Morello says, "Is it a coincidence that in the seven years that Rage Against The Machine has been away that the country has slid into right-wing purgatory? I think not. It occurred to all of us that the times were right to see if we can knock the Bush administration out in one fell swoop, and we hope to do that job well."

...yeah, but let's hope Soundgarden still stays dead. The last album was for shit.
I'll still take that last Soundgarden album over either Audioslave release. That shit was BORRRRINNNNNNG. Sorry, I'm sure there's a good number of Ws that dug the Audioslave stuff, but I found it to be pretty trite and by the numbers considering the potential in pairing Morello's unique sound with Cornell (who's one of the better lead singers vocal-wise of the past twenty years, IMO).
If AudioSlave broke up after their first album I would have been satisfied. I felt like they just kept pumping out the exact same thing again and again. It was way too much and now I find myself almost hating them.
Cornell seems lost in some sort of middle-aged funk. I'm not sure he will ever break out of it or not, but it's been so long since he's done anything to push the envelope that I doubt that he ever will.
