKO!

[Break]

-More Vince/Trump clips from RAW.

4- GREGORY HELMS VS. SCOTTY 2 HOTTY
I thought Scotty went to RAW? Not like it even matters, anymore, really. Helms attacks before the bell. He gets some knees to the face in the corner, then chokes Scotty on the ropes. Scotty comes back with some right hands, then sends Helms into the corner and follows-up with some chops. Suplex from Scotty then a seated dropkick. Reversal into the buckle and Helms misses a charge. Scotty lands the bulldog, and you know what that means. But before the Worm can get hit, Daivari interferes for the DQ. Funaki then comes in to take out Daiviri, followed by Whatever Happened To Jamie Noble. Then Shannon Moore comes in. Helms hits his finisher on Moore then retreats. But Jimmy Wang Yang gets him in the aisle and takes him out. Helms crawls back to the locker room.

WINNER: Scotty via DQ at 2:00. What does it say that we haven’t see half the cruiserweights that interfered in, like, months? I guess this sets up a C’weight open at the PPV.

-Tonight, Batista and Taker vs. Rated RKO!

[Break]

-We get our first Maryse sighting of the night. She welcomes us, in a tub, back to Smackdown. Wow, thanks. Then we get Big Dick Johnson in another tub welcoming us back.

-Then we get a trailer for some double-feature, “Planet Terror” and “Death Proof,” only at “The Grindhouse.” What the hell was that?

-No Way Out is previewed by Cole and JBL. Here’s how it looks:

Kane vs. King Booker
Lashley vs. Kennedy, ECW Title
Finlay and Little Bastard vs. Boogeyman and Mini-Boogey in a mixed tag match
Batista and Taker vs. Cena and HBK
No tag title preview?

-Rated RKO are backstage, planning on exploiting Taker and Batista’s mis-trust.

[Break]

5- RATED RKO VS. UNDERTAKER AND BATISTA
Taker goes after Edge to start and works the left arm. Taker cleans house on both men then goes old school. He does that so early in matches lately. I wonder why. Batista is tagged in and he shoulderblocks Edge down. Batista crushes Orton and Edge in the corner with shoulders. Now both Taker and Batista hit stereo clotheslines over the top rope. Time for a break!

[Break]

Batista is beating on Edge as we return. But Orton stops him by putting a knee into his back. That just angers the Animal, who throws him off the apron, then throws Edge over the top. The heels get the advantage on the outside with Orton’s back-cracker. Edge tosses Batista back in the ring then tags in Orton. They hit a double-dropkick for a two-count. Taker interrupts another pin attempt. Edge puts the boots to Batista and backs him into the heel corner. Orton is tagged back in and hits the reverse chin-lock. Batista battles back, but Edge stops him from making the tag. Taker though finally gets the tag and goes to work on Edge and Orton. He sets up for a double-chokeslam, but Edge and Orton get a kick to the gut. Taker is in there with Edge as Batista drags Orton to the outside. Edge gets sent into the corner, but runs into ref Jimmy Korderas. Taker puts Orton down with a big boot, but Edge spears Taker. Edge grabs two chairs from ringside, obviously wanting to hit a conchairto. But Taker sits up and grabs Edge’s throat. Orton hits a low-blow from behind, then hits Taker in the head with a chair. Edge goes for the cover and Charles Robinson comes in to count, but gets only two. Batista is in hitting some clotheslines on both men. Then he gets an ADRENALINE RUSH and sets up for the Batista bomb on Orton, but Edge spears him with Orton in the air. Taker is up now though and chokeslams Edge. Taker with a tombstone and it’s over.

WINNERS: Undertaker and Batista at 12:55. Fine match, with just enough going on at the end to make up for the other stuff that was just okay.

But that’s not all. Cena and HBK came out to take out their NWO challengers. We end with the Smackdown guys in pain in the ring.

Upon closer inspection, I caught Torrie, Chyna, and Sable listed under the "Women of WWE" heading, so methinks it's just rehashes of their Playboy shoots.

Am I mistaken, or would this have been Shawn Michaels first ever match on Smackdown?

There is way too much cross promotion going on right now. Hopefully after WrestleMania they reset the rosters or just combine them once and for all.

Thank You!

Why does that bother you?

And has been noted, combining the rosters merely means that half the roster in the company gets fired, we get a double dose of Cena promos and Umaga squashes every week, half the house shows get cut, the company makes way less money and the company burns itself out creatively twice as fast.

The brand split is not an angle. It's a way of business. It would pretty much kill the stock for them to do it. It's a giant step back.

There is nothing wrong with cross-brand stuff at various times of the year.

You can even kayfabe it and say the reason we have so much SD and Raw cross-over is that Coachman and Long don't have the hatred that Bischoff had with the various SD GMs over the years. Coach and Long (proud men that they are) like to see which roster is better. Regarding ECW, it's basically an outlaw brand being run by Vince McMahon, thus the reason we have crossovers there.

This was the first SmackDown I'd seen in its entirety in a while.

Maybe the last time I did was when Booker was gonna fight Boogeyman at WM, so seeing Booker and Sharmell retreat in fear from red lights again made me feel bad for them for having to do this again.

The champs were totally punked out by Deuce and Domino, and maybe this is the big muscle team to stop the small tag champs' reign. Kendrick especially looked like a child in the ring with Deuce.

Nice tag matches here, and Kennedy did a fair job challenging Lashley afterward. His ECW title shot on a SD PPV is somewhat logical, but we can't have a title change when ECW is only halfway through its multi-part bio series on the champ.

Speaking of ECW, Shannon Moore has seemingly better odds of appearing credible in SD after his utter failure at the hands of Punk. The cruiserweights looked like an interesting bunch.

Maybe I'm just wishing out loud, but it seems like RAW and SD are steering us toward an opponent switch for the titles. Shawn and Taker had heat on Thursday's show, which I'm sure is just to make their match on Sunday more heated. But a Shawn/Taker seems like a more interesting match than Shawn/Cena. We saw them work against each other last year before Angle went to ECW. But Taker/Shawn would leave Cena/Batista as a unification match, and there hasn't been enough build-up for that kind of WM main event.

Did I miss the listing for the big ladder match at No Way Out on SmackDown? I thought that was advertised earlier.

There's a reason Cena/Michaels doesn't seem like it's really gotten going yet. WWE hasn't really gotten it going yet because they had to keep the teams kind of together for No Way Out first. I'm sure both programs will really heat up after some big explosion stemming from the tag match. But I think they've done a great job laying the foundation for each match so far, especially Batista/Undertaker.

It should mean something when the brands cross.

I know the brand split is not a angle, but a way of business. However, stocking every Smackdown PPV with Raw guys just tells me that half the business is bad and maybe half the roster should be fired since it can't carry it's own PPV anyways. Right now we are almost back to where we were after the Invasion ... everyone has a belt again.

Mabye, this is just the last hurrah on the Road to WrestleMania and Vince will eventually come out with a new set of guidelines to reset the wrestling year.

Well, to be fair, they never did get around to naming a new Raw GM or having a draft this year.
